I completely agree with everything you've said here. I support public assistance for higher education, the part where I disagree with some here is the idea that the policy should cover free university education for anyone who gets in to a university.

This. I may give on two year community college or trade schools, but then that may create a whole different set of issues.

The 6 lane highway is a good depiction of politics though. We need both sides of the road, but sometimes it feels like a 2 lane country road where we are barely apart and some times it’s a 10 lane superhighway where the guys in the outside lanes are nowhere close to each other.

are we sure that everyone that has ever said the N word is a racist piece of shit?  Not just referring to Hader, just in general.  Also, are white people ever allowed to quote rap lyrics?  Honestly I don't know how the younger generation feels about that.

My 8th grade racist ass loved to sing along with NWA and EazyE

Posting a tweet that says “KKK” and another one that ends with “...n***er n***er says something about your character and upbringing at 17. Does it make you a racist piece of shit if that’s the beginning and end, probably not. You’re fucking stupid and guilty of making racist statements at a minimum though.

  3. At 17 a lot of it is just for shock value I would think. However, there are a couple that he’s going to have a difficult time getting past. You also have to be incredibly stupid to have seen all the shit that has come up in the last couple of years and not think, “ I need to go delete my old tweets.”

Fuck yes that's right. The first and foremost structural political issue at play right now is the over-extension of executive branch power resulting from a totally fucking worthless and dysfunctional legislative branch.  Article 1 is Article 1 for a reason. In a system with a properly constrained executive branch, and a functional congress, Trump is contained. The Paris climate agreement, executed as a treaty cannot be unwound by executive fiat.  The Iran deal is not unwound by executive fiat. Immigration policy does not become a matter of executive order, but one of duly implemented law, policies, and procedures. Trumps trade wars are avoided when Congress actually fulfills their Art. 1 Sec. 8 responsibility. The executive branch needs to have its wings cut, and Congress needs to stop being worthless cunts. Hugo can call that asking questions or bothersiderism or whatever. I call it the reality of our fundamental problem.

Corker says the dam is breaking and Congress is going to take control back. Maybe he’ll finally remember he’s not running again and make an effort.

Those Canadian girls really got around in high school. At any given time, probably 3 times the female population of Canada are supposedly having summer flings with American high school boys.

Dammit, I already knew I missed out on quite a bit in high school dating the same person but now you tell me I missed out on the Canadians too? Can I get a do over without it being considered a felony at this point?

bad teammate has provided me with a lot of entertaining reading material over the last few pages. The screwed up part of the whole equation in American politics is the two sides we are required to choose between. Now you tell me we can’t move from one side to the other and that we’re branded with the scarlet R or D for life? It’s amazing that we have arrived at the fucked up place we currently reside in with that kind of system. Oh wait, no it’s not.

  6. Yep, got there Monday and left for Park City Wednesday. We went through Arches and Canyonlands both although we spent more time in Arches. We’re already looking at planning another trip back. For those looking for Jeep rentals, Cliffhanger was easy to work with and let us drop the Jeep off well after closing.

  7. The Harry Potter part of Universal crosses over both parks, so you will have to choose one side or buy the ticket allowing you to ride the train. If she’s big on HP, I would include the train portion which is going to cost $$$. There are only about 4-5 rides between the two sides (will have big waits early) but there is a lot of other stuff to do that will not require you to wait. There are shops in the themes of the books, performances in the streets, places to use the wand you will inevitably have to buy, etc. It’s really the best part of Universal for kids and also the strange adults walking around in full regalia.

Just wondering what part of our ~ $640B defense budget goes to personnel expenses, however you want to characterize that.  The claim has been made that a cut in defense spending hits the personnel hard . . .

At almost 38% of the budget, it would have to be impacted. Plus if we cut back on defense and on the ground troops, there would have to be a headcount reduction as well.

$139B in current year costs and an additional $103B in retirement benefits on the 2016 financial statements.

I could probably google this, but I'm overcome with laziness:  anybody know what our $ commitment is to salaries and benefits for all military personnel?  I'm gonna guess $50B but that assumes an average of $40K per year and I haven't the foggiest notion of whether that's reasonable.

Are you talking just W-2 wages or including all benefits including allowances? If everything, that is low.

  11. Latest release says he started eviction proceedings on her last July, had a court date this week, and it got extended again. Kid or no kid, how does the system allow someone to stay in your house for over a year?

Based on him hiring Ray Lewis’ attorney this morning, he may not have ordered it but he likely knows what’s going on.

Yeah, there is a reason people usually go there in the spring or fall.

Advantage me, there was virtually no one on the trails today, no wait at the restaraunts, etc. AC in the Jeep blew cold so it worked out fine. It was actually nice up until lunch so we hiked several of the Arches trails first thing this morning and then rode trails all afternoon.

  13. Holy shit it’s hot. Moab in July was not well thought out. The sun goes down in an hour or so and it’s still over 100. Oh well, got a Jeep lined up tomorrow so we’ll see what we can find and post pictures. That is assuming we don’t melt first.

  14. Who knows what happened right before the first video where the ref was on the ground and got up, but he should have walked off when he got back up. He was the one that kept jumping back in and instigating it before it really got carried away. That team is going to get railroaded for something that could have ended right then. I’m not defending them either just for the record. The adult/ref should have been an adult/ref.

Sure, some interactions are just interactions but he quoted a situation that CLEARLY was about race/ethnicity what have you. I’d guess a ton of interactions happen all the time throughout the country where people are just assholes to each other or there are misunderstandings and shit happens and we never hear about them. No one is going to call him a racist for complaining about 4am music, that shit happens a shitload. And to post it in a thread where innocent people are getting called cops on them only bc of their skin color comes off as whining.

You and I may not, but his neighbor may. The point is it has brought it back into the thought process just as ORC stated in the post right above yours.

No it doesn’t, but does make you a bit of a idoit for posting it here. Go post that in the “my neighbors play music too damn late” thread. Because late night shitty music is not at all mentioned in the link or article (that I saw, could be wrong though). It’s pretty clear that the fact it WAS playing at all on the 4th is why it made an appearance on this thread. Or were you just trolling and didn’t understand that?

You’re an idiot if you don’t see his point. Some of these interactions are just interactions between people, color not withstanding. However, now race is being brought into more interactions whether it’s the base of the issue or not. If he says something to his neighbors, is it going to be viewed through the prism of race or just you suck as a neighbor?

  17. The people on the different sides of this have been interesting. One of my largest agriculture clients just came out nationally against the tariffs. This family has been devout R’s for as long as I can remember but they are putting significant money behind the D’s this year. On the flip side, my largest client is in the steel business and they have become Trump's biggest supporters. The effect on the back pocket dictates loyalty in these large entities.

  18. Any opinions on DL places to stay between the Courtyard at the entrance, the new Residence Inn across the street, the Homewood, or just getting a house a few blocks away? The hotel prices are pushing me to a house, but my wife wants the convenient location of one of those three hotels. It seems to me that getting a house and walking to the Disney parking lot and riding the tram would be just as simple.

We’re going to stay in the Hollywood Hills 4 days and do Universal also while on that side of town. I’m about theme parked out. You guys that go regularly have my respect/condolences.

I agree with you, but somehow many of the President’s followers have gotten the idea that fighting words are protected speech or that the first amendment gives assholes the privilege of not ever getting their asses kicked. Neither of those things are true.

Hmmmmm, I wonder where they could possibly be getting that idea from?
