  1. Montrose café and bar going up in former Etro space I was hoping for laid back bar where I could order a cheap beer or a wine for my date. I suppose this will do. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainment/restaurants-bars/article/Montrose-cafe-and-bar-going-up-in-former-Etro-13700477.php The former Etro Lounge nightclub in Montrose that closed last year and moved to new digs downtown will be home to a new all-day concept that will offer coffee, wine and a menu from a James Beard Award-winning chef. Details for Penny Quarter – a Montrose Café & Bar were announced Tuesday, a project expected to open in early June from a team that includes the principals of Better Luck Tomorrow and the upcoming Squable in the Heights. Situated just behind Anvil at 1424 Westheimer, Penny Quarter will be a two-level space inspired by Montrose's café and bar culture, serving high quality coffee, wine and a simple menu from morning to night. The café and bar's wine list will feature about 100 options, in addition to a beer list and a small selection of spirits (no cocktails). The coffee program will draw from the best coffee available from roasters both local and national. For the food menu, Yu will offer a morning menu of 10 to 12 dishes such as pistachio butter and burnt honey toast, spicy fried egg and bacon sandwich, and rice bowl with sausage and salsa verde. An evening menu of eight to 10 dishes might feature light snacks, salads and more substantial dinner options such as crispy grilled cheese and Yu's take on chicken and rice.
  2. You wear sandals with jeans. Seems like you are one of those guys that pay.
  3. The Chase portal almost always tries to scam me for international flights. Chase wants $100k to fly to Frankfurt in June unless I take two connections. Transfer to United and it's 30k miles.
  4. Yeah, I have never heard of a Texas fan talk shit about another team even though they aren't in the same conference. Ever...
  5. Around May/June of last year
  6. Rockets are playing YMCA basketball
  7. It's also better than walking a mile in 98 degree weather
  8. I got a coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free. They must be struggling. I might as well walk over there and use it. edit: Or maybe I will keep walking and visit Papa Geno's
  9. Exactly what Greenspoint said. I went to La Vibra Taco and wasn't impressed. Maybe it was an off night, but it should not take 15 minutes to get two tacos. I ordered Oaxacan cheese as an extra and it destroyed the flavor of the meet because there was so much melted cheese. The corn tortillas were falling apart. They should use two tortillas on the tacos. Texadelphia will always be below average food.
  10. I would say this is a good rebuilding season or two for the Texans, but that doesn't make sense with Watt, Clowney, Hopkins, and Mercilus on the roster.
  11. Reminds me of Doug Jones. He made batters look stupid with his changeup. Shiity video
  12. Have you ever met a teenager?
  13. Not in Houston. I ride my scooter around occasionally, but the roads are horrible. I used to ride mine downtown but quit.
  14. Turner did try to negotiate an annual raise for the next 5 years until they reach the 25% pay raise, but the firefighters turned that deal down. So the next step was layoffs to pay that 25% immediately.
  15. I thin Mez and UtPhil are going to bail on me. Again....
  16. That is horrible news. It's always fun out there hanging out with strangers. Plus there is booze.
  17. No one gives home team discounts unless they are in their final years of playing ball
  18. And you are correct. I came home after a late Wednesday happy hour reading the last page and responded to some replies without reading the full story. I still stand by my comments about trafficking though.
  19. I'm pretty damn liberal. It must suck to be someone that has to pay for a handjob because you can't get laid. Go for it, but that isn't me for me and I find it disgusting. Just do it at a legit place and not one of those shady massage parlors.
  20. ^^^^Correct I haven't read anything but the last page on this thread, but you are ignorant if you think massage parlors aren't a hub for sex tracking. Some of these girls live in deplorable living conditions with suitcases inside the spas. This is a good article. https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/the-lost-girls/
  21. There's a bunch of stupid on this thread. I guess some here don't mind sex trafficking.

  24. The Harris County District Attorney's Office is broadening its review of cases to include the work of another officer linked to the botched Pecan Park drug raid that left two dead and five officers injured, officials said Monday. More than 800 cases handled by Officer Steven Bryant - who has already been relieved of duty - are now up for review. Of those, roughly 30 are currently pending in court. The move comes weeks after prosecutors announced a review of more than 1,400 cases involving Officer Gerald Goines, the embattled narcotics agent behind the Jan. 28 raid that ended in the deaths of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas. Houston Police Department previously relieved Bryant of duty as questions mounted about the circumstances behind the raid. In a search warrant for Bryant's phone data, an investigator with HPD's Special Investigations Unit wrote that Bryant told investigators he had retrieved two bags of heroin from the center console of Goines' police car at the instruction of another officer. That, however, was not consistent with the affidavit used to obtain the warrant for the Jan. 28 raid, in which Goines wrote that Bryant identified heroin brought out of the house. Though he took the two bags of drugs for testing to determine that they were heroin, Bryant eventually told investigators he had never seen the narcotics in question before retrieving them from the car. The scandal -- one of the worst to hit HPD in years -- prompted Acevedo to conduct a wide-ranging audit of the Narcotics Division and promise to equip warrant teams with body cameras and to end the use of most no-knock raids. The FBI also opened a rare civil rights investigation into the circumstances behind the allegedly fake warrant. Houston Police Officers' Union President Joe Gamaldi declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation into the matter.
