  1. I was trying to think about what follow-up attacks similar to the pager double-tap might be possible in this scenario. Maybe the ensuing scramble helps reveal the locations of remaining air assets and air defense, which can then be targeted in smaller-scale attacks.
  2. Trump ‘Seriously Considering’ Lifting All Biden-Era Restrictions on Ukraine’s War Effort, Sources Say US and German officials will discuss the next phase of Ukrainian support and Russian sanctions during meetings in Washington this week, including lifting range restrictions on interdiction in Russia https://www.kyivpost.com/post/53404
  3. Now, give them the Taurus (It might be happening: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/kremlin-says-enhanced-missile-range-ukraine-would-be-dangerous-2025-05-26/ )

  6. I almost left that part out because I know people sometimes disagree. The full qualifier for this is: people behave irrationally all of the time. It's a standard focus of CBT to address irrational thoughts and behaviors. I'm using the term differently (and maybe I should just use "understandably" instead) to get across that if we could see it from their perspective, we would see that they aren't actually doing and thinking things without rationale. There are reasons for their behavior, even if the thoughts, actions, and feelings that follow from those reasons may not be proportionate, healthy, conducive to dialogue, etc. Once we understand the underlying rationale (fear, tiredness, jealousy, overwhelmed, overstimulated by screens, etc), it's much easier to know how to address and, in a child's case, redirect or teach different ways to handle the situation.
  7. It's also probably worth considering the role of technology in his attitude and temper. Adults, much less children, were not made to have constant dopamine surges at their fingertips. Coming down off of that screen time can have severe effects on anyone's mood, and even more so for a child. The impact it has differs child to child, too. Take note of when he has these dysregulated outbursts and consider his world at that point in time. Adopt a posture of curiosity about him and the situation. What has been going on in the last few minutes, hours, and days that might be playing a role here? People are generally rational and if they seem irrational, you might be missing important context that makes their behavior rational to them (this of course does not mean the behavior is desirable, acceptable, healthy, etc). Become determined to find the understandable part and then move from that towards walking him through how to handle those situations in a more healthy and regulated way. This of course requires a significant amount of patience and time and is not always possible or feasible in the moment, but can be addressed later that evening or the following morning when everyone has had some time to process.
  8. To be fair, it's much easier to believe it when you really want/need to be true.
  9. I bet he could give a mean campus tour for most D1 universities.

  11. Merz just elected chancellor. Probably a good thing for Ukraine as long as this doesn't weaken him too significantly.
  12. Germans need to get it together. They're currently scrambling to try to quickly hold a second round of votes. Friedrich Merz’s bid to become Germany’s chancellor fails in parliament in a stunning defeat https://apnews.com/article/germany-government-merz-coalition-98e9007ea41b8bbd36be8d09baefb632

  14. Last time I checked, around 25% of marriages experience an affair, and between 25% and 50% of those couples stay together, depending on the study. Most who stay together report a much closer relationship than before the infidelity occurred.

  18. More contemporary services are highly emotive and geared towards the "moment". We recently moved to a more traditional service that has much greater diversity of engagement during the service. Hymns, some liturgy, greet your neighbor, creed, prayer, choral performance, sermon, etc. My wife and I get so much more out of if than any modern-style service. Everyone of different in how they connect to the divine of course. I'm just mentioning it because I related to some of the thoughts you were expressing here. Every church needs folks like you who are extremely service oriented.
  19. Yeah, after hearing more of the context, Rubio's comments are not clear. It is clear that Russia has been the one delaying, while Ukraine has been more engaged. So, does "move on" for Rubio mean move from these peace attempts and on to the next step (stronger sanctions on Russia/ greater (any) support for Ukraine), or does "move on" mean "totally disengage". I think that's probably an open question within the factions of the administration, but we have seen which way those debates have gone over the last few months.
  20. Some are interpreting his comments negatively, but I took it to mean "we're not staying on this fence any longer." So, I see it as a positive that the admin will finally decide whether Russia actually wants a deal or not.
