Sunday's going to be nice, actually. High about 60, sunny.
I'll bet somebody one bottle of beer that we've had our last daytime (i.e. later than say 10 a.m.) freeze for the year. I'd almost be willing to bet a second bottle that we may not freeze again until the fall. But it's been a weird winter so I hold off on that second one. Beer just doesn't grow on trees, you know.
You said something similar back in October about our last day over 90 degrees…then December and Christmas happened.
Count me in!

Has there ever been a bigger fan favorite underdog in the history of modern warfare than Ukraine and Pres. Zelensky?
They’re both the Rocky Balboa 4 of 80s movies.

If this happens as expected it’s going to be horrific. To be clear, it’s nightfall in Eastern Europe. Young Ukrainian children are going to be murdered with rockets and bombs in their homes where they feel safe.
I am not a pacifist and understand well the need for and grave costs of war. This war is not needed. Also for the record, it makes me feel all the more shame about how I responded during the lead up to Iraq as a younger man.
Praying and hoping this is instead similar to the final few minutes of 13 Days (fantastic movie btw) and skirting the edge of war right now is as close as it gets.

There are also multiple takes of most shots that get spliced together in the editing room. And then a lot of the dialog will get re-recorded in a studio afterward, particularly for scenes shot outdoors. Maybe they didn’t get a good recording when it was shot or there was other noise. So the actor will listen to the original recording and recreate the dialog in sync. staircase scenes at once, and so on.
This has always distracted me in modern tv shows and movies, often dramas.
Two characters speaking to one another with a camera angle which switches back and forth behind the other’s POV. Often times, the person who is talking has lips which are not synched at all and the head positioning is wildly off (twss) when the camera does the immediate switch back.
I don’t watch much tv or film but it’s one of those things I can’t unsee when noticed.- 2

I’ve had YTTV for neary six months now but I fired up the DVR for the first time since rewatching bowls games in December and now my it appears all my shows have forced commercials? 60 Minutes (yeah yeah yeah) had NINE commercials before even starting. None of which were skippable.
Has this always been the case for non-sporting events?

Is Blind Nate still with us? Haven’t seen him in this thread or out on the streets in a few years now.

It's almost like Russia is telegraphing what they are doing and then the US going out and telling everyone. Hey they just did this! It's weird like Putin is baiting us into a fight.
Yep. One of the very first posts about a month ago when this thread was bumped was essentially ‘things will slowly heat up in February around the Olympics, then Putin will finally pull the trigger immediately following closing ceremonies’. Right on cue.
i just hope we can stay out of this as much as possible. -

I feel like George W. in the SNL skit when @Shady Ray and @956 Worldwide are discussing German-Russian-Ukrainian relations in this thread.

I've been here a long time and I certainly would not refer to this as "one of the most significant icing events in at least the last several decades."
More like, a typical Central Texas ice storm we get once every couple years.

j/k AISD will be shut down.
Except they’ll keep with their long-standing tradition of announcing it sometime between 4-6am Thursday morning.

Sixty mph winds today can’t be good for the pollen today, can it?

El Dorado Cafe had their windows kicked in and their safe stolen a few days ago.
Same thing happened to 5280 down the street on Christmas Eve. Some serious coin was stolen.

Ummm, it’s sleeting in NW Hills right now?

Any of you have any decking/patio suggestions here in Central Texas? I’m wanting to tear up my existing patio surrounding the pool and start anew with an expanded, larger deck (cool deck) which extends all the way to the house.
Most places I see are design-build only. Seems like something I could spend a few grand on designs for and then cut an independent contractor loose to do instead.

I was tested for allergies three years ago but never moved forward with the shots. That officially changes next year.
I can’t take this any longer. -
It’s going to be 79° and 86% humidity on Christmas isn’t it?

Georgia and Notre Dame both lost to another playoff team also. It's a shitshow for the 4th spot.
This. I have no idea who #4 should be but I have a hard time stomaching a scenario where a team which has a data point less than 24 hours old shows they’re 17 points worse than another playoff team, has any business being in the CFP.
