  1. Boca Jrs must be playing all scrubs.
  2. Inter Miami played a Brazilian club in Miami (the capital of Latin America) in front of 60K fans and Seattle Sounders played the Champions League champions PSG in front of 50K at home, both very respectable numbers. Then you had a half-empty stadium and one at less than 25% capacity.
  3. Surly headquarters for the Kentucky game?
  4. Was running late and had heaps of luggage (to sound Australian), but I stopped by the Wimbledon grounds yesterday to check out their Museum & Gift Shop. (The qualifying is taking place across the street, or close by, so that the courts don’t get destroyed.) Old People will recognize this doll. Emma Raducanu’s US Open trophy. 🏆 Women’s undergarments over the years. Everyone had a pair of this in my class in the 7th - 9th grade window (maybe stretched into 10th grade). Trophies In 2022, they apparently dumped the whole “Miss” part of the name and welcomed in a run of Slavs. Djokovic’s run was stopped by Álcaraz. Maybe clearer here. The runs of Bjorg, McEnroe, and Becker with others sprinkled in. Different angle. Various keychains for £10 each in the shop. These tiny branded luggage tag & wallet/card holders on the top row were priced: £45 / £69 / £49 Parting shots… Less than a week away.
  5. Source: Forest agree deal for Juventus' Weah, Mbangula Matteo Moretto Jun 23, 2025, 09:24 PM Nottingham Forest have set their sights on Juventusplayers Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula to strengthen their squad this summer, a source has told ESPN. A source tells ESPN that the English club have already reached an agreement with Juventus for both players for a total of around €22 million, but the move won't be finalized until they agree to personal terms with the two young players. The source adds that Nottingham are trying to get approval from United States international Weah, 25, and Belgium's Mbangula, 21, in order to reach an agreement on personal terms, including salary and length of contract. In addition to the potential signing of Weah and Mbangula, the source adds that Forest are also pursuing a center forward in the summer window. The two players are currently in the U.S. playing with Juventus at the Club World Cup. Igor Tudor's side faces Manchester City in their last group match and are already assured of a spot in the round of 16. Weah's participation in the Club World Cup ruled him out of contention to feature for the U.S. at the Gold Cup this summer. The Americans beat Haiti 2-1 on Sunday night to win their group and set up a quarterfinal match against Costa Rica on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minnesota. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/45570393/forest-agree-deal-juventus-weah-mbangula Normally I prefer our players to stay away from the EPL, but Weah is strong, fast, and has good size. I think that he will do fine if he ever figures out his position.
  6. BUBLIK! My boy is on a roll! He claimed at the French Open that tennis is absolutely NOT his number 1 priority. He puts time spent with his family at #1 and tennis is his job. His ranking dropped a bit, so he’s had to play more tournaments to bring his ranking back up and make up for lower prize money. So he’s been playing a bit more and put together this run this week. He’s a threat, though Best of 5 may wear him down. 7. 1) Looks to be about 25,000. I was thinking 10,000 to 15,000 would show up. 2) You’re white?
  8. The buildup to the USA vs Costa Rica match is absolutely palpable! 😴 The USA v Haiti game summary called it “a sparse crowd”. What is your estimate on the attendance? Attendance numbers (even fake ones that state Tickets Sold rather that Passed Through Turnstiles) have not been posted at the bottom of the Game Summary page. …which is not ESPN’s m.o., as you can see from the Club World Cup details.
  9. Seen on the magazine rack for sports at the Nuremberg (Nürnberg) 🇩🇪 train station about 4 hours ago…
  10. Haven’t been following closely, so googled “Quinn Clemson” and have to agree that losing her hurts.
  11. Bublik is one of my favorite male players (even though he is Russian, has horrible tats, and dresses like a homeless man in most tournaments), and he is having quite a summer. Bublik was the first player other than Carlos Álcaraz to beat Sinner in over a year, or so when he toppled Jannick in the quarterfinals to set up an all Russian Final Four. Zverev (Russian born & raised in Germany) lost to Medvedev (Russian living in Monte Carlo), who now faces Bublik (Russian playing for Kazakhstan and “based” in Monte Carlo… I think) who beat Russian Karen Khachanov in 3 tight sets in a tournament (Halle?) in Germany. Bublik’s skill set & unpredictability are a perfect match for grass, especially if he is serving well.
  12. Just saw this…
  13. Ewe[sic] should of[sic] payed[sic] atenshun[sic] in skool[sic].
  14. Must have put up his dancin’ shoes if that’s the case.
  15. BBC says that FIFA may have eh-splainin’ to do. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c8rpxjgr8mjo
  16. Saudi Arabians are going to love the winter temperatures this Thursday.
  17. The Facebook page of Argentina’s sports channel TyC Sports (Torneos & Campeones) is pointing out that the stadium isn’t quite full for the Chelsea vs LAFC match… midday in Atlanta. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/12LuRCUEVY3/ Not everyone understands that it’s a dome, so the temperature during the day in the summer is really not that important. They do understand that it is a pitiful turnout though
  18. I had to look up what “DAZN” stood for/meant. I guess that I will not be watching this tournament. 🤷‍♂️ EDIT: The match is also on TBS, so why not.
  19. The split title is the best. A&M splitting the men’s title with USC meant that USC only got 95 point for a national championship. So Aggie does get a national championship, but in doing so, they gave Texas the Director’s Cup. I do enjoy that. 😁
  20. But besides the obvious. Are there any other reasons?
  21. On T2 (Tennis Channel 2), the round table was talking to a guy named JIM LOEHR about sports psychology and overcoming normal brain activity to excel in sports. While he was talking about the importance of journaling and writing out your goals, not once, but repeatedly… Mirra Andreeva was going down in flames in the 3rd set against Frech. He mentioned that Jannick Sinner has one of the most abnormal brains that he’s ever seen. Andreeva may have slipped on the grass and fallen on her ass (though she won the point) around this time. She was so over this match and this court and was apparently ready to lose her serve to go down 0-5 and head to her bench for the changeover Loehr then starts talking about simple things like standing up straight with your shoulders back can induce secretion of “testosterone, which cuts through cortisol like a knife”. Soon after, Frech wraps up the match on her serve after sandwiching a break point between her two match points. The contrast of his words about a positive mindset vs Andreeva acting out all of the “Don’t do this!” list of things on screen was quite something. I didn’t see/hear the entire segment, but it was an interesting topic. It seems to be mainly for parents raising children for tennis and then later in life. “Helping them become a better, stronger human being.” -Jim Loehr He has written many books. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=jim+loehr+books&crid=1F3GLZOYXZ6SW&sprefix=jim+loehr%2Caps%2C89&ref=nb_sb_ss_p13n-pd-dpltr-ranker_2_9
