Yesterday reminded me why I stopped attending the festival 10 years ago. Just way too many people to be enjoyable.

Kingfish Ingram- fun set, good to see some blues in the acl lineup
Shaed- the singer had a great voice and the songs were catchy. Not normally into this style of pop but they were good.
Alanis- she sounded great and everyone sang along to every song.
Tove Lo- she had a band so points for that. Thought it was fine.
Foo Fighters- they were the foo fighters.

I'd never been to an Alanis show before and wasn't expecting a whole lot, so it was a nice surprise that she sounded great- fun show.

This is my 19th year to attend, and your timeline of ~10 years ago certainly feels similar as far as the overcrowding goes- or maybe that's when I just got too old 😉. The last few years I've been doing VIP and it has made it a much easier experience overall. After FF last night I hung back and hit the bar for a couple more drinks while the crowd cleared out, and even then it was still quite a mob scene exiting a while after the shows had ended. The weather this year has been a great bonus. I'm heading back soon for day 3- good times.

  2. The only terrible sound mix I heard today was the 1st song during Shooks, which was plenty bad. It was heartwarming to see Charlie taking pics & video of his kid during the performance. Also awesome to connect with @texasdago.

I'll post my broader thoughts later but I'm heading down to get there nice and early to catch some of the game and listen to @jimmyjazz's investment in drumming.  If @KaiserSoze is there, he should recognize me. I just have longer hair than I had in high school lol

I'll plan to hit the Tito's tent a bit before the show starts.

  4. Good shows yesterday- love having nicer weather for a change. We went to Devon Gilfillian, The National Parks, Thee Sacred Souls, Brother Thunder, Portugal The Man... then listened to some of Bass Drum of Death before heading over to the Dave Grhol interview. After that we went to The Revivalists and Lumineers.

    All of them were good.

I'll probably be on the rail for their show or close.  I'll have to fist bump you and tell you I'm from the Intertubes

I plan to be there for that show was well, but will be hanging toward the back most likely.

Yeah was thinking of hitting up the Shiny ribs show.  I did Fareground, Guero's and Saxon.  We should catch up sometime for a drink.  Been a while...

Nicel. I saw Fareground had shows pretty much all day- I used to work super close so that would've been convenient.

I'm up for beers, maybe combined with a HH show somewhere- will DM you soon.

Who went to HAAM yesterday?  Managed to catch six bands throughout the day.  I love me some free music and catching bands at Fareground is a very underrated spot.

I hit ABGB for their HAAM Day showcase- Primo the Alien, Shinyribs, and Bidi Bidi Banda... then bar hopped South Lamar a bit during the walk home (Black Sheep, Corner Bar, Gibson, Barton Springs Saloon). Fun night.

Only saw him in concert once. September 21, 1996 at Southpark Meadows. Went and saw Texas and Notre Dame at DKR during the day and Buffett that night.

I was at both of those events that day as well- hell of a fun Saturday. I went to a handful more of his shows over the next 10 years- always a great time.

  9. I watched all of it this week unexpectedly. I say unexpectedly because the trailer didn't really grab me but I decided to watch 1 episode and move on if not interested after that. Damn, this was much better than I expected based on the trailer- nice surprise.

If Deloss Dodds was running the B12 like a dictator, why did it take a decade plus to try to get consistency out of taunting penalties?

Holy shit- you people are still crying about horns down? JFC

Seeing Son Volt Thursday at Scoot Inn. Looking forward to it, as they're playing Trace front to back and that's one of my all time favorite albums.

I’ll be there as well. Anders Parker (opener) is worth catching also.

I'll be there too- looking forward to it.

  12. I recently watched Deadwood for the first time (finished it last week)- enjoyed the hell out of it. I didn't really know what to expect of it so my expectations weren't high, what a great surprise. Thinking about starting Treme next (haven't seen that one either).
