  1. This honestly sounds like very similar in format to the Midwest redneck bbqs my buddies and I throw. The main difference is ours have a lot more venison, and weird pickled shit.
  2. St Paul's gonna be rowdy tomorrow.
  3. And it was a fine road treat. It just didn’t come close IMO to the kind of thing I fucking need when I’m in the vicinity. The way Whataburger once was, or boudin is.
  4. The only Allsups burrito I've had was from in Tucumcari at about 5 in the morning. Maybe it had just been sitting too long, but I thought it was just "good". Was expecting something on par with, say, boudin based on the way it's discussed here. I liked it, but the bar was set so high it had little chance but to disappoint. Wondered if there was some kind of recipe difference (as some chains are wont to do).
  5. Is there a difference between an Allsups burrito in Texas and an Allsups burrito in New Mexico?
  6. This was in Minneapolis heading there.
  7. My wife flies a lot for work and has TSA precheck, I fly about 2-3 times a year at max and don't. We went to NOLA back in January and I smoked her through the check in line.
  8. Did your kid moving there give you a soft spot?
  9. There's no way in hell the guy in that mug shot is Justin Blackmon, former OSU WR.
  10. I'm rooting for Winnipeg and Minnesota. I have a lot of family in/from Manitoba, and they just fucking bleed for that team. But they'll shit the bed cause that's what they do in the playoffs. Lots of friends are Wild fans. I came of age during that period where the was no team in Minnesota, so I became a default Chicago fan. I kinda tried to get into the Wild when they started, and they had that great run in 2003, but it just never stuck. I do generally like to see them do well, and usually root for Minneapolis based pro sports. The Wild just aren't as good as Vegas, and Minnesota pro sports choke on apple sauce. Of the actual contenders, I'd be cool with Ovi getting another Cup. I'd like to see Auston Matthews get one too, but the Leafs flaming out is never not funny.
  11. Must be good enough to keep it going. My guess is with it's cost structure it doesn't need much. I throw it on in the background if nothing else is on.
  12. Back in the day, no visit to Texas was complete without Whataburger. Today? Not so much.
  13. Coloring Easter eggs with great grandma
  14. I don't remember voting for him. Sounds like a rigged election to me.
  15. I don't hunt much, but I absolutely get it. Something about the process of obtaining your own food feels right to me. I don't get big game hunting at all. Killing an animal just to kill it is weird AF to me. Killing an animal to consume it is the circle of life.
  16. Inspired by Larry’s dementia hallucinations apparently
  17. Yuengling's not supposed to be viewed like a craft beer. It's a macro lager that's better than other macro lagers. That's it.
  18. God, what a mess. On the ladder of success. Take one step and you miss the whole first rung. I guess what I'll miss the most will be the mornings. The squeak of the hardwood floor as you start out your day. I thought it better not to talk about the letter that you sent. It was no one else's business. It was barely even mine.
  19. Any thoughts on the album? I'm not getting sick of this at all, and feels it holds up to their best work. I liked Cat In The Rain a lot, but this is better. It might be better song-for-song than A Long Ways From Your Heart. "Be Here" and "What Was Advertised" feel like the most honest rehab/sobriety songs I've ever heard (with the latter being absolute classic Turnpike, sonically). "Leaving Town" absolutely hits me in the feels, and good lord, can you hear Simonett's writing on it. "On The Red River" and "Heaven Passing Through" are beautiful arrangements, with the same kind of incredibly detailed and specific lyrics that make Felker one of the best songwriters on the planet. "Ruby Ann" and "Nothing You Can Do" are both up tempo, rollicking numbers from other members of the band. RC and Nixie can both write some catchy tunes. A lot of people bag on Shooter's production, and I think it was somewhat warranted with how muted Nix's fiddle could be on Cat, but it really pops back in the mix here on Price of Admission. It's not as front and center as it was in the old days, but overall the sound is warm and rich to my ears. I'd imagine this is going to be my top album of 2025.
  20. We balked. But not because of that. We’ll be planting next Sunday for sure. That’ll really chap the big guy’s ass.
  21. Gonna plant some soybeans tomorrow. Fuck off, winter.
  22. It’s biking season in the Driftless. We are so back!
  23. This is excellent. It feels like a more weary, worn version of their self titled album. "Leaving Town", "What Was Advertised", and "On the Red River" are early favorites. Really though, I like every song so far. The people who didn't like "A Cat in the Rain" will likely be satisfied. "Leaving Town" is a co-write with Dave Simonett and holy shit you can hear his sense of melody in the verse.
  24. Creighton's a better job than Aggy. Omaha > College Station. No football to compete with for resources. Wealthy alumni that are invested in program. Averaging like 17-19K in a beautiful newish arena. Imagine Nebraska football fans with a ton of money and love of hoops.
