  1. Not exactly. 14 transfers this year in key positions. And Duggan always mentions the culture change Dykes instilled. “Recruiting is not always about finding the bigger, fastest guys,” Dykes said. “Sometimes it’s about finding, especially from a transfer perspective, somebody who can come in and move the needle in a room.” TCU brought in 14 total transfers this season, coming up big in positions of need. The fact that the transfers were coming in with a blank slate just like a new coaching staff helped too. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/tcu-horned-frogs/2022/12/27/how-tcu-sonny-dykes-used-the-transfer-portal-to-move-the-needle-toward-cfb-playoff/
  2. Hope the parking for you and your Dad worked out OK ?
  3. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/23/supply-chain-managers-expect-problems-continue-2024.html Disappointing article about the future of the supply chain. Let's hope this is over pessimistic and relief is found. (excerpt) More than half of logistics managers at major companies and trade groups say they do not expect the supply chain to return to normal until 2024 or after, according to a new CNBC survey. Sixty-one percent of respondents said their current supply chain is not operating normally, compared with 32% that said it is functioning normally. When questioned when they see a return to normalcy, 22% were unsure, 19% said 2023, and 30% said 2024. Another 29% said in or after 2025, or never.

Not sure of timeline, I think you can transfer before completion of 2 years. AFA just had a baseball player transfer to LSU.
  7. Steele vs Lake Travis. Heard SA TV was broadcasting.

    F cancer.

Thoughts and prayers, lilMac ! Some excellent advice above.
  9. iirc, schedule has been released early December. Ticket info seems to be later this year, may want to call ticket office 512-471-3333. Look forward to your game photos (was you, if not mistaken ?)
  10. He is an expert in recruiting for exact need, not wasting slots, and going out of state for key players.
  11. Per TV guide, LHN replay at 9PM tonight and noon Sat. Likely other replays later. Others may address the hitting and hopefully add comments on all. Pitching did not look bad. Pierce was concerned about walks per LHN interview. Tole (Ark transfer) looks like the real deal. Disappointed that Sthele did not show improvement, really needs some off speed, more sharp breaking stuff. iirc, Starters, key pitchers from last year did not throw except Sthele. Grubbs, freshman, looks good. Guillemette seems to be solid at catcher. Not really challenged with steals, seems to handle pitchers well, had a double. Not sure of the leading backup, likely Schuessler and will be pressed by Galvan. Flores (3B) and Thomas as advertised. As @BillyGoatHill mentioned above, Thomas looks real comfortable at 1B and his footwork is excellent. Keep an eye on Jayden Duplantier, looked slick at 2B, scrappy hitter with excellent speed. Witt is coaching the Returners, Harrison the Newcomers. Harrison mentioned in LHN interview he has a sore elbow and is in rehab with limited throwing. Says it will not need surgery. We have seen that movie before. Sore elbows seem to always lead to TJ, hopefully not in his case.
  12. Good comments in the OP. Certainly not an insider or BMD, but heard from key people in the know that Bill Powers was very key in the Strong hire, very key.
  13. Games are said to be on LHN but not sure the current LHN TV guide is correct for the Fri and Sun games.
  14. Appreciate your comments. Based on the two Fall games you saw, thoughts on the other infield defense, Daly/O'Dowd/Thomas and Guillemette at catcher ? Thanks !
  15. OPEC statement today: Seems to echo the statements by the oft criticized, but lovable @Porterhouse 🙂 (excerpts) OPEC raised its forecasts for world oil demand in the medium-and longer-term in an annual outlook released on Monday and said$12.1 trillion of investment is needed to meet this demand despite the energy transition. The view from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, in its 2022 World Oil Outlook, contrasts with that of other forecasters which see oil demand reaching a plateau before2030 due to the rise of renewable energy and electric cars. "The overall investment number for the oil sector is $12.1trillion out to 2045," OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais wrote in the foreword to the report, which said the figure was up from last year's estimate. "However, chronic underinvestment into the global oil industry in recent years, due to industry downturns, theCOVID-19 pandemic, as well as policies centred on ending financing in fossil fuel projects, is a major cause of concern. "OPEC made a shift in 2020 when the pandemic hit demand, saying it would eventually slow after years of predicting ever-increasing consumption. In the report, OPEC maintained its view that world demand will plateau after 2035.Other predictions from companies and banks see oil demand peaking earlier. The International Energy Agency on Thursday for the first time in its history of modelling said demand for all fossil fuels was set to peak, with oil demand levelling off in the middle of the next decade. The report said world oil demand will reach 103 million barrels per day in 2023, up 2.7 million bpd from 2022. The 2023total demand is up 1.4 million bpd from last year's prediction. OPEC also raised its demand forecasts for the medium term to2027, saying the figure is up by almost 2 million bpd by the end of the period from last year. It said the upward revision reflects a more robust recovery now seen in 2022 and 2023 and a "strong focus on energy security issues" leading to a slower substitution of oil by other fuels such as natural gas, whose price has soared due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. By 2030, OPEC sees world demand averaging 108.3 million bpd, up from 2021, and lifted its 2045 figure to 109.8 million bpd from 108.2 million bpd in 2021. The group had lowered the 2045projection over the last few years. OPEC and its allies, known as OPEC+, are again cuttingsupply to support the market. The report sees supply restraint continuing in the medium term, with OPEC output in 2027 lower than in 2022 as non-OPEC supply grows. Still, OPEC is upbeat about its later prospects, seeing its market share rising. U.S. tight crude supply is seen peaking after the late 2020s, rather than around 2030 last year. "Oil is expected to remain the number one fuel in the global primary energy mix," the report said. OPEC raises long-term oil demand view, calls for investment | Reuters

  17. What's next for Yankees? Three key questions with futures of Aaron Judge, Aaron Boone uncertain after sweep - CBSSports.com Seems to be a good summary. Thoughts, @Helobious ? Hal Steinbrenner needs to grow a pair. His father would be ashamed. Cashman and Boone are very questionable. (excerpt) The Yankees are not the "World Series or bust" team under Hal Steinbrenner that they were under George. They can say whatever they want publicly. Their actions point to a team that prioritizes being good enough to get to the postseason and not much more, and if they run into a championship one of these years, great. Otherwise the postseason is too unpredictable to get hung up on the outcome of a short series.
  18. 21 -1 final. Speed, athleticism, small ball. No errors. Gutierrez needs experience but will contribute. Not shy, attacks the hitter. Lot of talent. Keeping ‘em all happy with PT may be a challenge. Need to find a leader in the infield like Janae, Bella has the outfield.
  19. vs Odessa College, 6PM, today, LHN. Looking forward to seeing freshman Citlaly Gutierrez, RHP. With only limited info available, seems like she has performed well this Fall.
  20. Saw this article today which may be beneficial to those with family members affected by Alzheimer's/ Dementia. Fortunately, my family has yet to be affected (knock on wood) but this article seems to offer good advice. Very lengthy, but worth the read. (excerpt) "Are you watching 60 Minutes?" she asked. I paused. I hadn't watched the news-magazine show in decades, but I knew it aired on Sunday nights, not Thursdays. I also knew how confused Alzheimer's had made my mother-in-law. But Alzheimer's had robbed her of her focus, and often her words. I knew how hard that was for her, how she became frustrated to the point of tears when she couldn't make herself understood. If she thought she was watching 60 Minutes on a night it wasn't on, I was not about to disagree with her. "Yes, I'm watching 60 Minutes!" I said instantly. It was the right answer. In a happy, satisfied voice, she said, "They're a nice couple, aren't they?" Couple? Who was the couple? Mike Wallace and Morley Safer? Weren't they dead? It didn't matter. "Yes!" I said. https://www.cnet.com/science/how-to-talk-to-a-loved-one-who-has-dementia-never-say-no/
  21. Forgot to add this quote from the article. However, there have been calls from legislators to stop selling oil from what is meant to be a strategic reserve, to be used in a time of emergency. As inventories stand now, the U.S. would only have enough SPR oil for 22 days of consumption in case of an actual emergency. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Biden-Plans-To-Refill-The-SPR-When-Oil-Prices-Fall-Below-72.html
