  1. I was on record as not caring for the Joe Espada hire and thinking it was odd to turn over a WA team to a new guy, but I didn’t think he would be this over his head. I’d fire him and bring in Joe Maddon- he can grate on players and wear out his welcome- but that’s a thought for a later day. Also- any idea what scrap iron is up to these days? Is he dead? Bobby Valentine- is he still kicking it? Can he coach every game in disguise? this team probably doesn’t suck and the back end of the bullpen probably isn’t going to be hammered dogshit all year. The Abreu problem will resolve itself (if he wants Dubon in the lineup so badly why doesn’t he just go with him at first- or Diaz at first Dubon at 2B and Altuve DH some. It’s not like the Astros have any unmanageable or unfixable problems/ they just have to- you know- manage them and fix them. And hope the back of the bullpen becomes the strength that everyone thought it would be instead of horrific. we are 7/16. We are 2 for 8 in save opportunities. a more realistic 7 for 8 would have us at 12-11 even with all the starters being hurt and Abreu and the other mess, against probably the toughest opening schedule in baseball. I guess I just can’t believe those guys are going to continue to be so bad. I won’t believe it until Memorial Day- too much positive track record to throw that away after 4 weeks.
  2. I wanted to see what this team looks like when healthy when someone upstream had posted that we were like 3rd from last in runs allowed. I've put together a composite line just using guys we would expect to see pitch for us- JV, Framber, Javier, Brown, France, Blanco, Hader, Montero, Abreu, Pressly, Martinez and Bielak. That's it- that's not counting guys like LMJ and Garcia or Urquidy who you knew were gone for long periods of time before the season started. So- it's not like this is a healthy staff or anything, but it's what you thought you were getting- I guess I will throw Taylor Scott in there as well since he'd have broken camp with the main guys. 173 IP, 166 H's 79BB, 152K's, 88 Runs, 82 ER's ERA- 4.265, Whip- 1.41, 1.92 K/BB Hader, Pressly and Abreu are a combined 1-4 with a -1.1 WAR and directly responsible for 2 or 3 more losses that don't show up in that 1-4. This team is a little bit of health- guys with real good track records in the bullpen getting better and the will to solve the Jose Abreu situation away from being just fine. All that seems pretty fixable but maybe it won't be.
  3. I texted him a screenshot earlier in the year with GST above us and I said- I’m proud and pissed. He just laughed.
  4. They were apparently fucking lying about Jake Meyers.
  5. Pro bono or pro boner? Traveling nurse's. We've all heard the stories. We will let you decide.
  6. 3k a month for a place you paid 110k cash for (even with improvements seems like a pretty damn good ROI to me. I've never rented to traveling nurses but my SIL was one for a while. I wouldn't be at all concerned about it. They work those guys pretty hard- they make decent money and I wouldn't think they'd tear the place apart. She never did anyway. They also don't know many people so they aren't likely to be throwing ragers or anything like that. I'd do it if I thought I could get that number for sure.
  7. Sure. But I bet we are a lot better than 15-30 after 45 games.
  8. Andrew- I’m so happy for you Gabe me- Shit- did l inadvertently text you instead of my wife when I was talking about looking hot with big boobs and wanting to bang last night Andrew- uh- no- they called Forest Whitley up me- that’s way better than banging my wife we need to do an emergency podcast right now him- it’s 1:30 and I’m in the middle of meetings me- I’m on a sidewalk in front of the whitehouse- we should still do this I don’t think he gets the importance of today
  9. National average is at 7.44. Friendly reminder that doesn’t account for people paying points! Actual with that factored in is probably something like 7.75. Pretty much back to the grim days of last October that it felt like we’d left behind. I’m lobbying tomorrow and Thursday in favor of banning consumer sales of trigger leads. Hopefully that goes better than the market has been. Woof.
  10. Yes- he’s basically had one bad month (before the Astros) in his entire career and it was that first month in SD.
  11. What can you top out at- like $1,000? That feels like a small emotional hedge (and it’s starting to look potentially like a good bet)
  12. Dude. No cuts incoming in summer. Maybe October. Maybe. But doubt it.
  13. Still not worried. But Hader man, he should get it together. We talk pitching, Loperfido and schedule.
  14. No, probably not. But he’s got some good swing and miss to him and you can see it. he’s had a bit of a struggle every time he’s jumped a level.
  15. Well, we didn’t need to play shit defense behind the kid. not against this lineup.
  16. No sweat seems weird to me.
  17. It’s sort of funny in an absurdist kind of way. id like a range between 4 and 6 throughout the course of a year or two (or bussiness cycle). That seems healthy.
  18. The update this morning was grim down 53 bips. Star pattern has broken. all support levels are broken. No rate cuts coming until maybe September at the earliest. look out below!
  19. That was their 11th round draft pick. That means they like him. Those are the guys they think are first and second round talent that are tough signs.
  20. Down 40 in the mbs market to start the day. Yeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaw. retail sales came in hot. Or maybe it’s the shooting war between Iran and Israel.
  21. Abreu misses maldy. Maldy made him look good. Maldy’s slashing 069/100/103 Dusty baker should be horsewhipped for the shit he subjected us to last year.
