  1. That’s so freaking stupid. Get a damn pick and give the new GM something to work with. Idiot.
  2. It's just weird because he had two years left on his deal. It's one thing if he "retires" for a year, but it just seems odd that the Mavs would let him walk like that and not demand some type of compensation from the next team.
  3. So if Rick lands a job here in the next few weeks, do we get a pick from that team since he had two years left on his deal? Seems like we should.
  4. Basically all Mavs podcasts are saying Kidd has no shot. This also seems pretty dumb to speculate right now when they don't even have a GM.
  5. Also confirmed by Stein. Glad Mark has level-headed people around him. Him running this whole process by himself scares the shit out of me.
  6. I think KP is staying and hopefully the new regime can find a way to get the most out of him. He still averaged 20 per game and had a 20 PER. Like MacMahon also said in the podcast, the Clips were probably the worst possible matchup for him. If they had played the Blazers, for example, it's likely he has a pretty good series and we're not all desperate to run him out of town. I just don't think they have a choice because you cannot sell him this low right now.
  7. It’s obvious that there has been very real tension and dysfunction in the front office so the past 20 years are kind of irrelevant. They simply have not improved the roster around a top 5 player and, if you believe MacMahon, had an ass hole coach who rubbed that player the wrong way. It’s okay to say you were a fan of Carlisle but that he also needed to go. Anyone is going to pick Luka over Carlisle 10 times out of 10.
  8. pretty good episode with MacMahon that was recorded before Carlisle left. Definitely sheds some light on the Carlisle-Luka dynamic and how it was fairly rocky.
  9. Follow-up article on the Athletic from Cato: https://theathletic.com/2657406/2021/06/17/mavericks-gm-donnie-nelson-got-fired-after-stalemate-with-mark-cuban-whats-next-for-dallas-and-luka-doncic/
  10. If this is true, Voulgaris needs to be gone as well. Why the hell would you have an analytics guy contacting team about potential trades? How can Cuban allow this bs to happen? Geez.
  11. I don't know the answer to your question, but there's a distinct possibility that this search is all for show and they just land on Finley. I'm not opposed to Finley at all, but it would be nice to see if there are any other good candidates.
  12. If we’re going to go with a former player, I would just assume give Finley a shot.
  13. I will also say it's a shame the new guy is going to come in with very limited draft capital. I would have liked someone who actually values the draft more, but they won't get a chance to make a pick until next summer.
  14. Are you being dense on purpose? They made the conference finals twice in 5 years and won the whole thing when they had a top 3 player in the league. That's not even close to Portland.
  15. It looks to me like he's been at the helm ever since they got good. They made the playoffs every year he was GM except last season. Made the 2nd round 5 years in a row including a trip to at least the conference finals twice. We would all kill for a 5 year stretch like that. Even if Kawhi was the one to get them over the top, he would have Luka here.
  16. Ticket brought up an idea I hadn't thought about: Carlisle to the front office?
  17. Shit moving quick: Doesn't sound like Bob will be the guy.
  18. Why do you think that? Just curious.
  19. This was my first thought as well.
  20. I don't think ousting him is going to fix it. You still have the three-headed monster at the top who have the best job security in the league.
  21. The sources in this article have to be coming from someone in Donnie's camp, right? I don't think the timing of this is coincidental.
