Bit of a late reply here, but I'd write it, and let me explain why:
On principle, what happened to him is a simply intolerable attack on every American's tentative hold on "freedom" despite how much I might despise his personal politics and behavior.
As much as I totally get the desire for retribution as a visceral response to what the Trump admin has done/is doing, refusing to stand up for the rights of people you dislike doesn't make you a hero, quite the opposite in fact. The reality is, despite this guy's seemingly incredibly annoying behavior, his rights are your rights and the entire nefarious purpose behind Culture War Politics™ is to divide the population along these clear ideological lines in the sand and convince us that staying behind your line no matter what is more important than standing up for the rights of someone that's on the other side of it.
This isn't just conjecture, we've already seen plenty of examples of this on this very message board, including this discussion right here and the people who were openly celebrating pro-Palestinian activists getting black bagged by the feds for constitutionally protected speech.
