  1. First 2 episodes air tomorrow night. 10 total episodes releasing weekly on Tuesdays through the final week of April. I'll probably wait until April to dive in. Doesn't seem like the kind of show I will want to take a week off between each episode.
  2. I'm enjoying my Dad's new hobby of building deer stands for me and my brother's deer lease from scrap lumber he salvages from construction sites in his neighborhood (with the builder's permission). Just told us on Saturday that he has been gathering scraps to start building us a 2nd stand later this Spring. Haven't been back out to the lease since New Years, so need to figure out a random weekend in March to head out to go do some work on the camp house and scout locations for this new stand.
  3. The surviving members of Power Trip just announced they're getting back together, and the singer from Fugitive will be their new frontman. Power Trip is back, baby! Here's some fun footage from a surprise reunion they did at a Fugitive show in Austin back in December.
  4. I knew Teare growing up back in Beaumont. He was classmates with my older brother before he moved to Houston for high school. Crazy to think that a guy who used to spent the night at my childhood home will likely be the DA of the biggest city in Texas.
  5. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVDA, has risen about 5 spots on the Bloomberg Top 100 List in the past 24 hours. Net worth has gone up nearly $10B since he got out of bed this morning.
  6. Blowout. 265% increase in revenue YOY. Stock up 8% after hours to nearly $730.
  7. Love the lineup this year. I'm a Bobcat. Wife is an LSU die-hard. Good chunk of my friends are UT guys. Got the weekend passes and will for sure be attending LSU vs. UT on Friday night and TXST vs. LSU on Sunday afternoon.
  8. Pit Room's 2nd location out in Memorial City is almost ready. They just posted yesterday that they're hiring staff for an expected March opening.
  9. Seeing very early signs of price improvements. I keep an eye on Boyd's seafood market down in Texas City since they post prices just about every day. They have sacks for $5.55/lb today, which is still crazy high, but that's down from $6.99/lb just a week ago.
  10. Yeah, aside from about 60 hours during the January freeze, I'm struggling to remember many genuinely "cold" days that required much more than a light jacket or pullover here in Houston.
  11. JP re-tooled his batting stance.
  12. Welp, this will throw a wrench in Comer's "investigation"
  13. Watched the first episode of Killer Paradox last night. Will definitely stick with it. Korean crime drama that just came out last weekend. About a timid college kid that "accidentally" kills a guy and the detective assigned to investigate. 100% on RT and user scores are very good too. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/a_killer_paradox/s01
  14. "Real shame about the diagnosis, Earl." "Yep, it's a real kick in the ass. Ya' know, I think I'm gonna go hunt the suicide stand this evening. If I'm not back at the camp after sundown, please come retrieve my corpse before the hogs catch wind."
  15. Lol. Old buddy of mine makes a living as a real estate agent for people buying and selling ranches. Posted this pic today from a property he was visiting with a buyer. Easily the most dangerous hunting stand I've ever seen. Said it's about 40 feet of ladder to climb with those tiny little pegs. Enter through the floor, and then there's just a swivel seat up there.
  16. Just noticed that on the extended forecast. Cold and dreary Friday and Saturday, then cool and sunny for a few days, but after that, it looks like Winter all but vanishes. Supposed to hit 80 next Wednesday and Thursday. And then finish out the month with a bunch of mostly dry days in the mid 70's. I don't necessarily mind Spring starting a little early, but Summer better mind its fucking business and stay in its lane until Memorial Day.
  17. I think this is a bit of a stretch based on a hot January CPI report. CPI spiked last January too. Several wonks pointed out that a lot of the overshoot came from an unexpected blip in OER, which doesn't seem to match up with other data concerning rents. Now, if February and March numbers don't get back on track, "no rate cuts in 2024" might be more reasonable, but let's take a breather for a second.
  18. Oh here we go: JV says his shoulder is acting up heading into training camp. Says he's a couple weeks behind his usual routine of ramping-up for the season.
  19. Grabbed some of this to go with some al pastor street tacos last weekend. Pretty tasty, and not overly spicy. Pairs well with breakfast tacos too.
  20. Well that was quick. Space City Bagels soft-opened this morning, less than a week after Brazos shuttered. I may pop in on the way to work Friday morning and give it a shot.
  21. Saw that as a result of the Endeavor sale, Autry Stephens is expected to leapfrog Hildebrand and Harold Hamm to become the wealthiest oilman in America (going by the latest Forbes net worth figures), and he will now be in the Top 75 or so richest people on the planet. Unfortunately for him, he's 86 and recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, so his reign may not last long.
  22. Due to the horrendous drought last year, followed up by the big freeze in January, crawfish supplies are scarce and prices nauseatingly expensive. Seeing upwards of $15/lb at the few restaurants and bars that are even serving currently, and $8/lb or more for live crawfish if you can even find them. If I called my guy that drives a big refrigerated truck over from Louisiana on weekends and asked for a price quote right now, I'd probably hear raucous laughter. I usually wait until late March or early April for prices to drop enough to grab a few sacks for a boil, but am usually willing to grab a couple lbs cooked to snack on somewhere for Mardi Gras. Don't reckon I'll be doing either this year. Have to imagine it will be damn near Summer until prices get closer to where they usually are in the Spring.
