Bought a whole new bedroom set after remodeling our Master. My wife (no pics) is not high-maintenance at all. We’ve been in our place almost 3 years. Got the whole house the way we want it, gradually, within budget and at our leisure. The Master is the last room to see attention, so I am more than amenable to making the bedroom into what she envisioned.

Painted the walls a few months back, put in some shelves. One closet got redone last year. Little fixes here and there.

This weekend, went and bought new bed. New mattress (fucking awesome mattress).  New sheets to match the new colors in the room. New Duvet on order (yes, I am comfortable with my masculinity and still know what a Duvet is).

Yesterday. Everything is assembled. Put together. Reconfigurated. Cleaned. Dusted. Just the way we want. Got myself some nice fresh firm pillows to go with my new bed, mattress, sheets, etc. Gonna sleep like a mofo (we all know that mofos are well-known for their sleeping).

This morn, I ask, “How did you sleep?”

”Eh...I could use a new pillow. I think mine is wearing out.”

What chaps my ass in this?  We have thought of nothing for the past four days about bedrooms and bedroom accessories, and she waits until now to remember that she might need a new pillow.

So...the sucker that I am. I go to the store today, buy her the pillow she normally likes. As usual, I buy 2 so she has a backup. I get home. I go to put the extra pillow in her closet...and there’s already one there...from the last time I bought 2.

Her response, “Well I don’t look up!”

Currently trying to figure out who’s the bigger idiot.

    TL:DR — Just kill yourself now...you can’t win.

Never, NEVER try to pick out a wife's pillow.   The time before last I bought new pillows for myself, she said to get her 2.  I asked her what kind she wanted, "oh just get me the same kind you get."

Got home with the new pillows, and the next morning all I heard was about how horrible the pillows were, too hard etc. etc. why did you get those.  Fast forward to last week, I replaced my pillows and again she asked me to get her 2.   I just said OK, did my thing and came home.  "Where are my pillows? Why didn't you get my pillows?"   I simply looked at her and asked, do you remember what happened last time?  You need to get your own pillows.....TONE.

    1. Log into your old Shaggy account.

    2. Write Shaggy Rocko a rep message, which only he can see.

    3. Let Surly Rocko post a screenshot of said Shaggy rep message here.

Not very accurate, aggy would be more excited and cooperative, sheep would be fearful.  You know, kind of like Rapelor, except with sheep instead of coeds.

The post about Ace Frehley getting shocked onstage prompted this thread.

UFO- bass player (Pete Way) fell off the stage during one of their songs. They're jamming along, then all of a sudden KARWONNNGGGG and a low rumbling feedback. Roadies helped him climb back onstage, and the show continued.

David Lee Roth- someone almost pegged him with a beer bottle. The band played the entire song while Roth went off on a rant, then showed off his kung fu skills with the mic stand.

Nazareth- see above. No kung fu mic stand twirling this time, just an unintelligible rant all the way through the song.

David Allen Coe- Three band festival in Midland with Billy Joe Shaver and Willie Nelson. This was right after the OJ Simpson trial. The beer company mispelled his name on the banner (spelled it COLE). He was livid. So instead of the whole band, Coe came out with just a fiddle and bass player. They were all dressed up in black leather longcoats and looked more like Motorhead than a country band. They played three songs, then DAC stomped off the stage. He then comes back onstage and yells GUILTY! into the microphone. Weird shit.

Nazareth played San Antonio so many times in the late 70's I lost count of how many times I saw them, as they were usually opening for someone.
The last time I saw them the lead singer had some sort of leg injury and had a cast on his lower leg to the best of my memory.  They couldn't have been more than 2 songs into the set when he and the guitarist got into an argument and all hell broke loose.  Everyone beating the hell out each other, and needless to say they did not finish their set.  If I'm not mistaken they broke up shortly after that.  All in all it was quite comical, never seen that before.

Think about temperature profile in the summer - and when can you start swimming in the spring (asumbing you arent fucking rich or own your own natural gas supply for heating).  We cant usually swim without paying to heat it until mid May, and it gets too warm (without cooling intervention) by late July.  We have a 6.5 foot deep end.  Also, how do you drain a pool that is all the same depth?   Real deep end pools will take longer to warm up in spring - probably resist overheating though.

I added "sprinklers" to my returns and we are sure to run them all night (or even during the day) and tolerate evaporation for a cooler pool.

Truth, did the same thing and it makes a hell of a difference.

True story: I was audited for my first year of grad school because I had a significant reduction in reported income...

I just provided documentation that I was in school and it was over but getting a certified letter had by but puckered.

edit to add, that they didn't audit me for a couple of years after I had already graduated.  I may never know what triggered the review as it's not like I made a lot of money before school...

Never use IRS furnished envelopes to send in returns.  Some are encoded to "randomly" trigger audits.

  9. Pretty much burned out on the series a few years back, although I still watch an episode here and there.  I don't know whether it's me, or the series, but most of the time it just doesn't hold my attention and I don't eagerly await new episodes like I did in the past.

  10. There have been quite a few folks comment that he wouldn't last long after her passing.

I know I've told my wife kiddingly (?) that I wanted to out live her to make sure she was always taken care of, but not to drag her feet when she passed because I would be right behind her.  It has been a blessed life and marriage and cannot imagine life without her.

Can't remember what episode it was, but it was a special on Pete Maravich was on the "SEC Storied" program.  Sheesh what a hell of a life that guy lived.

One part detailed how he and a friend were shooting free throws.  His friend made 12 in a row, after which Maravich made 178 straight.  His friend still claims Pete missed on purpose on 179 so they could go home.
