  1. To be fair, he was defending himself against an Aggie fan that thought it was ridiculous to suggest Broughton was on the same level as Leal. EJ said he liked Leal a lot, but he also likes Broughton.
  2. There seems to be a real chance for this to be a class that has no fluff and just a ton of 4 and 5 stars. Card, Parr, Majors, Cooper, Garth in. Washington, Collins, Dorbah, Prince, Lindberg, Scott all seem like heavy leans. Evans feels like a lean even though we won't know for almost a year. Then Ringo, Broughton, Jackson, Thompson, Flowe, Wilson are all realistic to hopeful. It seems realistic that this class could be better overall than the past two even if it doesn't score as high.
  3. I feel like 2020 WRs could end up a lot like 2019 DBs where the amount of talent on campus encourages the top in state guys to go elsewhere. I almost don't blame them. Bru McCoy, Josh Moore, Brennan Eagles, Jordan Whittington, Jake Smith and Mookie Cooper makes six top 100 composite receivers to compete against. Not to mention Washington, Woodard and Lewis. It's a nice problem to have.
  4. Watched EJ's Periscope with Chad Lindberg and I come away pretty confident about our chances. For several reasons: -He said playing with guys he likes who are intelligent football players is important to him and talked about how he gets along with the Texas commits. -Mentioned that even if he likes Stanford, Texas will still be up at the top. -Mentioned, without being asked, that Zach Evans REALLY cares about the O-line he plays with. -Loves Hand and flat out said he liked Hand more than the A&M O-line coach. -Sort of sounds like the kind of guy who still wants to see schools but is heavily, heavily leaning towards Texas.
  5. I could actually see this since we seem to be recruiting him harder than everyone else.
  6. This is the important part to focus on. I'm just saying we don't need to do the same with Demas in response to their delusion.
  7. Our offense in 2008 compared to 2009 makes Shipley look pretty important. There are exceptions. I think I feared Tylon Wallace and Hollywood Brown more than any running back in the big 12 last season. Also Donta Foreman is the best running back we've had in a decade and we were pretty bad building an offense around him.
  8. I think the Demas talk is ironically going in a very aggy direction here. He's a great prospect. We would love to have him. He's a better overall prospect than Shepherd. Evans is a really good prospect too. If he was committed to us we would be comparing him to the AJ Green types simply because of his body type and 5 star status. It happens.
  9. Lindberg said, "not committed but... looking." Yall have old man ears.
  10. I think 5 of the top 10 guys on 247s list from 2016 are already about to be 1st round picks. Maybe more. We can do this dance a thousand times, but the recruiting rankings, while imperfect, are a good indicator of talent. Using exceptions to disprove this misses the point.
  11. Maybe all these fans will antagonize CJ to the point where Evans just commits early. One can dream.
  12. Listened to Chris Bosh on the Bill Simmons podcast. Simmons asked him about the best PFs he ever faced and he doesnt even mention Dirk. I'm convinced that whole trio never came to terms with the fact that an awkward white European dude was better than them for a series.
  13. Either you're obtuse or dense. Either way, this conversation isn't worth the energy it takes to type it.
  14. We're talking about grading a QB right now, not an overall team. He had over 300 yards passing and 90 yards rushing in game 1. His team put up 45 points. He had 379 yards passing in game 2. His team put up 39 points. I'm just saying he's dangerous in the pocket.
  15. And future Wins as well. Which are more likely when you are able to rest your starters late in games. Or build depth by getting younger guys playing time. And keeping younger players happy as they see the field more and don't decide to transfer, leading to more "W column" additions later on. Blowing teams out is a good thing. We knew 2005 Texas was better than 2009 Texas well before the championship game.
  16. Texas' gameplan against him was to keep him in the pocket by essentially telling our pass rushers to sit back and wait for him. It did not work.
  17. I think he'll be successful. Or at the very least, if he is unsuccessful, I don't think it will be because he takes such huge hits. I know it's the common talk on here, but huge hits on QBs are kind of dead in the NFL. You're less safe in college now.
  18. As much as it annoys me that S&P punishes teams for playing conservative and winning close games, it would be nice if Texas would start blowing teams out again. If you can beat Oklahoma and Georgia, you should blow out Tulsa and Kansas. S&P is pretty much right about that. So Texas should start doing that because that sounds fun...
  19. You can require them to stay 6 semesters in order to transfer and immediately be eligible, but you can't make them stay 6 semesters in general. Kids still deserve the option to sit out a year if they're unhappy or have issues. So it's possible we still get McCoy under that rule if he really is okay with sitting out a year instead of staying at USC.
  20. Also, I think part of the Mavs plan to keep KP healthy is to allow him to play like Dirk did where he's not having to grind in the paint by himself or anchor the team as the rebounding presence. I think they want someone else to come in and take the bumps and bruises and free up KP to be a pick and roll/pick and pop player who helps out to block shots.
  21. I don't know what free agent this is if we can't get KD, Klay or Kawhi. I definitely don't want Jimmy Butler aka worst teammate in basketball. Terrence Ross and Danny Green seem to be the next best unrestricted free agent wings that fit that description. Pretty big drop off. Unless we use the cap space to trade for someone, I think it's going to be Vucevic.
  22. The problem with this is it would use up some of our cap room and I'm pretty sure they want to go get Vucevic or Mirotic or someone.
  23. "It was personal. It had nothing to do with me or my coaching ability."
  24. Not that it could ever happen, but the perfect moment of irony would be if KD chose Dallas over New York this summer because he wants to play with Luka and KP. I think that might actually end the Knicks franchise.
