  1. Since coming back August 1: day off Aug 2 team off day Aug 7 and 14 day off Aug 15 4 days off out of 15. So help me if we hear after the game about an overly aggressive massage
  2. That’ll play in October. (lets just hope Cam’s bat does as well) although if Yordan returns, the only way we get both Cam and Jesus in the OF at the same time is if Altuve is at 2nd so the net among those 3 may not be that significant
  3. Fucking scheduled off days! at least a chance for Altuve (41) to inch closer to Biggio (53) for most leadoff homers in Astros history (in case you were wondering, springer had 39 as an Astro but is the MLB active leader—and 2nd all-time—with 60, still 21 behind Rickey’s 81)
  4. (just hope we’re still laughing on sept 28)
  5. We broke the dodgers https://www.wsj.com/sports/baseball/los-angeles-dodgers-400-million-superteam-ohtani-9d2c1ebe?st=A67LcW&reflink=article_copyURL_share
  6. Which is crazy as I know a lot of folks here (myself included) thought very highly of Elias. but yeah, those contracts are inexcusable. (Not that we haven’t had our own share)
  7. I appreciate all that, and I know you were bat signaled to chime in, and I know you’re not asking for it, but the Astros thread is not the place for pity on injuries. that said if any team has had it as bad/worse, that’s pretty rough. Makes me appreciate more what this Astros team has done this year, 15 over instead of 11 under, cobbling together what they have. should be a fun series.
  8. You’ll really be annoyed when games return to 3 hours because of 22 replay reviews to determine if the trip of the oven mitt touched the bag before the glove grazed the last cleat. But yeah, I completely agree with you on the premise. Seems to me most teams are so ingrained with the philosophy of not doing anything that might risk stopping a big inning and haven’t fully quantified/appreciated the impact of the larger bases/limited pickoffs on the increase in success rate.
  9. Everyone knew he was going to turn in to an All Star when it was the Rays that picked him up
  10. Holy shit, your post reminded me so do I pos rep!
  11. I can’t say I remembered #2 and #3 thanks
  12. Remind me this rule? teams get picks for dudes finishing high in the Cy Young vote?
  13. Half of that came from one game against them in August 2019 when we scored something like 25 runs.
  14. Corner end zone adjacent to the school’s seating section. the ticket cost for lower level is $875 so $1,575 all in. Tickets will go for much much more if Texas is a participant. $3k-$5k would be my bet.
  15. It’s a bad call but let’s not get carried away. (but yes there is no excuse not to have ABS in the big leagues) 4” off the plate was that chick’s first pitch call on Sunday:
  16. This thing blew up since last year. I don’t remember any wait last year. I was on the site at 4pm and like 900th in line. lowers were priced at $300 before it opened and it was $570 when it was my turn at 5pm. It’s up to $700 now.
  17. I want to like him but it’s real hard to get past him looking like a little bitch earlier this year… and getting worked up because he got hit by Brown in June of last year too. Just not a good look. But yeah, he’s fun to watch outside of being a moron here
  18. Lookin good, Scraps (and man I miss Baseball Tonight and classic Sportscenter)
  19. after we won the first game by a run I posted we’d go 5-1 on this homestand with a -8 run differential. Best we can do now is 5-1 with -6.
  20. O’s walkoff back in first
  21. Gulp Not anymore in this game…
  22. Uh, 2026 if we’re lucky…. The wrong kind of shoulder stuff is career-ending
  23. 42 games to go. all square in the AL and NL West
  24. Hurry up ABS tie ballgame bottom 9, bases loaded:
