  1. Yes, that's one example, but it still passed did it not?
  2. Sorry, I wish there was a difference, but if there is, it's small. If you notice, things have been trending in a particular direction, and that trend has only, if anything, just slowed a bit during the (admittedly brief) recent periods when the Ds have had control of one or more houses of Congress. Obama did nothing end our imperial wars in the Middle East, for ex. There may well be individual Ds that have principles and speak out against tax cuts for the rich and increased defense spending, but other Ds vote for those things and they still happen. If you think the Ds aren't the GOP lite now, you aren't paying attention. Hillary is about as conservative as Nixon, again, if you leave aside social issues. Funny pictures don't change that.
  3. Yeah. I was just hoping, I guess.
  4. This is the thing. Trump is a goddamn embarrassment, but the two parties mostly differentiate themselves by where they stand on a few hot button social issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc.). They vote mostly the same on the big issues because that's what they're paid to do.
  5. It's worth noting that none of the top three teams (or TCU) has played TTU to this point.
  6. I guess: Trump killed himself with KFC in the arteries.
  7. Isle of Hogs?
  8. As homophobic as most conservatives are, it's kinda funny that most of their go-to threats and insults involve explicit references to penises and/or anal penetration, like those are the first things that pop into their heads.
  9. I fully expect Rick Perry to talk to a plant.

  12. https://twitter.com/JHoyNBA/status/981337245348134912 "Texas Tech freshman guard Zhaire Smith will declare for the 2018 NBA draft, according to a source. He will not sign with an agent at this time. Smith averaged 11.3 points and 5 rebounds per game and impressed scouts with his athleticism and high-level defense."
  13. In just about every other college stadium I've ever visited while wearing Tech colors, I've had a drunk bro (or multiple drunk bros) yell profanity at me (or the group I was with) in a confrontational manner. That includes at OU, UT, UH, & Texas State and even in bowl games at neutral sites. At A&M aggys yelled at us but didn't use profanity, but anyway, it happens. It takes a lot of doing on both sides for that kind of situation to escalate into an actual fight.

  15. To make it work, you have good hitting, good pitching or both.
  16. Where's the neg button this thing?
  17. This may be my favorite game of the Spike Dykes era. I was a junior at Tech that year. Good times.

  19. Columbus is an absolute dump. I went there for a conference while I was grad school and was stunned at how shitty it is. Guys were selling crack in the middle of the afternoon across the street from their state capitol building. On the same trip, though, a friend of mine who went to undergrad in Ohio (at Wittenberg College) took me and some other friends up to Yellow Springs. That's a nice little college town.
  20. There have been a lot of great rock bands over the years from Ohio. Otherwise, though, it really sucks.
  21. Yeah, it's an interesting question. I tried searching a little bit to see if anyone's put together some data along these lines, but I couldn't find anything with concrete numbers, just opinions. And, of course, like anything, there are lots of different people who have a financial stake in pushing the narrative that one path to the pros is better than the other. I guess my perception is that, leaving aside transcendent talents who either skipped college or were a one-and-done (like Kobe Bryant or Kevin Durant), who were likely going to be great regardless, most of the others didn't amount to much, but that could just as well be true of guys who did two years or more of college.
  22. We can only hope, though that at best only offsets my concerns about how close together his eyes are.
