  3. Why OKC having Big 12 and SEC softball tournaments isn't impossible https://www.statesman.com/hookem/ I agree with your sentiments but the above is a headline from a paywall article in today's AAS. I can see the SEC agreeing for the tournament to be in OKC for attendance purposes similar to the SEC Baseball Tournament which is held at a minor league park in Hoover, AL. B12 may want to go to the team park rotation due to less attendance after the departure of OU and Texas. Sponsor Phillips 66 will have a say on the final outcome. Edit: That article is from the Daily Oklahoman reprinted by the AAS. Sry I don't have.

Hopefully, they can complete the series today before the rain. Round Rock - SA Reagan Westlake - SA Brandeis Bowie - SA Johnson

Hope they play. Welcome home UTA head coach Texas-Ex Clay Van Hook, member of the '05 National Champions. Mike Taylor who coached with Pierce at Rice is an assistant. They are doing a good job. UTA was 15-39 last year, 7-23 in conf. 23-21 this year, 15-9 in WAC, 3rd place. Play lst place SHSU this weekend. Hook 'Em Clay, just not tonight.
  9. Is there info available on the cost of EV vs ICE (gas) vehicle insurance ?
  10. D1 Baseball Chat today. Normally paywalled, found it to be free. Good info on the entire college baseball landscape. Also mentions TCU, WVU, Tech, OKSt. Worth the entire read. Note how well the Carolina teams are doing. https://d1baseball.com/chats/d1baseball-weekly-chat-may-8/ Asked about Texas hosting. Did not mention possibility of winning conference as slight as it may be. Kendall Rogers 3:19 Texas' RPI is sitting at 25 right now. Let's say the Longhorns win that series against WVU to end the regular season and play well in Arlington, it's not out of the realm of possibility. But this is not a resume with much meat on the bone with an 8-14 record vs RPI Top 50. Long shot
  11. The Longhorns (40-12-1, 11-7 Big 12 Conference) will play No. 7-seeded Texas Tech in the opening round at 3 p.m. A win there puts them in the tournament semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday with the tournament final at 2 p.m. Saturday. https://www.kxan.com/sports/no-5-texas-swept-by-baylor-to-end-regular-season-no-2-seed-in-big-12-tourney/
  12. In Friday's AAS, MW stated that an opponent's offense will excel but the team has to battle back. Said he was most disappointed in scoring only 1 run. MW will always substitute offense for defense even after 1 game. Cimusz makes that play and doesn't make the error Day did on Friday. Positive: Citaly is a warrior.
  13. @HenryJames posted in the Texas Baseball thread. https://texassports.com/news/2023/5/4/t-association-ut-athletics-announces-2023-spring-commencement-participants.aspx Constantine, Lummus, Walbridge, Brown, Carlson, Duplantier, and Morehouse all graduated or will graduate by the summer. Former players Cole Quintanilla and Cameron Rupp will as well.

Watched Alabama beat Vanderbilt tonight 11-2 behind Luke Holman (pitcher who was scratched before the LSU game). Holman is a stud, 7 inn, 4H, 7K's, 1 walk. Alabama players looked relaxed and having fun.

    2023 NCAA Baseball

Article on the issue. Looking at the stats, Moza had only pitched 7 inn this year, rarely used on weekends, second worst era on the team. Friday game, bullpen was rested. Tough for the players, overall #22 rpi, postseason team at this time. Excerpt: LSU, ranked No. 1 nationally, won by a final score of 8-6. However, a possibly unusual sequence of events during the bottom of the sixth inning when the Tigers were hitting helped them secure the win. LSU, the significant betting favorite before the game, was up 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth. According to a game recap from SECSports.com, with the bases loaded and two outs, pitcher Aidan Moza replaced Kade Woods for the Crimson Tide. Moza hit the first batter he faced with the first pitch he threw, forcing in a run. He then walked the next two batters, giving up two more runs. By the time he secured the third out, LSU had blown the game open by extending its lead to 7-1. Those three runs allowed by Moza proved crucial when the Crimson Tide’s rally in the ninth inning fell short. Alabama lost by two. “LSU scores off hit-by-pitch and two straight walks to go up 7-1. What’s happening here?” said an SEC baseball analyst in a video recap of the game. The sixth inning proved the most pivotal of the game for the Tigers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything nefarious happened in the inning. Moza has not been accused of any wrongdoing. Furthermore, no player on either team has been accused of wrongdoing in the game. https://www.forbes.com/betting/baseball/lsu-alabama-scandal/
  17. Really need to play a game before the Baylor series to hopefully sweep and secure 2nd place in conference, maintain RPI, etc. Fielding .966 in conference, highest in MW era (knock on wood). Be nice to be in the .970's.
  18. Saw this story from the Louisville paper about Van Lith. Seems it was not a surprise for her to leave to enhance her WNBA and NLI stock. Excerpts, story worth a click. @Js1 story mentions words between Mulkey and Walz after Louisville's upset of Griner and Baylor in 2013. Do you recall any details ? That’s certainly part of the reason why leaving U of L felt necessary. She’s out to redefine who she is as a player and that may be easier to achieve at LSU surrounded by a more talented lineup that should help make running the team easier. Van Lith established a relationship with LSU coach Kim Mulkey in high school. Her final two college choices came down to U of L and Baylor, where Mulkey coached at the time. Mulkey seems to embrace players with big personalities like Van Lith. That was evident in the way she didn't try to suppress star forward Angel Reese through the season. And LSU guard Flau'Jae Johnson has music aspirations that she said many coaches recruiting her tried to discourage, but not Mulkey. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/college/louisville/2023/04/27/hailey-van-lith-made-right-call-leaving-louisville-basketball-for-lsu/70123331007/

  20. Sry prof, we posted at same time. Can't get to delete. @bschoolprof
  21. B12 is the #1 RPI Conference due to 3 in top 10 ? Regardless, hope we finish ahead of OKSt, but... Amazed OKSt only went down 1 spot (correct ?) in RPI and we only went up 1 or 2 ? Suppose their overall strength of schedule. Tech could take one from them in Lubbock and OU could sweep, though they play in Stillwater. Not sure of impact of conference tournament if you win 2 games. KennyG has a task to regroup the team after the sweep, similar to Pierce and Texas Baseball. Not an easy task. Below predictions were 21 April prior to this weekend's action but mainly gives some idea how other conferences are viewed as of 21 April. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa-womens-softball-rpi https://www.ncaa.com/news/softball/article/2023-04-20/2023-softball-field-64-predicted-d1softball NORMAN CLEMSON 1. 22. More concerned about the RPI. Any chance of finishing top 8 or even top 10 ? OU beat Baylor 7-0 last night in Waco, DH today. Was hoping for a miracle on the Brazos but not to be.
  23. Just a guess, they likely did not choose to request a waiver to the 72hr rule (series complete by team's arrival) and more importantly there is a 50-60% chance of rain on Sunday (showers, not heavy like yesterday). Any positive is that it is a good "dry run" for the postseason.
  24. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/af33f412a374076d1c22726da64dfc60951a6df5af4c21674b40e8d70b5d3753 80 - 90% chance of t'storms tonight. In other news, OKSt and Wichita St have developed quite a rivalry. Only 128 miles apart. Check article link for more info. As js mentioned, they will be angry. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/top-college-softball-team-stunned-by-epic-go-ahead-hr/ar-AA1a4fVW?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=8772c3396a07
  25. And especially after eliminating them in last year's WCWS. Would be nice to get Bella back. These games are where she excels. However, postseason is more important. Edit: Look for KennyG to test Atwood's arm.
