Six locations in Central Texas suspected of hosting illegal gambling were investigated Friday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said its Criminal Intelligence Division and troopers, along with the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission conducted search warrant investigations. It did not specify which locations it targeted but said it was looking for gambling machines and other paraphernalia.

DPS did not specify where these investigations are taking place, but KXAN found DPS vehicles stationed outside two Pflugerville bars Friday Afternoon.

Marshall’s Tavern at 113 E Pecan St. and Edge of Town Saloon at 15601 Vision Drive both have DPS vehicles outside. The Edge of Town Saloon is also roped off with crime scene tape.

Do you feel safer now that we have LE agencies dedicated to this?

Meanwhile, Austin area seems to hover around 15% clearance rate on "index" crimes. (crimes they track in stats like property, agg. assault, etc.)

Save us from ourselves!!!

Meanwhile, the predatory loan industry is thriving here.

I hate our laws regarding much of the alcohol industry as well as the gambling scene.

Buncha folks are anti-liberty AF...

Well, we must have religious liberty and by that they mean the Christian liberty to impose their will and beliefs on everyone else.

We must be protected from ourselves... by somebody else.  That’s my favorite.

Sunday alcohol purchase laws, small brewer distribution & sales, as well as the lack of real casinos in Texas are all idiotic laws meant to line the pockets of certain people...um...I mean protect us from ourselves.

But brown and black people can still buy scratch off tickets, right?   Because gambling is immoral.

APD claims to be almost several hundred officers short, yet can set up speed traps during rush hour, when no one can even come close to hitting the speed limit.

I popped in to a bar in Pflugerville a few years back and there were poker machines everywhere. Dropped into a stool and played for a bit. Thought it was weird, but figured maybe things worked differently in Pflugerville.

I went to a place out west of San Antonio towards the border that had the machines. Pulled up about midnight. As I went to the door lady opens it and lets us in. They had cameras and let the door locked. There was ~50 slot machines in there. You could grab a free little bag of cheetos and a Dr Pepper. All of the machines were very old and obviuosly ones that casinos threw out a couple decades ago. To cash out it had to be over a certain amount, I don't remember how much. You would call the lady over and she would take a picture of the screen on her phone and give you the money. It was a weird experience. I googled after that, and found out the counties sell licenses for each machine. Yeah it's illegal but these poor counties are getting money. They are able to keep raising the price of the licenses because the machines make a killing.
