  1. Yeah, that might be true, but it is far from the whole truth. Continue with the info silo policy. What could go wrong?
  2. Again, faulty reasoning. “All parties” is not equivalent to everyone. Just because the US includes a pro-Putin faction which is anti-Constitutional Republic ought not threaten a Republic to which all parties are committed. Republicans opting out of democracy is on them. Every last one of them.
  3. Because I am unclear on the meaning of your second sentence, I was reminded of the Churchill quote about fighting (fascism) on every conceivable front.
  4. It wouldn’t change the government, but it stands a chance of changing the narrative. Agreed. Which is why I posted a link to sign a petition asking for a recount (of one fucking county in one state.) For the datapoint.
  5. You mean our democracy. And your logic is flawed. Democracy requires a buy in for, and support of, democracy from all parties. At the risk of repeating myself, fuck off, Bob.
  6. Way back when, our CSA contract was with Carlos and Suzanne Santos, and their farm in Kyle. On one of my trips there, during the flow of a typical conversation, Suzanne told me I didn’t have to spend extra on organic milk, that HEB brand milk was equally organic, and that HEB had made the decision too not label their milk as organic. I had no reason to doubt her. You can’t make more money selling organic stuff if you are all in on selling as much stuff as possible, and selling HEB milk as organic at a lower price (to sell as much as possible) would kill that higher priced niche. Suzanne later started and managed the Austin Farmer’s market. All that to say, I have trusted HEB for forty years. But Republicans are so malevolently corrupt, they have given me reason to be start being suspicious of the food sold at HEB.
  7. I would bet historical fact says otherwise, but I get your point.
  8. No, Bob, I did not vote for that guy. As to fault, don’t put that shit on me. What was I supposed to do, go psycho and assume the role of the Lord’s burning rain? Fuck off, Bob.
  9. One of the protestors who was shot in Idaho has died. He was killed by a “good guy with a gun.” The man who fired the shot was aiming at a man, A Gambia, who had pulled an AR style rifle from his backpack and was running toward the crowds. Ggwag also wounded Gambia, who was charged with murder, even though he never fired his weapon. The ggwag was not held by authorities, and his account was corroborated by witnesses. Horrible. I suppose the ggwag probably saved more lives than he apparently accidentally took. https://www.ksl.com/article/51330407/innocent-bystander-shot-killed-by-member-of-peacekeeping-group-at-salt-lake-rally Millions protested. One fatality. Two incidents involving guns
  10. At the protest today I made no effort to conceal my identity. My privilege is not just the color of my skin, but also the life I’ve led. If the fascists come for me, they’ll have to come for me where I live. That is the extent of my exposure, and I am ready to meet them at my door.
  11. As there is no thread for today’s mass in Chicago, where the Catholic pope broadcast his message for today, I will link that message. And for those who do not identify with Christianity, much less Catholicism, I want to include a purely secular iconic song that I think mirrors what the pope has to say. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/how-to-watch-pope-leo-xiv-deliver-a-special-message-during-mass-at-rate-field/3768270/ A late edit, to include something my wife reminded me, Pope Leo has called on Catholic clergy to step up and accompany immigrants to their court hearings. I am not Catholic, but I respect this pronouncement from the leader of the Catholic Church.
  12. We were among those hanging out under the trees. Tried to stay out of the way, but that never works. Folks kept finding us and so our protest turned into any other public event. A lot of yammering. Still, the best of reasons to show up in public. No mask. As I was being pulled over on the way home, I wondered for a moment if it was protest related. A black cop stepped up, and I relaxed. Expired sticker. Cop called it a fix it ticket.
  13. Good luck. Personally, I trust doctors more than politicians (and health insurance companies.) Here’s yet another reason why: https://www.npr.org/2025/06/13/nx-s1-5431935/rfk-hhs-covid-vaccine-schedule-faq
  14. I assume they are armed. We now live under the rule of gun.
  15. Nvm Pancho covered it.
  16. In my mind, all future protests against the regime are silent, except for the loudly broadcast loop of El Degüello.
  17. Gave CNN the chance to broadcast this chyron: “Federal Courts side with Trump on National Guard deployment.”
  18. During my time at UT I went downtown to ridicule a Nazi rally. Maybe four dozen people showed up to moon the Klan. So, this will be my second public protest.
  19. It bears repeating the old saw about the two types of people: those who believe it possible to have enough money to live in comfort and happiness, and those with money. Most importantly, we have learned that people have accumulated enough wealth to all but destroy our Constitution. They are demonstrably a threat to national security. Should the needle be threaded, confiscatory taxes on extreme wealth should be a priority.
  20. Yep. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
