  1. Between Croatia and Serbia Yugoslavia might be the favorites in the tournament if it was still a thing.
  2. FIFA gave it to them without having to bid on it because 2022 is going to be in the Winter and coincide with Football season which means fewer matches on big Fox.
  3. So the networks that broadcast these tournaments just take the feeds from the host broadcaster in the country where the tournament happens and in every single one the camera men are pervy as hell. During Euro 2012 we kept a running clip reel of the...talent the camera men were seeking out because we had access to all the feeds. It was good times.
  4. they lose today, Iceland beats Nigeria tomorrow and Iceland and Croatia collude to play to a draw on the final match day to eliminate Argentina in the group stage.
  5. www.twitter.com ok, so to be less of a dick
  6. This is why I think Portugal has a shot no matter who they play. Both Peru and Morocco were great box-to-box in this tournament, but lacked the finishing class that was needed to advance in this tournament. Ronaldo is a cheat code. I don't even think Portugal is that good, but it's not like anybody has been lights out in this tournament except for Belgium who played one of the worst teams in the tournament. It's been a lot of defensive soccer and a lot of one goal games and that gives the team with the best finisher a fighting chance in any game.
  7. Man they really suck if they can't qualify in a 48 team world cup.
  8. Peru is good, but finishing was obviously an issue. A Morocco-Peru game would be an insanely fun 0-0 draw.
  9. France sitting back, content to let Peru control the game seems like a weird strategy. France should've be on the front foot way more.
  10. Really glad that Mark Geiger, who is a disaster officiating MLS games, got to officiate this game.
  11. England is the Texas A&M of international soccer.
  12. He said they're making Tunisia look like Costa Rica as if Tunisia is significantly better than Costa Rica when they're pretty much even.
  13. Tunisia is two spots ahead of Costa Rica in the FIFA rankings and 9 spots behind Costa Rica in the ELO rankings.
  14. You grew up in London and owe much of your soccer skill to playing with the English. Your father is of English descent. Look around our country, are you happy with how we are treating the English? Open your mind, stand for something & remember where you came from.
  15. The United States beat them 4-0 in the second to last qualifying game.
  16. De Bruyne isn't white. De Bruyne is clear.
  17. The interesting thing is that winning that group may not be the best path. Right now it looks like the winner of that group is going to get Brazil or Germany in the quarterfinal whereas when the group started it looked like the winner would get Brazil and the runner up Germany. Winning this group may not end up being ideal.
  18. I got into an argument years ago on Shaggy because I said KdB was the best player in the Bundesliga his last year there and feel super vindicated rn
  19. The keyboard solo in Jump is my shit.
  20. Who is this Michael Bradley?
  21. Panama sucks and it's total bullshit they're here. I look forward to Belgium massively underachieving here today.
  22. Right. 538 has a predictive model and picking the favorites to win each match, here are the odds they gave Spain and Portugal of beating the best possible opponents in each round Spain Uruguay - 70 France - 57 Brazil - 44 Portugal Uruguay - 58 France - 45 (LOL) Brazil - 34 Anyway, I think the Germany-Mexico result was great for Spain. It's going to be hard for Germany to win their group now and I think Spain's problems against Portugal were correctable mental mistakes they should improve upon going forward. 538 actually has them as the most likely team to win the World Cup now even though they'd be an underdog head to head with Brazil because Brazil is now on track to play Germany in the Round of 16.
  23. I'm not saying this is a likely outcome, but this possible HALF of the knockout stage bracket has gone from "no fucking way" to "wait, this could happen?" I think Spain still ends up winning Group B and have no idea what's going to happen with Argentina but it's going to be hard for Germany to win their group now.
