  1. SMU. I’m pretty sure the Grateful Dead played, on 12/26/69, the same stage McFarlin, upon which I was handed my high school diploma. Other than that, I really never thought much about that place.
  2. Keep sucking Satan’s cock, @Incredulity.
  3. Evidence that elections are no deterrent to the R agenda.
  4. The Jewish jubilee came every fifty years, and slaves were freed, and land ownership reverted back to the original landholders. The Catholic Jubilee was pure grift. A year to sell indulgences. Edited to add the Catholic Jubilee happened every 25 years, with the option to have an additional Jubilee whenever it was (financially) necessary.
  5. TL/dr Grandson’s friend has been swallowed by the fascist state. Grandfather tells him to keep his head down, and, reminiscing, wonders what could have been done to stave off the stupids.
  6. “Jesus is the reason for the season” is funny to me. While He is the reason for the holiday, the season is about the return of the sun.
  7. For the folks, which will apparently include people born in the USA, who are refused entry into their country of origin. And, if history is any guide, those camps will become labor camps, providing starvation diets, before they become death camps.
  8. I’m curious about the countries to which turnip plans to deport folks. What if a country refuses to take them in?
  9. If I eat beets for dinner, my shit is red in the morning.
  10. If you don’t consume milk, then you’ll miss out on the first two beginner recipes for Indian food: yogurt and paneer.
  11. You’re a bummer. I guess the SCOTUS saying, in 1915, that acceptance of a pardon carries the admission of guilt no longer makes the matter clear. Color me surprised.
  12. A pardon carries the presumption of guilt, does it not? If Hunter is guilty, then fucking admit he is guilty, and underscore that accepting a pardon carries an admission of guilt. Drive that message, and roast Hunter while doing so.
  13. It shouldn’t. Only the flower’s stigma and styles, ie the crimson parts in the image.
  14. Almost certain that I’ve never stopped at DQ without ordering a hungerbuster and fries. DQ was the food stop for any and all sporting events up until high school. Football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. These were school events, mainly north of DFW. My family chose Brahms. My wife, otoh, could tell you which DQs between SA and Austin, west of 35 and east of Kerrville, had the “good ice,” and was jealous of Brahms’ quality.
  15. Well, alright!
  16. Well, if this country supported pregnancy, mothers, and raising children, with a fervor, and generous funding, I suspect significantly more women would choose to bring a baby into the world. But, we don’t. Healthcare. Child care. Lower wages. The cost of raising a kid is mountainous, and we don’t want to be burdened by increased taxation to create a more hospitable world.
  17. I get your confusion. Nuance is hard. FYI, I imagine the law is the same in Kansas, where the citizens voted in favor of legal abortion, which is legal until the fetus is viable. Same for California. Further, About six-in-ten US citizens (63%) say abortion should be legal in all or most cases. But, the individual ought make a decision for herself. A state with the power to ban abortion is a state with the power to force abortion.
  18. Almost had it, I said. What you continue to leave out of your reasoning is the woman who is carrying the fetus. You’re not alone, of course. You are with the group that includes folks who carry signs, like the one seen at Texas State earlier this month, that read: “Women are Property.”
  19. You’ve almost got it.
  20. He’s just like us! -magats
  21. Okay. I will stop engaging.
  22. The notion that children of progressives are more likely to have mental health issues.
  23. The Chinese gave it a go.
