  1. If Laguna Madre passed the test for a second visit you might want to try Bill Miller’s for BBQ. I know they have a location on Broadway across from Incarnate Word a couple miles north of where you are focusing. Not sure if there are others.
  2. I don’t do much brunch, but I do hit Thousand Oaks Cafe on Austin Highway every Saturday for breakfast and cannot recommend it highly enough. Of the various Pearl spots I would rank 1) Ladino 2) Mon Chou Chou and 3) Best Quality Daughter as my top three. The pizza place at the food court is also quite good.
  3. I really want to love the Hayden. I go there often enough. Love the vibe and what they are trying to do. But the menu is completely hit or miss depending on what you order. Most dishes with chicken are downright bad and the pastrami gravy is gross. Other sandwiches, burgers and entrees are pretty good. Fish n chips are good. Apps and cocktails are solid. i had the pot roast tonight and while i usually don’t like tomato based sauces on pot roast this was decent and the crispy Brussels sprouts were an excellent accompaniment.
  4. I stand corrected.
  5. He is going to try to send one to the moon when any poke will do. But I am here for it. You be you Rylan.
  6. I was referencing the dick-bump at home plate.
  7. Have we discussed the unique way these Sooners are celebrating home runs?
  8. Beating Mississippi State is in his blood
  9. From the outside you can’t understand it. From the inside you can’t explain it
  10. I said at the time that if we got the punt off and tackled the returner, the game was won. We weren't going 3 and out and they couldn't move it fast enough. Even on their one sustained drive in the second half it was dink and dunk 4 yards at a time.
  11. I echo Mon Chou Chou. I would also recommend Ladino (mediterranean) and Best Quality Daughter (asian), on the level with Cured and well ahead of places like Southerleigh, Supper, and La Gloria. The pizza spot in the food hall is good, and the new burger place in there looks solid, although I haven't been. Bakery Lorraine for breakfast is great. If you want to range beyond the Pearl proper, I would avoid Carriqui or Down on Grayson. Josephine St. is fine if you aren't looking for anything fancy. But my recommendation would be to walk south on the river to Tres Trattoria for a decent Italian spot. It's a shame Allora shut down because that place was fantastic.
  12. It’s all about perspective. I look at this not as an improvement on fries, but as an improvement on the loaded baked potato.
  13. Went to get myself a blizzard last Thursday at the one on Jackson Keller in SA only to find that it has closed. That’s the only one reasonably close to my house. I sometimes hit the Blanco and Johnson City locations on my way through those towns. I doubt those are going anywhere due to lack of competition. I definitely didn’t need that blizzard so maybe it’s a good thing.
  14. I think all this goes away as soon as we blow someone out, and if we win out with a bunch of close ones, it all becomes moot. And if we lose, they can look and point and tell us how soft we are.
