But that's the problem with a lot of the discussion in this thread. People continually conflate Tesla's Autopilot features with FSD. Tesla's "Autopilot" feature is simply TACC + Lane-keeping. Tesla's Enhanced Autopilot takes it a step further and adds in automatic lane changes based on traffic conditions and set speed. There is a third level of Autopilot called "Navigate on Autopilot" which will navigate highway interchanges and take highway exits. FSD (Supervised) - the current revised Tesla nomenclature - does all of the above plus navigation on city streets.
The vehicle in the article above was in "Autopilot" = TACC + Lane-keeping.
Tesla should be better at naming things, marketing those things and explaining why they have value so people buy those things. instead, they just fired their entire US-based advertising team.

"We’re still watching for exPorts with one potential “surprise” as a possibility."
There's a strong chance this player will leave. We might find out today.
We're also tracking a rePort aka a one-time imPort."we don't know shit but we think that a player may portal out because a player may also portal in. it could have happened yesterday. it could happen today. it could happen tomorrow. it could happen next week. watch this space for us to edit in text below backing up what we think may happen and if it doesn't happen it's because Texas talked the player into staying (we won't report on his name for privacy reasons, but also because we don't know his name)"

It was an expression, not a callout for a fact check, Captain Asperger.
i thought it was even more funny that he touched the field once in 2 years, and got no stats and then never touched it again before retiring than if he never touched it at all, but whatever

I should have been more clear. I am comparing my experience with Tesla's TACC and Autopilot (lane-keeping) to my experience with Volvo's. Tesla has more overt notifications when engaging these systems along with on-screen warnings as compared to Volvo. Driver-monitoring is more frequent and obvious in the Tesla than the Volvo.
FSD is a different animal.
funny enough IIHS gave both the FSD and Autopilot a P (Poor) rating on safety, which is the same as the Volvo Pilot Assist
https://www.iihs.org/ratings/partial-automation-safeguards
to be fair, all but 3 tested systems got poor ratings. the Lexus version got an A (Acceptable), the GM and Nissan version version got an M (Marginal)

I am not quite sure he has an actual strategy. They really are touting to themselves the notion of The Return To Junction in terms of his perceived approach. Out with the coddled talent and in with the blue collared badasses that just want to get into a good scrap. Right.
i've heard a guy i know/see around town here make that same kind of comment
it's such a fucking dumb thing to bring up considering they went 1-9, were lucky nobody died, had their quarterback break 4 bones in his back (he did not go to the hospital), lost to everyone they could even consider a rival and had the only losing season Bear Bryant ever had.
but hey, the 6-0 win vs Georgia gave us this hilarious headline: https://www.newspapers.com/article/chattanooga-daily-times-texas-aggies-bea/132997713/

Beyond all of that, I am sure with a little thought, I could come up with someone at Texas that busted as hard as Bobby Taylor, but I don't have time for that. This idiot ran his fucking mouth the entire 2022 recruitment cycle, talked monstrous shit about Texas in the process, and touted himself as a future super star. After doing such, he never touched the field, tested the transfer portal twice and gathered no interest, and now will never be playing football again, with his last meaningful snap coming in his senior year in HS. Another fitting end.
somehow the truth on this scenario is even funnier than if he never played. he touched the field vs New Mexico last year and had no stats, nor touched the field any other time.
fuck that guy.

This is my anecdotal evidence, but I get more reminders and warnings from my Tesla’s driver assist features than I have ever gotten from any other make of vehicle.
I have a Volvo that has TACC and lane-keeping. I get nothing but a “ding” when I engage it. I have also had it turn off the lane-keeping function with no notice multiple times. It’s quite disconcerting. I am far more comfortable using Tesla’s features than the Volvo’s....of course adaptive cruise control alerts you less than FSD. it exists for a very specific use case, has a much smaller scope and typically you don't have it on all the time.
...so of course it is going to drop in significantly fewer notifications than FSD Beta. or it certainly should.
here's what Volvo's website says about their Adaptive Cruise Control:
QuoteAdaptive Cruise Control helps your Volvo maintain a set speed or time interval in relation to the vehicle ahead. This feature utilizes a camera as well as a radar sensor to detect slower moving vehicles ahead of you and automatically adjusts your Volvo's speed. Once you are no longer behind the vehicle you will speed back up to your preset speed. To activate the function, you must be driving at speeds 9 mph (15 km/h) or higher, the seatbelt needs to be fastened, and the doors need to be closed.
Note: This system is designed to be a supplementary driving aid. It is not intended to replace the driver's attention and judgment. Adaptive Cruise Control cannot cover all driving situations and traffic, weather and road conditions. ACC is not a collision avoidance system! It does not sense pedestrians, animals, bicycles, or motorcycles. You, as the driver, are always responsible for braking the vehicle.
ACC is absolutely not a 1:1 comparison for FSD - and again, you know that.
come on, dude.

I did buy the jarred El Patio hot salsa a couple weeks ago and it sucked, no heat and not much flavor.
what's a good go-to ready to eat salsa these days.
i liked the mark's jarred stuff historically, but they have changed the one i like. don't love the heb-branded stuff near the guac, but someone told me it changed recently. picked up the taco deli stuff and did not enjoy it (had an off note in it, maybe it was just that container?)

Sad for who? I find it hilarious. I don’t know the guy or his family. Why do I need to feel sad? Plenty of people every day walk away from what their parents want and move to their own beat. He chose not to and now he has neither the adoration of a fanbase that his parents crave nor the accolades to merit much interest from anyone athletically. I’d like to see many aggie athletes finish up that way.
that's totally fair. dude fucked around and found out.

there was one really consistent piece of feedback I got yesterday. A LOT of people like OTF because it's SUPER inclusive and there is no sidebar bullshit or drama between the posters. They are there to be fans and get info and interact with the OTF team, not to talk shit or disagree with each other on hot takes. I think by and large they represent the majority of the fanbase, want to stay current, love the horns, but don't necessarily have many of their own opinions - reflects the gen pop well.
i think with the existing 9.95er landscape, there is 100% a place for that
limited to no off topic data, super accessible "insiders", focus on sports not drama and bring a tremendous value for what you pay. you guys are set up to be in a great spot the closer we get to the fall - seriously.
i would think there is a place for this concept at some of the other larger schools where folks ("insiders" and posters both) are fed up with the bullshit. give them a piece of the pie, let them do their job pretty straighforward and rock and roll.
i know you are busy but when OTF shows it's level of success, and no clue what the end game is, you guys should absolutely reach out to some other people in the industry and spin this concept off for them using the lessons learned from starting up OTF

also, Musk in the last 30 days has 2000+ tweets! which are numbers only exceeded by these people
for comparison here are how many tweets the other accounts in the top 10 most followed (per social blade) have sent in the last 30 days
- Obama: 23
- CR7: 20
- Bieber: 0 (actually he deleted 4 in the last 30 days so he has -4)
- Rihanna: 11
- Katy Perry: 29
- Nardendra Modi (indian PM): 589
- Taylor Swift: 14
- Trump: 0
- Ariana Grande: 113
looking at the rest of the top 25 with a notable # of tweets
- NASA: 164
- youtube: 390
- Kim Kardashian: 39
- X: 51
- CNN: 192
- CNN Breaking News: 160
- NYT: 1813
NYT is #25 in followers.
so just to be clear, he has more tweets in the last 30 days than the #2-24 most followed accounts on his website...combined
all while, on paper, being the CEO of SpaceX, the CEO of Tesla and the CEO of Twitter.
i kind of love how this guy has gone from a misunderstood genius to someone who is going to be a case study for how not to run a business, any business. terrible rebrands, terrible business decisions DAILY, fumbling a years long lead on EVs, waiving due diligence, firing off dumb lawsuits, major course changes within days/weeks/months of making the decision, horrible executive hiring practices, etc
what a fucking moron.

Seems like Elon will not be vacationing down under anytime soon. Funny, a South African known to control what his people can say, complaining about censorship.
SYDNEY, April 23 (Reuters) - Elon Musk lashed out at Australia's prime minister on Tuesday after a court ordered his social media company X to take down footage of an alleged terrorist attack in Sydney, and said the ruling meant any country could control "the entire internet".At a hearing overnight, Australia's Federal Court ordered X, formerly called Twitter, to temporarily hide posts showing video of the incident a week earlier, in which a teenager was charged with terrorism for knifing an Assyrian priest and others.snippets
QuoteElon Musk is currently embroiled in a battle with Australian authorities over demands for X to remove violent content of a stabbing that took place during a livestreamed service at a church in Sydney last week. Musk is arguing that such decisions could give countries the power to control “the entire internet,” while the Australian government is arguing that geoblocking content isn’t enough in its plea for decency and social responsibility.
“Our concern is that if ANY country is allowed to censor content for ALL countries, which is what the Australian ‘eSafety Commissar’ is demanding, then what is to stop any country from controlling the entire Internet?” said Musk, noting that the objectionable content is already geoblocked in Australia and only resides on US servers.
Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that “social media companies, that make a lot of money out of their business, have a social responsibility” to remove violent content from their platforms.
On Monday, the Australian eSafety Commission argued that geoblocking did not meet the definition of removal of the footage under the Online Safety Act, which gives Commissioner Julie Inman Grant power to order the removal of materials that “promotes, incites, instructs in or depicts abhorrent violent conduct, such as kidnapping, rape, torture, murder, attempted murder and terrorist acts” if it could “go viral and cause significant harm to the Australian community.”
This dispute started on April 16th, when Meta and X — formerly known as Twitter — were ordered by Inman Grant to globally remove videos and imagery of the stabbing within 24 hours or risk facing fines that depend on “the gravity of the non-compliance.” The maximum penalty is about $500,000 per violation, according to The Wall Street Journal. In a blog post on Monday, Meta said it had complied with the order to “protect the community from harmful content.”
-
QuoteX’s Global Government Affairs team responded with a statement a few days later, noting it had complied with the order despite claiming the posts don’t violate the platform’s rules on violent speech. X said it would challenge the global takedown order in court and claimed they “go against the very principles of a free and open internet and threaten free speech everywhere.”
On Monday, the Federal Court of Australia hit X with an injunction compelling the platform to temporarily hide the violent content for global users until the court can determine the validity of Inman Grant’s removal notice.
“We’ll do what’s necessary to take on this arrogant billionaire who thinks he’s above the law, but also above common decency,” Albanese told ABC News on Tuesday. “The idea that someone would go to court for the right to put up violent content on a platform shows how out-of-touch Mr Musk is. Social media needs to have social responsibility with it. Mr Musk is not showing any.”
Musk has lashed out multiple times on X over the ruling, accusing the Australian prime minister and eSafety commissioner of limiting global free speech. “Should the eSafety Commissar (an unelected official) in Australia have authority over all countries on Earth?” Musk said in a post, having previously referred to Inman Grant as the “Australian censorship commissar.”
Earlier this month, Musk had a face-off against Brazil after he claimed to have defied orders to block certain X user accounts, prompting an investigation over potential obstruction of justice. The spat was later settled on April 15th after a letter from Musk’s lawyers said that “all orders issued by this Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court will continue to be fully complied with by X Corp.”
do these people think stabbing videos are good for the platform, advertisers, normal users, etc?

The Twitter tells my Bryce Foster is not listed on their roster 🤔
Bryce Foster going to A&M to do football and T&F, only to quit football and only do T&F there instead of going to one of the significantly better throwing programs in the country is a very sad story.
Had a promising throwing future, and went to a program that didn't maximize his skills.

another day, another major design issue with the Cybertruck
https://jalopnik.com/tesla-cybertruck-breaks-in-new-innovative-way-1851426532
QuoteIf you’re not familiar, Tesla really wants you to put your car in Drive or Park using the touchscreen. Since touchscreens can crash, though, you need a second way to get your car into gear. So Tesla put a panel in the middle of the windshield that allows you to put it in Drive yourself. The sun visors also attach to the same panel when in use.
Since sun visors get so much use, and moving them puts strain on whatever they’re mounted to, you’d assume Tesla would have done enough durability testing to make sure the plastic could stand up to repeated use. Apparently, you’d also be wrong.
Jalopnik also gave the CT a new nickname i haven't seen before

not to be this guy but there are a LOT of people in the industry who say FSD will never get SAE Level 4 Certification, much less Level 5 with their current technological setup on the car.
these are not folks with axes to grind, they are tech folks.
