  1. Literally the first thing I learned when I got to college in Maine 30 years ago. Thermals will allow you to function in cold weather without being miserable.
  2. Here’s the thing though: he also has some jaw dropping emotionally tuned in dialogue. The conversation about grief in Wind River is just gut wrenching, but has actually helped me get over loss in my life.
  3. Democrats rn
  4. Yuck. Let's all just take a moment and reset with our queen:
  5. RARE EARTHS AREN'T RARE.
  6. I mean, who doesn't enjoy some good old fashioned deflation? Inflation was Biden, fuck that. Let's get a 90s Japanese style economy going, amirite?!
  7. So the Canadians are fucking 3-0 on us now?
  8. I can't decide which is worse: The Nazis in charge, or the limp dick dip shits that are the current opposition. I mean, its the former, but the entire Democratic party is just pathetic rn.
  9. Extremely accurate metaphor is extremely accurate.
  10. The guy is a fucking horse.
  11. Slow down there, Eh? Let's not do anything stupid.
  12. As noted investor Warren Buffett said: “Buy the dip, pussy” So I’m liquid, but I might lose my nerve and just buy a bond or something. 🤷‍♂️
  13. Man, if Trump doesn’t turn those federal science grant dollars back on pretty soon, the Birmingham economy is going to get very real, very quick.
  14. Inducing price depreciation via a Second Depression.
  15. Trump literally won’t take a phone call from Trudeau. They still haven’t spoken.
  16. Rare Earths are a perfect example of this. Rare Earths aren’t actually rare (the “rare” in the title references a unique set of properties the lanthanides possess as a class of elements). The Chinese have generous supplies of lanthanides, but so do we, as does Australia and the Russians. The Chinese have a modern hammerlock on global supply because the processing of Rare Earths is nasty and toxic. They do it cheap, with little regard for human or environmental consequences. And they have a near monopoly on the processing of REs to the point that if we reopened Mountain Pass we’d still need to ship the ore to China for processing unless the government wanted to subsidize processing to make the refined product economically competitive.
  17. For Mexico, it's us or, well us. For Canada, they could conceivable attempt to make a deal with the EU. But if you don't think Xi Jinping isn't sliding into Trudeau's and Sheinbaum's DMs as we speak, I have some prime ocean front in AZ I'd like to show you.
  18. Yeah, across the board national tariffs haven't been a thing in our lifetimes. My Grandfather did not think highly of Herbert Hoover, and I will leave it at that, because No CR.
  19. Yeah as I understand it, the tariffs cause a short term price spike, but they aren't too much money chasing too few goods inflation. Long run, if they last, they are really just a consumption tax and pull money out of the economy from domestic consumers. Which can be good or bad, depending on what you want the economy to do. If that revenue is used to fund tax cuts for the wealthy, it's a straight up reverse wealth tax.
  20. In this case, Panch is trying to keep his job and so he's soft implementing the E.O. NIH is apparantly doing the same thing.
  21. Also, there's probably going to be a growing labor shortage in the real estate construction industry because of (No CR) reasons....
