  1. So I couldn't get over one thing in the movie. It's completely inconsequential but I'm spoilering anyway
  2. It's funny you mentioned it because I tweeted last night if Touki had hit that ball out it would've been the funniest Braves homer since Belliard. My older brother LOVED Raffy and was away at college when he hit so I excited called and left him a voice mail because he wasn't home and missed it.
  3. The Cardinals manager put Jordan Hicks in down 10-2 in the 8th inning to pitch to Touki Toussaint. Touki hit the ball to the warning track. If it had gone out that would've been my favorite home run of all time.
  4. Riley is 2-2 so far tonight with a double that was 2 inches away from being a homer and an RBI single.
  5. Atlanta United took five points in its first six matches but now are third in the East after an MLS record 5th straight clean sheet win. This season has been so weird already. I was at the Orlando game Sunday it was nice to finally see them win at the Benz in person.
  6. Gattis and Heyward were the last two to homer in their debuts.
  7. Camargo is the only one who has trade value I think, but I'd prefer to keep him because of his upside and Culberson because of his versatility. They also have a really interesting situation with Ender. Ender is still a 3 WAR a year player because of his defense, but his offensive struggles have been extended into this year and as long as Donaldson is healthy the only place to play Riley is left field. That's classified as a good problem to have I suppose.
  8. Yeah no doubt. I was just using LOST as the prime example a show that fiercely divided its audience between a journey show and a destination show.
  9. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I've been thinking about the journey and the destination a lot over the past couple of days. Popular TV shows wrestle with this a lot. LOST is probably the best example I can think of in regards to this. As far as GoT is concerned the show was at its best (the first four seasons) when it did a good job balancing the journey and the destination. Season 6's journey wasn't great, but the destination (Battle of the Bastards, The Winds of Winter) were as good as the show ever was in terms if individual episodes. D&D have only been concerned with the destination this season. They decided they only wanted to do 6 episodes which is their right as the creators of the show and have been racing to get to the twist of Daenerys' descent into madness. Because they rushed through it, her heel turn didn't feel earned. It felt like they were going only for the twist there because this was a show that got so much notoriety for its twists, but it's two biggest twists were logical plot choices. Ned played the game stupidly and naively and he died. Robb played it stupidly and his whole army got wiped out. It was shocking, but it was logical based on the story progression. The word "Game" is literally in the title of the show and by and large the people who have played the game the best are the ones who have survived to the end. In the two biggest strategic moments of the season before this week Daenerys proved to be totally ineffective as a military strategist. That they just rushed to her using her cheat code (Drogon) to destroy Kings Landing went against the meticulousness the show built over the first 7 seasons and 10 years.
  10. Lets ignore the fact that Folty is really bad and get hyped because Austin Riley got the call to the show. He hit 13 home runs in his last 69 Triple A at bats.
  11. I also just realized I'm never entirely sure if it's Lena Headey or Lena Headley like this is goddamn Blazing Saddles.
  12. I'm in the camp of really disliking the abruptness of Daenerys' heel turn. The problem is that so much of what has happened this season now feels like filler. I really enjoyed the episode before The Long Night because that was the one where the writers played on all the relationships we've seen developed over the previous seven seasons and so many characters got wonderful moments in it. Ultimately, all of the important characters in that episode survived. Last week's episode was about 45-50 minutes of slow moving plot development and then like 20 minutes of action. We're looking at 1.75 episodes of a six episode season not really doing much to establish what was supposed to be the biggest twist of the final season.
  13. Aside from one moment of magic from Ronnie they were largely non-competitive in the division series last year against the Dodgers and didn't get much better this offseason so it's not surprising the Dodgers are wiping the floor with them so far in this series.
  14. I'm beginning to think we're heading to an ending where the Starks have to stop the mad queen Danaerys and Jon "wins" the throne and destroys it declaring men aren't meant to be ruled by a king. It's all the time he spent with the wildlings.
  15. Atlanta United just had their best performance of the season beating KC 3-0. Unfortunately they lose Barco for seven games because of the U20 World Cup. He's the most improved player in the league this year.
  16. I want literally anyone but Daenerys to sit on the iron throne when this is all done.
  17. They swept the Marlins, let's keep our pants on.
  18. Leeds shits the bed against a 10-man, last place Ipswich team, but West Brom lost to Derby County who needed the win to make the playoff so it's Leeds vs Derby and West Brom vs Aston Villa in the playoff semifinals. Both semifinals start on Saturday. The return leg for West Brom-Villa is Tuesday, the return leg for Derby-Leeds is Wednesday.
  19. Fourth time in the last three year Crystal Palace has officially relegated a team: 2016/17 - Hull 2017/18 - Stoke 2018/19 - Huddersfield/Cardiff
  20. Gausman got ejected for throwing behind Jose Urena. MLB is soft.
  21. Austin Riley hit a BOMB in Triple A today.
  22. This Francisco Mejia throw is absurd.
  23. As someone with no dog in the fight and just wants a dramatic second leg Ajax winning 1-0 on the road is probably the best possible result today so that's good
  24. I fear it's going to take a player dying for soccer to do anything about it.
  25. I'm in favor of having independent doctors on the sidelines to evaluate head injuries and if a player is deemed unable to return due to a head injury the team gets a free substitution.
