Regarding their current outlook for starting OL, it's really, really grim over there. Holy shit, from Tarp:

I've provided some thoughts on Texas A&M's offensive tackles but focused primarily on them as players. Now, here are some takes on the offensive line this spring as a whole (the following is solely a product of my thought process).

    1. You're going to have at least five starting caliber guys for the five spots up front. Your questions are more about who's going to play as opposed to can so and so be an adequate player at a particular position.

    2. A lineup of Trey Zuhn (left side) and Dametrious Crownover (right side) at tackle, Chase Bisontis and Armaj Reed-Adams at guard, and Mark Nabou at center makes a lot of sense for multiple reasons going into the spring game (this isn't necessarily a projection for the season opener…we've got a long way to go before then).

    3. Zuhn is experienced and has a nice kick step to stay with people on the edge. He's got to deal with people getting their hands into his chest but he's gradually improved that aspect of his game as he's gotten bigger and more experienced. Crownover offers a lot of potential and is probably the best pure athlete up front. He has dominant reps when everything works for him and that's something that everyone seems to be attracted to. However, he has to reduce the problematic reps and individual games, particularly in terms of his usage rate.

    4. Bisontis is a big guy with a quick first step. He looks good on initial contact and his legs keep churning to sustain his advantage. Playing between people and getting help in pass pro will enable him to avoid the "play in space with no help" scenarios he faced far too often in 2023 as a converted guard on the edge (and he was a true freshman to boot). Reed-Adams is a massive guy and he's got quite a few starts under his belt. The trick for him will be dealing with quicker players on the interior since (like Bisontis) you're not going to run over him in pass pro.

    5. Nabou is solid on the inside as the pivot man. He doesn't seem to struggle with snaps, and he can be very physical. He is another guy that you're not going to run over. The trick for him will be getting off of the ball, keeping his feet moving, and getting his hand placement going.

    6. Beyond what I think would be the first five, there's still generally a lot of people trying to reconcile themselves to a new campus or offensive scheme, gaining experience as youngsters, in track, or dealing with injuries (either from the spring or last season).

    7. I think that Reuben Fatheree is an exception to all of the above, I like him just fine, and I could be wrong, but we'll see.

    ----

To translate, they have Crownover and Bisontis starting and neither guy has any film that can be viewed positively. They have a guy at C that was trampled repeatedly last season. Reuben Fatheree is their offensive line's MacGuffin.

they are talking about moving a guy to C who started one game there last year

    image.png.c284b1ad412f416b1da1b805f5451764.png

then as bad as Foster was they never flipped Nabou back to C the rest of the year?

they are in a scenario where they return 80% of their starts last year and 4 starters YoY which should be good news.

...but 1 of them wasn't starter quality. 1 of them stays at LT. the LG moves to C. the RT moves to RG. they are starting a transfer from Kansas in this scenario at LG (who got paid)

their OL room is horrific. how many of these guys would even make the 2 deep at Texas? 2?

    image.thumb.png.ad7c178372d304a9666916a314ed822d.png

as we know the OL sucking really fucks up a rebuild. their OL is going to be not great next year unless they see multiple guys suddenly become incredible overnight. highly doubt that happens.

The cybertruck is stupid and sucks.

But I would still take one over a Honda freaking Ridgeline.

In fact about the only trucks I would take a cybertruck over is the Ridgeline and the Santa Cruz.

my point was that the ridgeline is 210.2" long and 78.6" wide

the cybertruck is 223.7" long and 86" wide. it's bed is 2" longer than the ridgeline

it's about as useful for towing stuff as a mid sized pickup. and it doesn't have a midgate

the cybertruck is a fucking dumb vehicle

I think you care entirely too much about aesthetics, but as long as we’re having this conversation I think wearing a t-shirt looks horrible on camera. Just get anything with a collar. Tees are my one pet peeve.

i get super annoyed that people who purport to do this for a living, do such a shitty job of it. if they care this little then just do podcasts.

obviously i'm not out here trying to get them to set up green screens and have a professional setup, but for very little money and spending 2 min looking at your product you can make it much more appealing. it's the kind of thing that's so easy not doing the minimal shows everyone how little you care about your product.

which is fine if you are hornsports or surly and doing it for free - but if you are putting your stuff behind a paywall it's lazy and shows how little you care.

i've complained before. OTF was not great when they started but they quickly got much better

IT is basically still as shitty as they were before, with the exception some of them have actual mics now and don't use the shitty ones built into their laptops.

Is there a chance the 9.95’rs are in some cases misreading recruit interest? Every recruit’s agent wants their recruit to visit Texas and show strong interest in order to drive up NIL money offers from other schools.

there is a grand canyon sized difference between Bobby reading level of interest and reporting on it vs someone like EJ Holland or Ketch reporting on recruits level of interest.

Yeah, finally saw one in person.  Surprised how small the bed was.  Basically like a Honda Ridgeline.

    funny you should mention that:

honda ridgeline bed size: 64" with 50" between wheelwells - it's 210.2" long

    cybertruck: 66" length with 51" between wheelwells - it's 223.7" long

this is the preproduction truck over the ridgeline

yeah, why have that when we can things that are black and silver, or black and green, or black and neon green, or black and white with some red sprinkled in or black and blue with some red/silver sprinkled in

liveries in F1 right now are pretty bad.

i have no clue who LC is, dude isn't on their masthead and i can't figure out who he is on the first page of google results, but he at least was on more than 1 video call over the last 4 years and knows to have his camera not setup 3' from the wall

for a quick comparison here is the OTF setup, which appears someone spent more than half a second of thought into how they would look on a call and how they would sound. what a concept when you do this for a living

What's fucking INSANE is that TSLA is literally more than 10X the market cap of Ford, who actually make and sell vehicles! Musk has pumped TSLA's valuation so high on speculation, FOMO, and buzzword technobabble. And a large contingent of suckers willing to pay give figures to beta test their pedestrian and emergency services killing software

    once again

is this bad? it seems bad

Tesla ended 2023 with just more than 140,000 employees. That means Tesla shipped about 13 vehicles for each employee it had at the end of 2023. General Motors shipped 38 vehicles per employee, while Ford Motor shipped 25.

major layoffs coming, both open and stealth. somewhere between 10 and 20% (14-28k folks globally?) RIF

firing 10+% of your workforce is a great indicator for growth - right?

    +

the CEO of a 140k employee company now saying he must approve ALL NEW HIRES

we've all worked at companies where you have seen a version of this. Elon sending it to all employees is just cherry on top lol

    Quote

I would like to gain a better understanding of our hiring. VPs should send me a list of their department hiring requests once a week.

Think carefully before sending me a request. No one can join Tesla, even as a contractor, until you receive my email approval.

and 100% of the time it's bad.

going on a full hiring freeze to the level your micromanager CEO has to individually approve hires is a great indicator for growth, right?

    +

cutting shift time on the Cybertruck production line by 12.5% 5 months in to delivery and with 3 days notice is totally normal, right?

    https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-tells-cybertruck-employees-shifts-shorter-austin-gigafactory-2024-4

all totally normal things for a company with "unlimited growth potential"

But in some ways, this goes back to the all in poker story. Elon does have a different view on risk, because of his wealth, he can just throw money at a problem to solve it. And his companies have this benefit. So losses now, they should be fine, unless he gets bored.

imagine what +$44b would have done for SpaceX at this point in time.

instead he lit it on fire and somehow found a worse investment than drafting off the betting that Ippei was doing that also makes him look like a dumbass

Will Buxton (i know) said something recently on a podcast that made sense to me which was why drop Antonelli in Williams for example to learn F1, the team, etc only to drop him into the MB seat in another year where he has to learn the team, etc a second time. if you are bailing on 25 (and at this point they are closer to last than they are the WDC) why not just take the leap?

he isn't some raw high schooler. he's a RSJR who has been in college for 3 years and touched the field 8 times out of 22 games played.
the career of Beau Davis so far:
    • 2020 as a recruit: #87 player in Michigan, reported offers from FIU and Florida Atlantic, went to a JuCo
    • 2021: East Mississippi Community College, played in 6 of 9 games, had 2 solo tackles and 7 assists
    • 2022: Southeastern Louisiana University, played in 2 of 13 games, had 0 solo tackles and 3 assists. was not one of the 5 DEs listed on their 2 deep for their last regular season game
    • 2023: I think he was at Southeastern Louisiana University, was not on the participation report for any games
    • 2024: going to be on the roster at LSU

Nuance and innuendo don't compute in your brain very well do they. I imply it would take a miracle to get his kid drafted (if that was the main reason he left as reported by many) yet you throw me the kids entire history and say I'm the one saying dumb things? Ok chief, I'm sitting here in my office seriously trying not to bust out laughing, congrats.

yes, it would literally take a Henry Rowengartner/Rookie of the Year style miracle to get his son drafted. even typing it out is fucking dumb, but again par for your course to even mention it.

i would venture that this is the first time in the history of the internet someone has ever even hinted at him getting drafted - and it's you, of course.

it's a dumb comment made by a guy with a long history of making dumb comments.
