Brown didn’t make clear Monday if she’d continue to exempt children younger than 12 and people with medical conditions who would be endangered by wearing a mask, as she had in her earlier order.
I don't get this. Mask your little petri dishes. I understand if there are special needs issues, and individual circumstances, but a 5 year old is perfectly capable of wearing a mask.

I bought this in a little shop on the Ile Saint-Louis in Paris last May. I specifically included in the list of shit I was taking with me in my divorce.
A couple of these. One with a longer knife blade that makes a great picnic knife. A couple that look like the first one in the OP, but more utilitarian.

The crazier thing is that we pay quite a lot in federal taxes, the federal government runs massive deficits, and we get fuck all to show for it.
We are in the export business. You know what the product is. Sorry, not sorry.

I'm still confused why being forced to wear clothes in public was never a big constitutional crisis. Isn't that a violation of the same unnamed constitutional right? At least the mask requirement is intended to protect people from disease, the clothing requirement is just based on one groups outmoded sense of morality.
Powerful stripper pole lobby pulling strings behind the scenes, imo.
Reduced market for poles if tiits and coozy hanging out all over the place.

Bump for Jester King doing shit right.
https://jesterkingbrewery.com/main-blog/jester-king-re-open-wednesday-july-1st
WE WILL BE REOPENING THIS WEDNESDAY, JULY 1ST AT 4PM. We will be ensuring that food sales constitute 51% of our onsite revenue. Ensuring this will effect the menu of beers available by the glass at Jester King. Aside from that, everything about our newly imagined park and picnic grounds will be the same in order to make Jester King as safe as possible to visit:
- All seating is outdoors and spaced across five areas covering 15 acres of Hill Country land
- We are open by reservation only with limited seating per session
- A hard close occurs between each session for cleaning and sanitizing
- All ordering is electronic
- All cutlery and drinkware are disposable or compostable
- Guests must wear masks when not seated at their table
- Parties are limited to six guests or less

It’s weird. I live in Port A which is located in Nueces County. While we are spiking over the last few weeks going from 7 cases to 22, it’s nothing like what is happening over in Corpus. The massive influx of tourists definitely has a lot to do with it.
Yep.

Nueces is just amazing to me. They are going to catch up to where Travis is pretty soon if these projections hold, but had very small numbers until very recently.
-
Getting this back on track with case projections from UTHealth for Travis and Nueces.Looks fun.

Remdesivir would not exist right now if we relied on the NIH or a similar public entity for novel drug development.

Maybe from their perspective, the profits ARE minimal...
Saving the world is valuable work.😉
Except their product isn't going to save the world. It reduced in hospital days by a modest amount, and did not separate significantly in terms of mortality (although it was headed in that direction).
If you asked me to price it (in a non-pandemic context), I would do it based on the cost savings associated with the modest reduction in hospital days.

Frustrating but remove the profit and new drug development ceases
I generally agree, but one thing that should be considered in the current, very unique pandemic situation, is that Gilead has recouped much of their R&D with extremely, extremely expensive Hep C drugs that were developed in the same R&D sweep.
-
Pricing is less than the initial models using quality adjusted life years suggested: https://www.fiercepharma.com/marketing/gilead-s-covid-19-therapy-remdesivir-worth-4-460-per-course-says-pricing-watchdog
Gilead still rakes dough at a much more modest price point, much lower than what they have rolled out.

Any geneticists want to translate this thread for us.
Sounds like the ABO blood type signal is not being replicated in this analysis, but there are some other gene candidates related to immune response?

Remdesivir released pricing: $3,120 per treatment cycle for those with private insurance (article on WSJ).
Can you link and spoiler tag that article?
How exactly is a treatment cycle defined? 10 day course?
