Jesus those things are expensive.  And my FIL also knows nothing about boats.  We have to tale lessons to learn how to drive the thing.

No better place to learn than in a budget, starter boat like a brand new Cobalt. Just be careful around docks and avoid shallow water. That should at least keep you afloat.

I know nothing about boats. My FIL got this rig for his lake house. Is this a ski boat? Good? Bad?

Is that a new R3 Surf? I can’t 100% tell with the cover and from the distance. Cobalt makes an excellent boat that holds it’s value, but that’s a newer line that I don’t know anyone that has been on one. I wouldn’t call the larger series of Cobalt’s ski boats really, but they are excellent boats.

This opinion may not be G650 approved.

Married guys. How many red flags are you okay with before being in a serious relationship with a woman/girl? I recently met this gorgeous girl but she is not my type. Lust is stirring me in her direction. She is only 22 but is still in community college. The red flags. She smokes weed every day. She still calls her mom "mommy". She is very insecure. She has multiple tattoos and piercings. She likes to sleep a lot. She was willing to hang out even though she had a boyfriend. But dam, she is very beautiful.

If you have to come online and ask the question, you already know the answer. That is a clear rental.

  4. Just wear a come and take it shirt and MAGA hat and you should be good to go.

i believ they have a no gun policy on resort and in the parks. If you stay off site it can remain in your vehicle while at the parks. If you stay on resort it must be checked and held at the front desk. I would just double check it when you book a room.

  5. With a full ring and half a chimney of lit charcoal, I can run mine 12 or so hours easily. Then I’ll add another half to 3/4 chimney if it needs to go longer. It was still hot at the 24 hour mark last weekend when I did an overnight cook.

i usually run my vents at about 1/4 open.

  6. If I am trailering the boat, everything gets done before getting on the ramp. Back it in, unhook the bow strap, roll it off, and my wife parks the truck. Putting it on the trailer I have to back the trailer and pull the boat around, but there is virtually never anyone on the ramps when we are coming in.  With an inboard she has never gotten the hang of controlling it and backing the trailer is a nonstarter. I’m hoping to teach my oldest because my wife is a lost cause.

Will Cain is pretty good.  He reminds me a lot of Cowherd, in that he will take bold stands that are backed by logic and hold true.  He's kind of whiney in his approach, but I get tired of the down the constant down the middle pitches.

I like Cain, I don’t care for music so for years I’ve bounced between ESPN and Stern. Cain is not afraid to take a stand and not toe the company line which I appreciate. I want to hear opinions and people going out on limbs with their views and that is not what the morning shows are.

  8. You went to a chain BBQ place and expected it to be on the level of one off BBQ places in central Texas?  The problem with most places people stop at is that they are restaraunts using a commercial grade stacked smoker just like Outback and others do their ribs in. They use sauce to make up for the lack of smoke and bark in most cases. Find the true local spots where it’s a guy at a pit and you’ll get good BBQ. It may not be up to the level of TX still, but it will be better than the chain stuff you are eating.

I’ve had plenty of ribs and pulled pork I would put on a decent level (although a lot are still missing that perfect exterior so you get the pile of gray mush swayze mentioned), but I will say even half decent brisket has been hard to find.

powder your balls and wear compression short type underwear.

It’s going to be hot and muggy for sure. We went the last week of March and the temps were in the 90’s. I’ve told my wife I’m only going between Fall break and Spring break, any other time and she is on her own.

    You want a 5k winch for a 3k boat.

Recreational boating is a 2:1 (loaded weight to capacity) load ratio in most cases so a 3k pound boat would be more than fine with a 2,500 pound winch. 3:1 isn’t that uncommon either. That is assuming you aren’t hauling it all the way up the bunks onto the trailer or steep inclines where 1:1 makes more sense.

  11. Thanks. One was a little low in the thickest part, so I’m going to let it go for a little while longer. While messing with them the internals dropped quite a bit, so I’m going to keep an eye on them and pull them in an hour or two when they get back up and then cooler them.

  12. WSM ran hot last night so butts are probing at 195 way too early. The meal is about 8 hours from now. Should I wrap and cooler and just monitor the temp? If it goes below 140 then put in oven close to time? Or would you go ahead and rest, pull, refrigerate, and reheat?

  13. Picking up my middle class toys tomorrow and hopefully dropping them off at the lake this week.

Picture from last year. This was no weight in the boat, so the wake doesn’t show up very well. Ignore my kids in the distance on the jet ski for the sake of discussion.

Also going to throw in a picture of my two and their favorite activity. Usually there are four back there riding but I don’t have a picture of that.

  14. Momofuku was solid and I highly recommend the buns and the noodle dishes. We went for a late lunch and the place was empty though. After a few days I was definitely surprised by how light all of the restaraunts crowds were. Prime, Momofuku, and several others all could have been walk ins with no reservations.

  15. Don’t know if it was mentioned earlier but one positive to the paid parking is that MGM parking transfers between all properties. If you valet/self park overnight at 1, you can do the same at any of the other properties during that time frame. It worked well for dinner/show plans as the valet lines/waits were much shorter than the taxi lines.

We have a Seadoo Wake wave runner. It’s awesome for wake skating, tubing or riding the RAD. We are on a pretty small lake - maybe 4 miles long. It’s shit for wakeboarding because it’s wide open in the ski area.

I’m on one half that size. Also works well for running back and forth from the pontoon to the house during the day and keeping the kids occupied.

In all seriousness though, I like @Brew. Just being someone born and raised and who's made a living off the water I find his maritime opinions wildly hilarious.

I also just learned he thinks money takes you out of the middle class, which is good for a chuckle.

I’ve been on boats and around boats all my life, but keep living up to that silver spoon, sailor boi, douche stereotype. I’ll keep having fun on my “middle class” toys, you keep playing on the ones your daddy paid for.

I live south of the Mason Dixon and I've been actual surfing since the 1980s. I was also a 100 ton captain, I've done more stuff with boats with engines than most people have driven cars.

Don't you have a pontoon boat too? Christ, you are practically an Applebees on the water. I'm not sure it's possible to be more middle class.

Yep, pontoon too. See prior post again, because it apparently hasn’t gotten through. I’m a long way from middle class at this point and have actually paid for the toys I have including the lake house, beach house, etc.
