You've posted here years, and you know that RD is hardly representative of all Texas fans, and indeed on this very thread there are a wide variety of opinions about this potential move from all sorts of Texas fans, yet you're going to act like THIS is the sole impression you're able to glean? I generally like most Alabama fans I've met, but the attitude displayed in your post is exactly why some of us have the impression of dumbfuck Alabama fans that we do. Give it 5 years, once Texas finally stops shitting the bed in football and wins some games, you'll be bitching, "Texas is so mean and always tries to push around the rest of us" and posting conspiracy theories about how the LHN killed Alabama football.55 points

Welcome to the SEC! I’m a gator living in the ATX area and am excited to seeing UT and OU join. Not only is this great for football but baseball, basketball as well as other sports. It will be great to see some Gator games in Austin on occasion. Also, I don’t quite understand the angst of the Aggie’s. You’d think they’d be happy to have the rivalry be renewed. Are they just afraid? As Ric Flair said “If you want to be the man, you got to beat the man!” For me personally I wouldn’t mind FSU or Miami in the SEC. Anyways, hope this gets finalized and official soon.51 points

The reality is the opposite of what aggy told the world.... - they were the only school that demanded they keep their share of the orphan 5 money - then they left early so they would have the last home game - we tried to get them a 50% share of a tv network which they shit on - billboards showing their ass in waco, dallas and houston - then they blamed the LHN, even though they announced their "standing offer" 18 months before the LHN - when challenged for examples of our repression they foam at the mouth and go cornholio - along with smu they fedexed their way in to probation that got themselves kicked off tv which killed the SWC - legislation to force us to play them after they left (you will allow your former spouse to fuck you) - legislation to stop the move to PAC when the SWC was breaking up - pitched a fit when we were going to the PAC the second time after we got Stanford and Cal to agree to allow the jackboots in - and now legislation to stop the move to the SEC - you can't do what we did and that's just the highlights of the bullshit in last 40 years the list goes on and on and on, and finally, finally, the rest of the country outside secrant is getting a taste46 points

This has been fantastic, even better that a lot of national media types are recognizing and commenting on the insanity. The narrative has always been "big bad Texas". Look I'm sure we like any other partner can be a pain in the ass at times. If you are Nebraska yea you are pissed about partial qualifiers, if you are pissed about LHN so be it (though the narrative of that has been totally misshapen but whatevs) but by and large we put up with A LOT of bullshit from our supposed partners. There's Baylor who has a coach trying to cover up shady money by pinning the tag of drug dealer on the dead player he had been paying and oh fucking Art Briles and institutional cover up of rape/sexual assault spearheaded by the guy who prosecuted Clinton for getting his cock wet. You got Fatterson in Fort Worth trying to cover up drug rings all the while shitting on our heads in recruiting every chance he gets. You got OSU doing bush league shit like putting up a bunch of yellow lines on a jumbotron. The 2008 coaches poll/BCS FUCKERY. And don't even get me fucking started on the officiating over the last decade. Bitch bitch bitch, big bad Texas. And yet through all of that and even as our football team has routinely rolled around in its own shit our mantra has always been, we should be better than this, we demand to be better than this...let's fucking figure this out. All the while working with our hated rival on the field to hold shit together for a lot fucking longer than we should to the benefit of a lot of others besides the two of us. We have our flaws, just like any other organization but we are not some evil empire. As it turns out we are just surrounded by a bunch of fucking neurotic, petty, vindictive chihuahuas who don't ever shut the fuck up about how we are the root of all their problem. Maybe just maybe the sports world is finally getting a more transparent glimpse.45 points

So, We're Texas, but you are just like LSU, and Arkansas is just like Vandy right? And Tennessee loves being compared to Kentucky right? Texas is a Shark. OUsux is a shark. Both have no problem joining other sharks (Bama, Gator) in the ocean. Only the remora are scared and feeding you lies (aggy, Mizzou) as they used to be remora for Texas/OUsux. That you fall for it, is on you. We are supposedly so arrogant it drives people crazy. So who among us actually think we are an elite football team or have had an elite football team in the past decade? Who thinks it will be this coming year? Have you actually looked at the forums before or during a game? Most predicted a loss to Georgia. Hell, the saying "they are terrible, we should win convincingly" is sarcasm of the highest order because someone posted it seriously, only to have everyone else jump on them and repost it in jest. But if you lack the context you wouldn't know that. So take the word of the idiots, pathological liars, and compulsive cheaters for all I care. It is not as if it matters. We're Texas.40 points

OK, first, just wanted to make sure I remembered my login info. Been here since the beginning of this forum and got in at ShaggyBevo, before all the changes that started with name of the board and then...well, you know. Almost never post. This place can be as entertaining as a rollercoaster ride at times. 2nd, I remember the old SWC days. My first game to attend was the 1970 Wichita State game as a kindergartner. My dad was a high school coach and I went with his team. I was at the game where you beat us 13-9 in Fayetteville. I remember when Arkansas left the SWC. I remember how Frank and Darrell had the idea of traveling to SEC together, which got squirrelled. I have the honor of being taught to hate Longhorns in all manner and situations. AND I look forward to renewing the games and all the stuff that goes with it as you join the SEC (finally). You do not have programs that need you to be there to keep money coming in for broadcast rights. You don't have to fight for a professionally, if frustratingly at times, run conference. You may find that without all that off the field crap, you can concentrate solely on being the best program you can be. Welcome and get bent.40 points

Hahahahhaha this is absolute pure comedy. My god, they got their pants pulled down and spanked in public. So instead of pulling their pants up and moving on, they chose to take off their pants entirely, shit into them and then wear those pants as a hat35 points

The real question in all of this is not "Will Texas go to the SEC?" or "Will aggy threaten to leave the SEC in retaliation?" It's "Can I fucking read fast enough to stay current on this goddamn beautiful realignment thread?"33 points

Damn. Just spent two hours catching up on this thread. So, my wife (two UT degrees herself) and I have been utterly amused and surprised by how this has gone down. We have always known that aggy is a bunch of broken brains, with a completely warped worldview and an utter psychosis when it comes to their little brother syndrome. But even knowing that….the aggy reaction here has been hysterical, and just flat-out embarrassing. It would be one thing if they voiced their displeasure privately, and even used it to extract some concessions/favorable treatment. That’s what a rational actor would do. But not aggy. They just can’t read the room to save their lives. Instead, they are having a full-blown temper tantrum, in front of the whole world. They are the toddler, throwing himself on the floor in the middle of the restaurant, screaming and crying and pounding the floor, shouting nonsense, and smearing shit all over himself. Every person in the restaurant - including people who never even knew he existed till this moment - is watching the spectacle and thinking “Jesus, get a grip, man. You’re humiliating yourself.” It’s both hysterical and horrific to watch. I’m torn between laughing until I can’t breathe, and wanting to slap the shit out of them and say “get ahold of yourself! You’re a goddamned university, start acting like it!” And then…it now seems like they’re going to adopt a “wait, we loved this idea all along” stance? Even though the whole world just watched their tantrum in the middle of the room? It’s just….perfect. Aggy: zero days, zero hours, and zero minutes without being a national embarrassment. But goddamn….at least they’re goddamned comedy gold.30 points

I enjoy cheering for the underdog and generally find it offensive when people mock people for being from a small town or having a farming/agriculture background. I cheered for A&M for years because they're right next to the biggest brand in college football, and everyone hates on their school for being an FFA convention with 70k attendees. Then I started interacting with their fans. They often act like a caricature of a fan - delusional and mean-spirited in ways that seem almost ironically humorous. Many are so intense that they'd actually take issue with my first sentence - I've actually offended A&M fans in the past when I mentioned that I cheered for them because I want the underdog to win. They'll often use foul language, revert immediately to personal attacks and vigorously argue points that are entirely detached from logic or reality. Some on this board like to criticize Ute fans, but I can promise you that A&M fans are several orders of magnitude worse than what we've seen with Utah, Boise or even Wyoming. And then once the switch flips and you start hating the Aggies, you realize that it's dang fun! They have a hideous campus and are so oddly proud of it. Everything (from Freshman orientation/Fish Camp to walking under a tree) is a tradition there, to the point of absurdity. They have a program where students LARP as Spanish Civil War-era soldiers - and they're proud of it! Their fight song "Aggie War Hymn" sounds like it was written by an illiterate third-grader and has a bunch of nonsense baby-talk words. And so forth... It's eventually becomes a game of its own to find new ways to poke fun at A&M. https://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=2652708324 points

The irony of us moving the SEC is glorious. The Brocks could have had Flood, SEC and a 3rd generation legacy.....they chose poorly. Now momma and daddy get to see their pride and joys play inconference against Texas. Can't wait. Fuck the Brocks.22 points

This thread deserves the "comeback player of the year" award. For years, and years, and years, it was nothing but dogshit. And now, possibly the greatest thread ever. Securing the financial future of Texas football, putting us at the apex of the competitive landscape, and completely fucking aggy over and exposing their insecurities to the entire college football world? All in one thread? Fantastic.21 points

so just for a recap to make sure I have everything so far: Texas and OU look to be making the move to the sec Everyone says OU is let looking to the future but that UT is heartless and evil even though they are both leaving in the exact same way everything was done in secret thru a law firm for a few months at least, a deal could be very close SEC leadership totally left Mizzou and aggy out of the discussion and agreed to work on the deal with UT effectively behind aggy and mizzous back because of their Col. Sanders, mint julep country gentleman’s hand shake which supposedly gave aggy power over UT and OU entering the league *Sharp and the Aggie president new about it but had to keep their AD in the dark according to Finebaum. Aggy finds out thru the board of regents meeting where the plans were revealed either thru necessity or by a leaker Aggy didn’t take it well, news gets to The Chronicle and we have a report that causes Texags to crash. Big Xii finds out and loses their shit since the remaining 8 are essentially fucked. Some of us feel bad for OSU and KSU, but not many. aggy throws a huge apoplectic public tantrum where they insinuate they are going to look into to how to respond to such an outrage possibly by moving conferences, blocking in TX legislator or suing the SEC in gentleman's court for being naughty. Am I missing anything?19 points

I hope aggie leaves, and Oklahoma State comes a knocking and the sec says, "Nah, we have a gentleman's agreement to only have one sec team per state."19 points

Back when it was an all male school, this little tradition developed where the fans/students squeeze their nuts to feel the same pain the team is feeling by playing hard. As with all things aggy, it’s weird because it started when they were basically a giant frat for wayward youth but they treat their traditions as dogma. Yes this is a serious post.18 points

we don't have fans that call in to tv shows that sound like zoo animals 2 things not going for you: - we will get the opportunity to avenge the cheap shot on colt more often than a once-a generation home-and-home - we are preparing to weaponize the new landscape, and a fully functional deathstar is not something saban wants to stick around in his 70s to coach against17 points

I don’t know what the future holds and if it will be good or bad, but dammit if it’s not worth aggy showing their red ass to everyone. It’s like your crazy ex-wife you never talk bad about for the kids looses her shit and shows everyone what you’ve put up with for 15 years. Just let actions speak for themselves16 points
