  1. I'm not sure which thread to put this in. Lots of poll workers didn't show up today in Travis County causing long lines. https://www.statesman.com/news/20200303/coronavirus-fears-causing-chaos-at-travis-polls-county-clerk-says?utm_source=SND&utm_medium=Twitter&utm_campaign=statesman

  4. What is your plan for the homeless?
  5. I popped into the stream of Tulsi‘S town hall in austin and a dude was saying he came from San Antonio for the event near where the cases are being found. I bet every asshole in that room clenched.
  6. I bet you were really proud of that zinger.
  7. He could be in 3rd when initial results come in as those are usually the early votes when you had more nominees but he'll rise as the night goes on and Election Day results are counted.
  8. In related news, Delta is adding an additional daily AUS-SEA flight. So...that's news.
  9. Mine too. No regrets. He would have been a good potus.
  10. Could Amy get a negative percentage?
  11. Sending this nomination allows the current acting director to stay in office for another 210 days without senate approval. This is just gaming the system.
  12. What could you see in SC that would change your vote?
  13. That's fair but I think the risk is motivated by the desire to expand the medical school and they have to demolish Erwin and Cooley to do that.
  14. Those lights are going and people will just U-turn at the grade separated intersection nearby. A DC at Mopac would have to be a part of a Mopac project.
  15. That's the price of having public input. They have to engineer options, promote events, have events, organize info, engineer consensus to see what's possible, come back to public, repeat, then do full design and env review. The public input is why it'll be underpasses instead of overpasses. I'm actually all for in taking out the public outreach portion and just tell people to shut up and deal with it but it keeps complaints down. Anyway, as a reminder this is what the caps would look like:
  16. Some more notes that came from the Statesman and Lara Korte . -$30 million will be used for construction costs and the other $30 million will be used to outfit the building with the proper training equipment. -Construction costs for the facility are higher than normal, Fenves added, because the building is being constructed over a truck access route to the Moody Center. This would put the practice facility on the arena's west side along the new Red River St. -The school hopes to complete the Moody Center and practice facility as soon as possible to make room for the expansion of the nearby Dell Medical School. As a result, the school is requesting to fund the practice facility by going into debt, with the hope that it will be repaid with future donations. This could make Shaka's buyout worth it if CDC feels that Shaka is the problem. The team needs to win to get donations.

  18. Spirit Airlines actually launched its first international flight today to Cancun. They start Nashville and Newark next month. That'll be 13 cities and they've only been here a year.
  19. Na. It's just a little more asphalt and just repainting. I don't think it'll require utility and drainage work. The dark gray is new asphalt. The long term work will take years but it'll be worth it. I've previewed those changes early in this thread.
  20. HOV. Rendering is based on previous design which will change in some way. There is also an exit to 12th. It also includes braided entrances/exits which reduces congestion.
  21. That's crazy. As a reminder, the last plan was to lower the mainlanes in downtown and tunnel them where the decks are.
  22. -CTRMA is officially underway with a study to extend the Manor Expressway (290) to Elgin. Phase 1 of construction would extend the tollway to FM 973 in Manor and phase 2 would go to Elgin. -183 South work will finish in December -Construction will start late this year on the 183A extension from Hero Way to 29 in Liberty Hill -Construction on the additional general purpose lane and 2 toll lanes on 183 from Mopac to 35 will start early next year. This will also include big improvements to the mopac toll lane as well as direct ramps from the mopac toll lanes to 183 toll lanes. -Mopac South costs are being updated and environmental assessment still underway -CTRMA is proposing adding lanes to SB Mopac near Barton Skyway to ease merging congestion. Seem like smart short term changes. Long term those 2 on ramps in a row have to go. The purpose is to help Enfield ramp merge further north. -TxDot will start Oak Hill Parkway construction at the Y in SW Austin towards the end of the year. -CAMPO sees a 2027 start to designing the missing piece of the 45 tollroad in Kyle between 35 and 1626
  23. Allegiant is terrible but they haven't had a hull loss at least. Leasing out the South Terminal really ended up being a great call. No cost to the port and really gives more opportunities for trying out new routes. Not all will stick but some do.
  24. Thanks! No clue what that group is. I think they will. AUS has seemed to go all in on budget airlines like Norwegian, Allegiant, Frontier and Spirit. It has opened up a lot of new directs.
