  1. https://www.axios.com/2024/07/21/joe-biden-step-aside-2024-joe-manchin Joe Manchin has unsurprisingly joined the “pass the torch” crew. 38 Democratic Members of Congress now. If you believe the rumors there will be close to triple 36 tomorrow. Even with the SS hearing on the Hill regarding the assassination attempt. the optics we all know suck. Trump is saying Dems are socialists that are trying to ignore 14 million votes in favor of putting their own candidate in the mix and forcing Biden out. The Dems are going to let him have the optics of running against “no clear opponent” for a couple of weeks while the Repubs take in the cash hand over fist. I don’t know if the rumors are true about this many Congressional Dems defecting tomorrow and joining the now 38 but if there is not any announcement or signal from Biden he will step aside I guess we will find out.
  2. I mean pretty much all of us (unless some are lying) are voting for Dem Candidate. Whether it’s Biden or Kamala (best choice as I have stated numerous times) or mini-primary winner. The issue with VOTERS outside of the CR is telling them “hey if Biden dies it doesn’t matter bc you get Kamala. You aren’t necessarily voting for the top of the ticket.” It’s not a sell that can work. Especially with his own party continuing to go to work on him with lead pipes. this isn’t encouraging at all. But people need to vote regardless. And do what they can be it volunteer or donate. But most especially vote. the message may suck if he doesn’t step aside but we have the message to vote.
  3. Biden’s X going hard: Biden Twitter still fighting. He may or may not write the tweets but he oks them. This doesn’t sound to me like someone “stepping aside” tomorrow. Or Monday. So I guess we will see if the rumors are true of a massive blue wave of defections and possibly even more pressure exerted on him. It’s not worked so far. I don’t know what else to say and just hope if he continues to ride we can make it work somehow. pictured Trump new ear dressing. How many Halloween costumes this year with the white square patch?
  4. Picture is from NYT articles I posted an article from AP Press which talks about Pelosi. CNN reported that she and Obama have met much since the debate and are in lockstep. Biden has said he’s heading out to campaign. All this has been reported. Nancy doesn’t want Kamala anointed. what else needs sourcing? A person familiar with Pelosi’s thinking said that while she is a friend and admirer of the vice president, she believes that anybody who wants to be president is better served by such a process, believing that whoever emerges as the candidate would be strengthened to win the election. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to characterize Pelosi’s thought process. Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, a Pelosi ally who has called on Biden to step aside, said Friday on MSNBC that some kind of “mini-primary” that would include Harris makes sense.” https://apnews.com/article/biden-campaign-democrats-election-trump-2b1c163c863130675b3b5b60718741c8 i can pull any quotes or articles you want. What needs sourcing?
  5. My question is since many of you have followed Nancy Pelosi longer than I have: she is said to play strategic 5 Dimensional chess. We know she has a lot of power/sway. We know she has privately met with Obama a couple of times since the debate. They are together. She is said from recent articles to want Biden to step aside and she is in favor of a mini-convention. Biden has dug in his heels and he is angry and feels betrayed and abandoned. He has put out publicly thru “sources” that he is furious with both Pelosi and with Obama. He is gonna head out and campaign this coming week he says. He is so isolated most say they cannot talk to him without Jill’s say so. He’s not listening to any calls telling him to rethink his decision. so you are Pelosi, what is your next move?
  6. https://apnews.com/article/biden-campaign-democrats-election-trump-2b1c163c863130675b3b5b60718741c8 [Pelosi is said to prefer the open/mini-convention] “On Saturday, Rep. Mark Takano, the top Democrat on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, added his name to the list of nearly three dozen Democrats in Congress who say it’s time for Biden to leave the race. The Californian called on Biden to “pass the torch,” to Harris. More lawmakers are expected to speak out in the days ahead. Donors have raised concerns.”
  7. I get what you are saying but it’s also in direct opposition to 35 Congressional Democrats asking him to step aside. Numerous calls from other big names on the Hill asking him to “think” about it. Reports of money drying up. I get what you are saying. I also added a picture to my post. Edit.
  8. This stuff gets more confusing by the day. Priscilla Alvarez has kinda a young Talisa Soto vibe, no? Photo of Talisa included. I was watching Priscilla speak and she just reminds me of Talisa.
  9. I don’t know how to explain that if accurate. I will say over the last two months there have been a few polls on the 24/7 news channels. This is one such poll (they all say roughly the same thing): The CBS News/YouGov poll found that a majority of registered voters overall (62 percent) would favor the government starting "a new national program to deport all undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. illegally." Thirty-eight percent said they would oppose it. The survey polled 1,615 registered voters between June 5 and 7, and had a margin of error of 3.8 points. Notably, the poll found that mass deportation was popular with Hispanics, with 53 percent saying they would favor such a program and 47 percent saying they would oppose it. White people were more supportive of mass deportations, with 67 percent saying they would back the program, and 33 percent saying they would oppose it. Among Black people, it was 47 percent in favor and 53 percent opposed. https://www.newsweek.com/majority-hispanics-favor-mass-deportation-1913510#:~:text=Notably%2C the poll found that, saying they would oppose it. Not sure why that number among Hispanics has gone up the last couple of years but there is data that says it has. That’s just one poll but if you scour the internet you can find more of the same. That poll has a small sample size so it’s not a definitive referendum on Jack shit but that sentiment is there. And it has grown over the past few years.
  10. My understanding is we learn more about a lot of stuff on Monday. In all fairness, I just think he doesn’t want people to know how much he weighs so…that’s maybe the issue. I sincerely hope the hearing on Monday helps to clear up some stuff.
  11. Perfect post. The older I get the more precious I realize life is. In 2 1/2 years I’ve had three funerals of family. Thank you for posting that.
  12. Mushrooms make you sad I guess? I’m cool with my caramels and gummies. I have voted every election since 18. I have never voted straight ticket. It’s our time damnit! Lol. I really do think that we should moving forward (assuming there is a future) have early conventions and mini-primaries to decide our candidates. It might be awkward at first. But I think it will get more people to vote if they could see the process at a convention and not just rah rah rah shit. Gives you more skin in the game and groups would have to bargain out in the open. we are at 35 Democratic members of Congress now. It’s not a blue wave…more of a leaky faucet that floods the house. I think though Monday will be end game. Unless he signals he will be dropping out tomorrow night.
  13. It’s a chance for a rebrand. People Pete’s age/Gretchen’s age. JD Vance pick (his age) also a factor in why he was selected. Parties need to go young or younger 35-60. A chance to cut some of the chaff off both parties. This age group I feel a lot more hopeful about than 60-80. I just feel like it’s time. Time for the next generation to speak and share their ideas. Not be beholden to the Boomers. The elders of the society. The ones that were that age in the 70’s and 80’s. We need this badly. I’m not suggesting throwing Pelosi and Schumer away I’m just saying it is time for others to have more power. More say. Let’s try new things and try them a different way.
  14. Or Trump could screw it all up by somehow violating the Logan Act.
  15. Not disagreeing with you. Some conspiracy folks have thought he’s been like this for a year or more and that’s why he’s been hidden. And much of the press was saying it’s all bullshit until the debate. In their eyes, everyone knew and it was this vast conspiracy. It’s bullshit to me but his debate performance and everything after gave their thoughts new life. Which is dumb. But they believe this shit.
  16. The thing is if that happens Repubs will make Dems do it. I don’t know how many Dems in House and senate bc it’s like an impeachment. But Repubs can abstain. Or vote no. They aren’t going hard in the paint right now bc they want to face Biden. I’ve heard the pundits. Repubs don’t want to be tagged as the ones who took Biden away and off the ticket. Now will they absolutely launch investigations on Biden’s health and records and who knew what when later? You bet your ass. His debate performance gave every conspiracy theorist on the right validation that it could be true. Repubs will make Dems do it. Think about the restraint. Normally they’d be screaming at the hill for him to be removed.
  17. On paper yes. Behind the scenes of the inner circle stuff was being hidden about whatever is going on with Biden. But yes, in sales they call it low hanging fruit. Imagine a sell that you Tommy Boy up like that. To be fair it genuinely appears as that most Dems on the Hill had no clue it was this bad. The good days bad days thing. They didn’t know. Until the debate. I know it feels like this ⬇️ now but the Dems will pull together. Unite. Unless Biden steps aside as nominee but refuses to go down and runs as an independent out of spite. but yes, right now it does appear like this:
  18. No? Maybe? None of us can know what’s going on in the inner circle. I’m sure it has been mentioned in private conversations with people trying to persuade him to step down. But how many of those people are getting thru now? He’s mad. Feels betrayed and abandoned and his top people are like “don’t watch the news. No one does anymore.” Maybe they are doing the press clippings thing with him (cue Mike Leach) and only showing him positive stuff. His legacy will be destroyed. That’s putting it mildly. And Jill while a favorite before will be side-eyed at any political event afterwards. I don’t think either have thought about that. Jmo.
  19. There is no throw up 🤮 🤢 emoji reaction but Matt and Kimberly…. Absolutely horror film stuff. This is why people shouldn’t mess with their faces. But the ugly on the inside always comes out. Kim was at least pretty before the ghastly sort of Elvira meets Disney cartoon villainess. I have expected her to turn into a dragon like Maleficent and eat some of the people in the crowd. The only safe ones would be the MSNBC anchors bc they weren’t actually present.
  20. Is anyone going to start a candidate “coaching” thread? Or is that taboo? I am not bc I have zero cache here but I think it might be more fun than the doom loop. If Biden steps aside and Kamala is passed over in favor of a mini-convention and she is not the nominee I think a ticket of Whitmer/Shapiro (whatever order) would be the one most feared by Repubs. Or Shapiro/Buttigieg. But that’s assuming a lot of things obviously. I think bc of Roe v Wade a woman should be on the ticket—it is nearly impossible to debate that issue against a woman optics wise no matter what people’s personal beliefs are. All or this is assuming any of the people on that potential ticket will run. That Biden will step aside. That Kamala won’t get anointed or won’t outlast her mini-field of competitors. It also doesn’t take into account how the backbone/black base of the part will react to having Biden removed (it’s clear if he steps aside it wasn’t by choice to all of us) and also taking away Kamala. That is a problem. I can’t see him being the nominee. No matter what his camp and he are saying. Behind the scenes I am sure excruciating pressure is being brought to bear to make sure he steps aside quickly. They tried the carrot. Then the carrot and the stick. He hasn’t budged. Now it’s baseball bats and blow torches. it’s just 34 members of Congress now. Wait until Monday morning. I know everyone on this forum thinks this will be the last real election if Trump wins (I don’t) but if there is another election in 4 years I would welcome earlier conventions two weeks apart with the incumbent side going last. And there would be this mini-blitz primary and those top candidates get the vote at the convention. And hit the ground running. I would love to see that happen. In the future. If there is a future. We would be able to see a lot of candidates that simply can’t run bc of a money issue. We would feel quite frankly better about the choices. And we could really focus on the policies and the issues. The issues and the platforms and visions for the future. More than we do the lesser of two evils which many times most of us have felt has been the case.
  21. Pancreatic cancer is a bitch. RIP Sheila.
