Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent an internal email on Wednesday, telling staffers that the company sent out some severance packages that were too low to a number of laid-off workers this week.

“As we reorganize Tesla it has come to my attention that some severance packages are incorrectly low,” Musk wrote in the brief email. “My apologies for this mistake. It is being corrected immediately.”

What's going to happen, warranty wise, when it rains on these vehicles, birds shit on them, etc?  Tesla has already explicitly warned against this kind of thing:

it's the absolute funniest part of this entire situation, they are essentially selling a truck that is going to look like shit due to, ya know, everything outdoors touching it.

and they are storing them outside an unknown period of time, because of this issue.

it's incredible. they are going to look so bad.

It's kind of unbelievable how predictably all of this is unfolding. Deion's arrogance in the notion that he's some sort of magnetic force that will simply attract the best and the brightest due to that was only reinforced by the start early last season and all of the adoration.

That didn't translate at all in recruiting, it's starting to seriously lose its luster with the current roster, and the transfer portal this cycle is shit for them. It may turn out that the HC of a program actually has to, you know, put the work in on recruiting, player relationship management, and portal recruiting. That would blow a lot of minds, not the least of which will be Deion's. Then he'll just blame a bunch of other people and mysterious forces working against him and fuck off elsewhere eventually.

This CU 2024, short of a number of portal hail mary completions, is 2-10/3-9 at best and the roster is all his (un)doing.

the 0 off campus visits last year is a truly incredible statistic

    Demarco Cobbs comes to mind.

didn't he have that wild recruiting/hosting streak then fight some OU recruit on a visit who was negative recruiting Texas?

He hosted Shiro Davis, who was committed to LSU at the time. He hosted Dalton Santos, who ended up flipping his commitment from Tennessee. The last recruit he hosted was current linebacker Malik Jefferson.

The only recruit that Cobbs missed on was Dorial Green-Beckham, who ended up committing to Missouri.

“The recruiting aspect intrigues me the most,” Cobbs said. “I was so passionate about [Texas]… just helping get guys here. I was just pumped up about that; I looked forward to it. I really wanted to tell them that Texas was a special place.”

Everyone has an opinion, including you and an economist named Emily Oster. I don't have any problem with that, truly, but it's just not accurate. Formula is a godsend. It's fantastic in countless ways and there shouldn't be any judgment for someone who choses to use or has to use formula, but breast feeding is better. There is a definitive, factual downside.

For giggles I added a WHO study and results about the marketing and biased science of an insanely profitable formula industry in addition to some papers, articles and studies from: John's Hopkins, National Library of Medicine, WebMD, Mount Sinai, the WHO and Harvard. The FDA finds decreased risk of food allergies and lower risk of obesity with breastfeeding.

sorry if this came across like i was shitting on breast feeding - i am not. i am recognizing that not every woman can physically do it and that not every baby latches well enough for breast feeding to work. my wife had major issues breast feeding with our first and the looks/comments we got from folks around our age and folks in healthcare (my industry) make my blood literally boil

breast IS best. but anyone acting like formula is crappy is wrong, period.

i genuinely HATE the olds who act like you are letting your baby down by not breast feeding or folks who had no issue breast feeding looking down on women who do have issues.

also no reason to take a shot at Oster. she isn't perfect, but cribsheet and the other work she does is excellent.

Looked pretty clear to me, stopped a clear goal scoring op.

This is gonna be a wild ride to end. 10v11 and Dembele makes it 4-3 aggregate going into the 2nd half

Also Dortmund score 2 to make it 3-2 agg against Atleti.

    Wild rides today

not disagreeing at all w/r/t the red. just pointing out that has to be rare

there's the 2nd goal. Barca will be lucky to not give up 2 or 3 more. bad sub, should have kept Lamine Yamal on.

edit: wtf, straight red for Xavi?! what is going on here. keep your head, man

edit2: penalty? so dumb. dumb players do dumb shit.

  8. this seems like the wrong way to handle it

also losing 2 hours (!) of productivity because you are having to do badge checks because of your shitty notification method? just incredible.

Some Tesla factory workers realized they were laid off when security scanned their badges and sent them back on shuttles, sources say

    Quote

The cuts impacted engineers and production associates alike. At Tesla's factory in Sparks, Nevada, workers faced about a two-hour line Monday morning in order to get into the facility as a result of badge checks, one worker said.

At the factory, the security team was scanning the badges of workers coming out of the shuttles that ferry people between the factory and nearby parking lots, said two current Tesla workers who requested anonymity since they weren't authorized to speak about the matter. Typically, security guards inspect workers' badges at the site, but don't usually scan them directly, the two workers said. On Monday morning, the officials picked out the workers who had been laid off and sent them back on separate vans, the two workers said.

Three other former Tesla employees said workers at the Fremont factory were told by security that if their badges didn't work they were no longer employed.

Tesla employees who were terminated received notice via their personal emails on Sunday night and their access to Tesla systems was revoked, four workers said. The company-wide email that Elon Musk sent announcing the cuts was delivered shortly before midnight on Sunday, according to a timestamp on the memo viewed by BI.

"We have done a thorough review of the organization and made the difficult decision to reduce our headcount globally. Unfortunately as a result, your position has been eliminated by this restructuring," a separate email notifying impacted employees they'd been laid off reads, according to a copy viewed by Business Insider.

The email sent directly to laid-off staff said the cuts would be effective immediately and workers would receive information regarding their severance within 48 hours.

reddit rumor is 10% globally, 20% RIF in Austin, backing off night shifts by a couple of hours (or entirely) and 50% of the QA team was let go.

Tesla announced today that it is laying off over 10% of its workforce. The automaker is again using “hiring inefficiencies due to rapid growth” as the reason for the layoffs.

However, Electrek is learning that Tesla is also using this round of layoffs to clean house on some projects in Austin, Texas.

We previously reported that Tesla’s SVP of Powertrain and Energy Engineering, Drew Baglino, left the company today.

Baglino was leading many engineering projects at Tesla, including the 4680 battery cell production and the cathode factory at Gigafactory Texas in Austin. Those two projects have seen serious delays.

Sources familiar with the matter have told Electrek that Tesla has also let go of Anthony Thurston, Senior Manager of Cathode Materials & Manufacturing at Tesla, who was reporting to Baglino regarding the cathode factory project.

A person familiar with the project described it to Electrek as “a financial black hole.”
