  1. South Carolina had some dudes last year
  2. Great observation about the Josephs, you’d assume there was communication between Terry and Vance regarding Jahdae. And I mentioned this in the Matthew Golden thread on the $9.95 page, Scott Van Pelt interviewed Saban after the draft and Nick said the Golden pick was his favorite of the first round. Earlier, SVP interviewed Herbstreit, and asked him to name his favorite selection of Rd 1: Jahdae Barron.
  3. Six months from today, 10/25/25. I know I’m tuning in 🤣
  4. Good lord, this kid is fast. There’s a Hudl from his sophomore season in the link provided by Tex, and at about 1:30 a teammate intercepts a pass, and Benjamin comes from deeper in the defensive backfield and races past, hellbent to find someone to block. I’m not sure he picked the right guy to target, but gotdamn, this kid can run.
  5. It pissed me off as Mike Greenberg said not once, but twice as the ESPN coverage started, “and here’s Mel Kiper, who invented the NFL Draft!” The fuck he did.
  6. Even something as typically milquetoast as Wikipedia takes a somewhat dim view of that waste of space Mel Kiper. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Kiper_Jr And here’s some of the Bill Tobin stuff, I wish they hadn’t candied up his initial response to Mort, but the later stuff at the news conference was good.
  7. Kiper did want New Orleans to take Sanders, but The Athletic ain’t Kiper…
  8. Watching Scott Van Pelt on ESPN after their draft coverage, he separately interviewed Herbstreit and Saban. When he essentially asked each their favorite picks of Rd 1, Saban said Golden and Herbstreit said Jahdae Barron.
  9. Fast forward to late October, Bert is riding shotgun in a Lamborghini driven by Carson Beck thru the wildly illuminated streets of South Beach as the hottest women you’ve never imagined possible throw themselves at them. One girl asks another, “These guys are weird looking, who are they? The other girl replies, “I don’t know, but they must be somebody!” In the background, the radio discusses Miami’s “inexplicably bad loss to Stanford at home, as the nightmare season continues…”
  10. Yes, they went TikTok official a few days ago. Two of my favorite Longhorns.
  11. Butler did one of those early commitments to USC in the fall of 2022, decommitted in early ‘23, pledged his loyalty to Deion and Colorado in May, then backed off that commitment in December. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39078930/espn-300-athlete-aaron-butler-decommits-colorado His commitment to us kinda came out of nowhere (though the above linked article did mention Texas as a possibility). He pretty much picked us on signing day, or the night before. He signed with us without ever visiting, so that’s always a tricky one for both player and school. https://247sports.com/Player/aaron-butler-46098986/TimelineEvents/ I recall he was very active with social media and enjoyed the spotlight. This video was an example of: I have zero inside knowledge, but I suspect having such ambition, then redshirting for a year with no game action, then seeing yourself at the bottom of the depth chart can lead to a less than harmonious environment.
  12. Exactly, some of the most random screenshots imaginable
  13. @mdmost can come back and explain his rationale for Post #2 in the thread, but I also took it as a nod to The Studio.
  14. I don’t haves the twitters, did someone ever tell this kid he’s kind of a dumbass? I hope someone picks him up at the airport in a covered wagon.
  15. Thanks for the clarification. I’m not saying I agree with the take, but I can see the argument there’s so much rotation being done, it’s like having two shifts of four starters, and it’s better to have complementary skill sets/abilities among the pairs you’re using.
  16. See, Boyd’s history of silly positional takes and our subsequent shitting on those takes has me wondering if this is a joke or if Boyd is legitimately suggesting that we will want DT platoons of somewhat equal ability, like we have had recently…
  17. Great conversation/reminisces, and this isn’t a comment on recent posts, but I’m sure we are rightfully pissing off many who will see all the activity on this thread, open it and find few football updates. Is there anything from recent practices on OTF/IT/247, etc? (And if there’s a thread on the site for walks down UT Memory Lane Guadalupe Drive where we can talk about this stuff, I’d like to know about it.)
  18. It seems to be just north of 100… Adios, Gray Makin or Graham Akin or however the hell you say it.
  19. It’s a very brief comment included in this posting of Burton’s story by BO&W yesterday on the Football board, simply: Aaron Butler has been a non-factor
  20. I was about to say, he was always at the bus stops 🤣 Sorry, how about that Arch Manning? Looks like we got a player!
  21. Back when @TheAuditor and I were in school, there was an old dude (really old, older than we are now) in school who looked just like Santa Claus. Even had a red t-shirt.
  22. You’d assume Aaron Butler is halfway out the door after Bobby Burton called him out the other day, something Burton rarely does.
  23. I think it actually may have been $4 an hour 🤣. Add on the Student Services Fees bundle for tickets to all sporting events (aka blanket tax) for a couple hundred bucks, plus a few other assorted fees and I probably didn’t’t even get to $500. Sound about right, @cafe society? Out of staters had to add a cool $1,000 to the price tag, but it was still an incredible deal. We had a guy on my hall at Moore-Hill from College Park, Maryland. It was actually cheaper for him to pay the tuition, fees, out of state $1,000 add on AND room and board than had he lived at home and attended the University of Maryland.
  24. Shit, I’m so old (graduated early 80’s) I don’t think ‘testing out” was even a thing, but like CTJ, I didn’t have any guidance or money to do anything about it had I known. There was some orientation fee we had to pay to attend that little introduction and they allowed you to fill out paperwork to see if you qualified for a poor person refund. They actually said on the form (paraphrasing), “No one ever gets this money back, so don’t expect it. But you can try, dumbfuck!” I got the money back, maybe even a sympathetic call 🤣.
