  1. C-SPAN covered an impromptu press conference on the steps of the Capitol. Gaetz et al seem to really believe that they can win support for Jordan. Delusional.
  2. Can any of the GOP fools that are voting for Jordan not understand that strong arm, death threat, bullying M.O. is what he would bring to the table as Speaker were he elected? I'm disappointed but not surprised at my go along to get along Rep voting for this asshole.

  8. JPow indicated they likely stay the course (no hikes) in November and wait for more info before deciding what to do in Dec. Their data has shown signs that long term inflation is reacting to the rate hikes they have done so far, but other data shows there is more work to do. Also, jPow says commercial real estate doesn't affect the TBTF banks, so that industry can be a sacrificial lamb to the inflation targeting altar. Oh - he also said that Tbill yields are beyond the Fed's control - the market is reacting to fiscal policy (federal spending/deficits).

  10. Circa 2010 I happened to be in Saudi Arabia doing some project management consulting work for a refinery just as the Arab Spring started blooming. Tanks were rolling about 30 minutes down the highway to the bridge to Bahrain and everyone was on edge. I was on the road at 4am every morning to get to the refinery and the road had police checkpoints that were always an adventure to go through (always different people working them - some rather bigoted against Americans). One morning, at 4am, I'm the only soul around at the checkpoint and one of the policemen there started rambling at me in Arabic (of which I understood absolutely nothing). I gave him a blank stare and he came around to the passenger side of the car, opened the door and got in the car, He motioned for me to start driving. I started driving and the dude just kind of relaxes in the passenger seat perking up occasionally to direct me when to turn left or right. I had no fucking idea what the fuck was happening. Eventually we get to another police checkpoint and he gets out of the car and thanks me for the ride and waves me off to head back. Motherfucker!

I did a search for "Pierre Poilievre reporter fake" and found this: https://www.bizpacreview.com/2023/10/18/conservative-party-leader-in-canada-casually-shreds-reporter-comparing-him-to-trump-while-munching-on-an-apple-in-fire-clip-1405279/ https://www.castanet.net/news/Oliver-Osoyoos/451775/Pierre-Poilievre-was-in-town-Wednesday-capping-the-visit-off-with-a-rally-in-Oliver
  16. There is a Korean reality show on Netflix called Physical 100 that contained a challenge where 2 contestants entered an arena which contained a ball (looked somewhat like a basketball). The contestant that was holding the ball when the timer ran out (something like 2 or 3 minutes) won the round. It was fun to see how different contestants approached the challenge. Some ran for the ball and tried to evade their opponent the whole time. Some said fuck it, let's fight until there is only 10 seconds left on the clock and then try to get the ball. I really enjoyed it.

  18. I did not know who he was before seeing the video this morning as I don't pay attention to Canadian politics. I thought the exchange where he questions the reporter was funny. Apparently he might be Canada's next Prime Minister. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canadas-trudeau-far-behind-polls-remains-liberals-best-chance-2023-10-11/
  19. Binance is one of the largest exchanges in the world - outside of the USA. Binance operations in the USA have been under the regulatory gun so long, I'm honestly surprised that anyone might still be doing business with them.
