I think Ukraine should hit it with one random drone just so they can add an aircraft carrier to their list of Russian navy vessels destroyed
Thet should fly a consumer one armed with a party popper. Land, release the "pay load".

Did you know the word 'gullible" is not in the dictionary?
Assistant Head Coach? And Director of Player Development? Shit, rubes....
8 hours ago, TrashMaster G said:Dial it back there, skippy. Folks WANT to believe it because it would be epicly dumb and fun to watch. And the fact is that it IS believable, because it's just the kind of stupid-ass thing that aggy would do.
This right here @TrashMaster G. Why you mother fuckers gotta shit on our fun hopes and dreams?
Johnny 8ball is trying to worm his way into the program ala our own Butter Tooth since neither have current full-time employment.
While the example is hyperbolic, some sort of "Fan Experience Captain" or "Player Life Coach" dumbass alignment is absolutely in the realm of reality. And getting popped for a DUI while transporting a hooker and blow between CS and Houston has a pretty decent chance of occurring. I mean, she will be an "influencer/model", but same same.

He plows a coed and it’s gets to the media. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely would if I was in his situation, the media will eat him alive and the university will try to talk everyone into a legitimate relationship.
Imma go a different path.
He gets popped for DUI between Austin/Houston and CS. Hooker and coke also found in car.

Started this last night. I'll keep watching but the Jussie Smollett's backstory seems completely irrelevant and dumb. Yeah, I get that she got sent down to arson investigation because she broke it off with her lover/boss. Yawn (RIP Rocko).
It started off being interesting but I agree with Smollett's story being pretty meh and frankly the twist was extremely telegraphed. I guess I'll watch it cause Milk Jug really interests me and is very well acted, but the rest of the story is pretty damn lame.

Ep 8 of Stick is probably my favorite. Olyphant is a great heel. It is annoying how short the episodes are, I really wish I had held off and just binged the whole thing in a couple of sittings.
I said it up thread up been waiting on Raylan to appear. God damn that man is good looking and yes he's a fantastic heel. Of course, can't have an episode without Santi going full Santi but it propelled the plot forward so.. whatever. Maybe the season finally will be Santi's balls finally dropping.

I think, for some, it will watch better as a binge
But I do laugh when I see people get "mad" that they're waiting weekly for a 20-22 minute episode.
Like.... same as pre-streaming, with commercials? Back when we watched new episodes each week of The Office or 30 Rock?
Well, that and I think some miss that its a sit-com. As in situational comedy, episodic in nature. Yes, sitcoms have a plot, but its season long and while a driver for the season not the core focus of a sitcom. Community and Parks and Recreation, for example, always had a season long theme/plot, but was episodic in it's weekly content. Exposition, climax, resolution while moving the season plot along some, but not always in 20 minutes. For example, the season 5 plot of Community was "Save Greendale" but not every episode had to move that plot forward.

I liked this series. It somehow hit the nerd-core, mindless stupidity, subversively silly, and low-key dark aspects of my humor simultaneously. That's a rare feat.
Plus, it's got a bit of heart.
This is a really good summary. I'd add that I really appreciate when "sit-com" is take no prisoners on what silly ideas or tropes they will mock particularly when they are even handed about it. A reason I love South Park.

Loved the series. Ending closed really strong with a cool "message". Really happy there is a season 2. Look forward to more Murderbot shenanigans.

I think conspiracy theorists have always been around: Social media just gives them a louder voice and more visibility. It also gives them validation as like people flock to their site.
But I always thought that conspiracy nuts were nuts on a single subject like aliens or moon travel. Is it really the same people who think microchips were in the Covid vaccine? Not that it would surprise me, but I guess I don’t even come across many kooks in my readings. Well, that is except for Surly kooks.
Social media, it's algorithms, group think and circle jerks have absolutely lead to increased conspiracy theory folks. It gives them validation into their thoughts, however illogical, and "verification" of the insanity. Flat earth was something I'd never even heard of until a couple of years ago.
To be clear, it's not just conspiracy theorist. You see it in other extremes as well. Identity politics and celebrity worship are two other areas that have been recent growth areas but political "teaming" has only grown in it's extremes as well.
Getting back to the subject at hand, having extreme conspiracy theory on one side of covid, and extreme fear mongering on the other ultimately lead to divide that could potentially plague all should such a pandemic ever occur again, as the divide between is greater and a cohesive response far less likely.

Disclosure and requests for prospect volunteers
I wanted to provide some quick disclosures, why and some requests for those willing to volunteer.
1) I am going to create an internal, private file share between @TexasEd and @InkaUtexas The file will be to organize volunteers and resources. It will only be internal between the 3 of us. In full disclosure I wanted to make people aware.
2) There maybe be some small group emails, but any such communication will be fully BCC accept where specific members of the group have clearly requested otherwise.
3) If you're wanting to volunteer to help us best align resources to need please PM me, @InkaUtexas and @TexasEd Include the following information when known:
-Name you prefer us to use for communication (Surly handle is fine)
-Email address and phone (it will stay internal or BCC only as noted in disclosures above) no concerns if you generate a random Gmail or use Google voice or similar tools as long as you check them.
-Assistance you are able to provide
-Broad time frames you are available
-Any resources you're willing/able to provide in efforts

Quoting you in this thread. See above.
@West Kerr Horn We'll get people ready when you need people to come in and clean up.
Following up on time frames.
Typically, urgent help is most needed post recovery aspects which are occurring now. For quick clarification, recovery is the hardest psychologically as it includes dealing with death and usually it leaves the survivors mentally worn out.
Post recover is clean up/restoration. This is when houses will be cleaned up and repaired when possible. Trash is removed and where possible folks try to move back or start preparing for rebuilding. This time frame varies but is generally it is about 7-14 after recovery efforts have ended. In order to best organize. It's the primary focus of our efforts as it's when the flood victims tend to get the least help, and sadly need it the most.
We want to start now as organization efforts take time. First, we need an assessment of where help is needed. By that I mean actual locations, homes, apartments and a general assessment of what help is needed.
This aspect allows for effective and efficient deployment of resources which include man power and goods. You don't want to send people driving out with nothing to do, going where help is not needed, or worse missing people that need help or not bringing proper resources.
Hence, why we are trying to organize now.
Currently the most important aspect is contacts in the region to start the needs assessment.
Second is an effort to begin collecting cleaning goods and ppe.
To that end a lockable trailer, location to stow said trailer and someone with a vehicle capable of dispatch is an important aspect.
Those that can't go out and spend time in field can help with finding a trailer, finding a location for the trailer, receiving cleaning materials, organizing materials, finding people to donate materials.
Current needs in order of priority:
1) Contacts within the effected area that can provide input on need areas
2) Someone to engage with those contacts for preliminary assessments. (I will be helping here)
3) A list of people willing to volunteer time and tools they have available. (The team will start putting these together from volunteers found in this thread and elsewhere) These are Seal Team Surly volunteers.
4) Field assessment @InkaUtexas will be leading those efforts
5) Allocation of known resources to known specific locations of need post assessment. I will work with @TexasEd and @InkaUtexas to assist in this effort.
6) A lockable trailer than can be used for a while or someone willing to fund a Uhaul cost for a couple of weeks.
7) A location to stow trailer and someone with a vehicle that can dispatch/tow trailer to need location(s)
😎 Volunteers to organize/receive donations at trailer (Surly Volunteers)
9) cleaning supply donations for trailer (Surly Volunteers)

Is it a grift? Does anyone pay him for his poorly-written fan fiction?
He's producing content pretty regularly. It might be a back burner long con grift, but its absolutely a grift. I don't have the stomach to dive deeply into aggie hive mind and dig around to determine his click through and repost ratios. I just know a play when I see one. It's too much in alignment with aggie. It may well be a chat gbt long con he runs for quick turn content, but he understands what the hive mind needs and wants.

Seriously... that's what's being sold. Well. The last sentence is me... but.. that's what's implied if nobody else is on them.

It was a trick question. Russians have been shits since Moscow was founded. Everything they're doing to Ukraine they've done to themselves and each of their neighbors for 300 years. It's a feature, not a glitch.
Minor fix.
I have never been to Russia so my experience is based on Russian Nationals or immigrants I've met through my life and in my travels. In HS a couple of my friends immigrated with their mother. I never got the full details of their youth, not even sure they knew their whole story but their outlook would mirror a lot of other Russians I ended up meeting. That long ass preface to say, while you might find hope in parts and pieces there always seemed to be an underlying bleakness to everyone of them I knew with depth. It wasn't out front in their personality but the more you go to know them the more it tended to surface. A sort of a "fuck it" rebel without a cause sort of view. That's the only thing I can add to mindset and I fully acknowledge its certainly not an in depth or vastly knowledgeable one.

Boom. Nailed it.
Well, one is Spanish, one is Murican. One has "more" Penelope, and doesn't have the Murican' stupid splainin' going on. I know which of the 3, including Open Your Eyes, I like most, but I'm gonna shut my keystrokes and stop completely derailing this thread.
