  1. Yep, and they are there to get paid. They'll call things that have worked fine bad because it doesn't meet today's code. Doesn't mean it doesn't work just fine the way it's installed, it's just not the best option given today's choices.
  2. There is no way you should have a hole in your breaker box not called out as a huge red flag by the inspector, that's crazy. Backstabbing is fine, that's electrician silliness there. But the wrong gauge wire on the other hand lol, that's how houses burn down.
  3. I need to know if there are more or how long the damn cord is NOW!
  4. I started to go that route of reusing and rebuilding, but even in a decent house they had just taken too much abuse over the years. So we started completely over. Cutting these checks is painful
  5. My wife has used our tub, but even she realizes there are 2 others in the house if she really wants to use one. I even told her we could upgrade one of them in one of the bathrooms once our oldest goes to college in the fall if she's dead set on a tub for soaking. Dual head showers are God's gifts to suburban life and I will not tolerate not having one any longer than I have to!
  6. strong to quite strong sir haha
  7. I'm also a huge believer in if I'm going to do something, do it as soon as feasibly possible because that's one more day of enjoyment to spread that cost over.
  8. I've talked to high end remodelers and mid range, and a number of realtors about it. It makes zero difference. Most people prefer the updated bathroom, and most tubs go completely unused. Especially in houses with 2+ other bathrooms with tubs. But very few people will look at a nice shower and go "I have to have a tub, I'm out". Though that number isn't zero.
  9. apostrophe's ar'e free' In all seriousness, correcting grammar, especially an apostrophe from someone typing 100+ words a minute, on a message board takes a special type of grammar nazi. Enjoy I guess?
  10. My grandma kicked all kinds of ass before she passed. Spoke 7 languages, was 4'8 and made fun of her height constantly, she was hilarious, was Russian but born in china, her dad was a Russian spy before leaving in the revolution to China. She was a freaking riot, could tell a great story and had tons of them. Even then I'm not sure I'd drive 4 hours both ways for a lunch at Denny's unless I knew it was the last time...
  11. Was going to say the same. This and Curb ball. Stand on one curb with your buddy on the other. Hit the curb and get the bounce back was 1 point, hit it where the street and curb both hit at the same time at it was 2. Being poor had it's moments lol
  12. So you can see the shower and I'm standing in the tub. About to do the same in a year or so once my bank account recovers from the kitchen remodel we're finishing up. Ripping out the tub and putting a double sided shower in there, then putting in a linen cabinet where the shower is too. I'm going to build the cabinet first so it's done and can be put straight in before we rip it all out. Sadly I'm going to have to put in flooring before I rip those out so having to be careful with how we do that so it's easy to fix later. But I have a whiskey shelf/cabinet and a master closet drawer system to build first. When we moved in I rebuilt the entire master closet (it's above in this thread) save for the ikea drawer system I already had on my side because it worked. But since I have to replace the floor in there anyway I'm going to do it right this time. Whiskey cabinet comes first since I already bought the walnut for it. Once those are done the only thing left to do in the house is replace the carpet in the upstairs bedroom. This house is already pretty unrecognizable from when we moved in. Will be completely different when all of that is done. Now I have to live here forever though haha
  13. That's the before on the bathroom. Before we moved in though, I'd never let it look cluttered like that
  14. Need to do some fit and finish on the doors and drawers, but turned out pretty great. And yes, need to paint under the cabinet on the wall.
  15. Our sons were friends since 2nd grade and we became friends over the years. Eventually I got divorced from my ex, and his wife introduced me to her sister. Now they are my in laws
  16. Yeah, met her new boyfriend over the weekend. Nice guy, felt bad because he's not going to know until it's too late for him and it's not my place to tell him. Maybe he'll be cool with being managed and being dictated too. I never was.
  17. I went through all of mine a few weeks back. About once every few years I do that. All the extras that come with new devices etc. I know Apple got sued for it by a few countries, but it's dumb that ever device needs to come with a new cable and box. Terrible for the environment and a complete waste as usually they are shitty versions anyway. This year is when the YRGB, the old DVD player, the old lightning, anything under Cat6 and some random USB sticks got tossed. I easily tossed 2/3rds of it. Trying to standardize purchases on USB C but there are still a ton of needs for micro and occasionally mini. It's really annoying that companies still use those, specifically anything cheap from China.
  18. My ex is a CTO. She's not technical at all, but can typically BS her way through it and this is how she has gotten to where she is. I mean good for her I guess, but her trying to bring that manipulation home is 95% the reason we're divorced now.
  19. I'm just glad he's getting some sun on those balls
  20. I'm not a nitpicker on stuff like that. It's been really iffy. Including missing a ball right at him on an easy play from SS to 2B. Again, he'll be fine, but just striking to see it
  21. EVs kick ass and are a lot of fun. What they aren't is an environmental win over gas engines. It's honestly not close and pretty hilarious to watch people just side step the facts. At one point people truly believed they were carbon neutral day 1. Most things now even show 5-6 years of normal use to pay back the difference. Unfortunately that's not very accurate if we go back to how batteries are made and the environmental impact of it some studies show 10-12 years and basically right about then when batteries might start going bad and you're back on the hamster wheel. I truly enjoy the absurdity of driving an EV but battery tech will have to completely change as will how that tech is charged for them to ever replace gas.
  22. I'm going to need Altuve to get some more ground ball practice going. He's been super iffy on almost every play his way. I know it's early and it will be fine, but it's standing out
  23. oh yeah, this is why I rarely watch spring training...
  24. Both of my brother in laws are this man. They have their faults, but they deserve sainthood for dealing with my sister and sister in law. I have no idea how they do it. Both of them are very similiar, and have a "it will be what it will be attitude" and are super aloof. Both are intelligent and capable, but both also don't do shit around the house when it needs to be done. They just use all of their energy not exploding on the crazy they deal with day to day. So apparently it's a trade off. I love both my sister and sister in law and enjoy their company, but they both don't pull that shit with me because they know I'll call them on it. Respectfully, but still call them on it. It's pretty funny watching my interaction with the two of them and my brother in laws' interactions. In 22 years I've seen my sister's husband snap on her 3 total times. And it was brutal. Luckily my sister was wise enough to take it, and move on. I've known my other brother in law for 12 years (married his wife's sister 2 years ago, they are nothing alike lol) and seen him snap once. But it was crazy. It was "do you ever shut the fuck up?" She quipped back and he lost it. SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. and walked away. 10 minutes later it was back to business as usual lol
  25. That is beautiful, and was a thought, but I'm going either Charcoal, black or midnight indigo. They will all go better than the room and still bring out what I want from the walnut
