  1. @Captainant attacked it from a different angle but also correct
  2. Yeah, so what I mean by that is that the current conflict is largely driven by American money and weapons. The average American (or Westerner in general) knows dick all about what is going on, the history behind it, and our role in perpetuating it, which is the main reason why the conflict persists as it does. Without our complete capitulation and unlimited money, Israel could not afford to do what it's doing, straight up. There would still be conflict, but it would be very, very different. And that's only speaking of America, there are a number of Western nations that are complicit in the same or similar ways. Germany, ironically enough, is also a major enabler of Israel's bad behavior, for obvious reasons.
  3. No not at all, I completely agree with you there.
  4. Like, I'm sorry for being a dick about it, I really do like you as a poster, but this kind of shit just can't be tolerated anymore. It is baby-brained, orientalist bullshit that is completely ahistorical and oversimplifies thousands of years of history into a take that is just plain wrong. I'm not saying that instances of violence and persecution haven't happened throughout history, but takes like the one you just put out there ignore the vast majority of history between Arab and Jewish populations that is mostly marked with long periods of peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and cultural exchange. The current conflict is in no way representative of the overwhelming majority of history and was 100% driven by the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism in the 20th century.
  5. This is an incredibly stupid post, none of this is real and you should be embarrassed to post some racist ass garbage like this. Please, think before you fucking post. I know you're not a racist person based on your body of work on this board, but this is trash. You need to go the fuck back to school if this is what you believe. e: Western brains being wired this way from decades of agitprop is literally the #1 reason this conflict exists as it does today. Be better.
  6. What do you want me to say, man? You're just monologuing. I'm not saying any of what you're saying is wrong but...how do you expect me to respond? It's like you want me to acknowledge something but won't come out and say what it is.
  7. The "first stage" of this plan is almost exactly the same as the plan agreed to in January. Like, basically verbatim.
  8. And with basically no promise for any meaningful withdrawal and no mention of West Bank settlements. It's a piece of shit deal that will amount to nothing and the killing will just resume as planned.
  9. I'm sorry but were you born last week? You'd have a much easier time listing off the things Israel has done post Oct 7 that haven't been completely insane than the opposite. They have broken literally every single ceasefire to date, and assuming this one won't be any different is the logical position to take.
  10. My ultimate suspicioun is that Israel uses this peace deal to get back the remaining hostages and just immediately resumes bombardment and conquest. I hope I am wrong. Considering there seems to be no movement on anything with regard to the West Bank, I suspect I am not.
  11. You realize these two situations are vastly different and completely incomparable right?
  12. Israel and Hamas sign ceasefire and hostage deal | Reuters As I said in the other thread, I'm more than a little bit skeptical that Israel will actually adhere to these terms. They've violated every single ceasefire to date. If they do, that's great, and hopefully Hamas does what it has agreed to as well. It's a decent first step, but not nearly enough. I suspect, as do most experts, that Israel will not cede control of most of Gaza, ever, as it should. This deal should require a full settler withdrawal from the West Bank as well, but that will likely never happen.
  13. I am more than a little bit skeptical that Israel will actually follow any of these terms. They've broken every peace deal and ceasefire to date. I hope they do, though.
  14. IDF withdraws 50 feet and says "well, we did our part"
  15. How many times I gotta tell y'all to never trust Armenians???
  16. They should fire his ass for cause anyway and deal with whatever blowback. Tar and feather his ass on the way out of town. He should be excoriated nonstop by everyone at that school and in sports media. He's basically ruined a bunch of kids' prospects at earning power for god knows how long and probably fucked up a bunch of their potential careers, aside from any potential standouts (if any) that will get looks from other programs. What he's done is far beyond cringe, it's practically criminal. Soft landing my fucking ass, he should be blacklisted from every program and/or media outlet for all time.
  17. I can't express how much I will not be watching either of those games
  18. Surprised ICE didn't track your ass down on your way back from Florida
  19. Rationality is relative and entirely dependent on context. An action that is seen as crazy and/or awful by most of us is still rational to the person that took the action if they arrived at that point via a line of reasoning, even if that reasoning is deeply flawed/incorrect. My point was that John Hinckley arrived at the conclusion that he must shoot and kill Ronald Reagan irrationally because his mind was completely disconnected from reality and he was unable to follow a line of reasoning to any conclusion. Until it's proven otherwise, and it's very unlikely that it will, it seems that Tyler Robinson likely arrived at the conclusion that he must shoot and kill Charlie Kirk rationally, even though his line of reasoning is, of course, wrong and bad. There are plenty of examples of this kind of phenomenon out there, and it extends beyond the individual. Look at how countries like Iran or North Korea behave in certain instances. To outsiders, some of the things they do seem completely out of pocket, but from their perspective what they are doing is completely rational.
  20. You're both trying to ascribe a rational motive and describe the shooter as profoundly mentally ill. You simply cannot have both. John Hinckley was suffering from so many different severe mental illnesses at the time of his crime that his ability to exist in every day reality was completely gone. His motive was entirely irrelevant other than the fact that it was sensationalized by the media because it involved the President and Jodie Foster. He is also probably the biggest success story of mental health treatment in history. I'm not saying Tyler Robinson isn't suffering from some kind of mental illness, he likely was radicalized in some way by being part of some chronically online circles, and it is highly unlikely he could be rehabilitated enough to rejoin society. I don't think the comparison you're making is apt beyond the crimes being of similar nature.
  21. He's a real testament to the short attention span of Americans. Dude being outed as a white supremacist during Trump's first term was a big news story for a couple weeks and then everyone just forgot immediately.
  22. He's already turned down several multi-million dollar offers, including Notre Dame twice. I think Tech realizes how vital he is and will cough up whatever it takes to keep him. Might be the best GM in the country.
