How rich are they? Get back to me on that. You’re a humorless cunt so I’m assuming they’re losers like yourself

LOL.  The PhD is fucking rolling in dough.  CEO of a thriving company with a gorgeous 5300+ sf house in prime NW Austin.  The nuke medicine tech owns a lot of real estate, but I don't know his business.

I see you've taken up the Onboard phrasing, by the way.  Original.

Do we know the same Iranians?

I know two Iranian families where the men fit this age criteria...and this is spot on.

If you live in NW Hills or north central Austin, it's probably the same 2 guys.

Those my age and older do. Check out Beyond Shahs of Sunset on Facebook. I am sure the millennials vote no differently than their peers.

I am good friends with 2 Iranian professional men (PhD Engineering ~ 55 YO, Nuclear Medicine Tech ~ 57 YO) and both hate Trump more than I do.

I suspect you're full of shit, as usual.

    EDIT:  this is in Texas

  4. Yeah, I started formal piano lessons at age 4 and finally bailed ~ 9th grade.  I became pretty accomplished.  Keyboard theory was easy for me.

Taught myself guitar in 5th grade when Mom bought a cheap acoustic and took about 3 lessons.  I grabbed the guitar, her Mel Bay lesson book, and basically learned most of the  open chord fingerings, along with 2 basic barre chords.  I don't think I've gotten any better since.  I just don't think in that  nonlinear way that is the guitar fretboard.  Too many options.  If I want to play A 440 Hz on a piano, there is exactly one key I can hit.  Guitar?  It's a smorgasbord.

Point taken.  I never post in Music, Food & Travel, Daily Texan, Help, or Football/Baseball/Basketball (depending on the season).  You have me dead to rights.

I know President Xi of China very well. He is a great leader who very much has the respect of his people. He is also a good man in a “tough business.” I have ZERO doubt that if President Xi wants to quickly and humanely solve the Hong Kong problem, he can do it. Personal meeting?

Oh, please, PLEASE do elaborate.  This should be rich.

I think I've linked this one before, or maybe one of the reaction videos to it, but if you listen to this and aren't taken by the power, maybe it's not Bonamassa who's without soul.

Yep, he sounds great (especially when he's soloing and the camera is behind Beth Hart).

  11. You know, there are ways to rotate various ETFs, index funds, mutual funds, bonds, whatever (choose your poison) based on what is performing well and outperform the market long term, with high Sharpe & Sortino ratios.  I'll get crucified for being a "curve fitter" so that's all I'll say but when the selection is small, diverse, and the rules are simple (e.g. trade last day of month only), then maybe that's not curve-fitting, maybe that's just saying that markets don't actually crash in a one-month time frame.  (Never mind that an all-in-on-SPY approach is just as exposed to market crashes.)

Go to prison how is that even a question...

It's a question for people who understand how the justice system works.  How about we convict someone before sending them to prison?

they are dealing with bubble within a bubble.  they have their right wing husbands telling them all the time about the crazy libruls.  and couples like to think they are a united team.  counting on split households is a big time folly.

I tend to agree.  I grew up in the rural midwest -- most people I still connect with are conservative, and most of them still support Trump.

I grew up in an era when our parents never told anyone who they voted for, even their spouse.  Now, it's a talking point in virtually any situation.  There are no secrets.  I highly doubt many God-fearing rural wives are going to vote against their husbands.  Some might do so and then lie about it, but that's probably as far as it goes, and it's a small minority.

  14. I don't really care what bucket one puts JB in, I find his playing just a little too lacking in soul.  The 2 clips tbone_ posted illustrate it pretty well for me.  Neither he nor Mayer possess particularly enduring personalities, but somehow when I watch Mayer I feel like he's truly connected.  Joe feels more robotic.

That said, he's obviously a monster player, and I am ALL FOR monster players doing what he's doing, which is playing live and keeping that light on.

When I think of later generation blues rock players I want to listen to, I feel like Austin has put multiple guys on the map that are in Bonamassa's realm as players but who connect just a little more.  Obviously SRV (via Dallas), but also Ian Moore, Charlie Sexton, Chris Duarte, Doyle Jr., GClark Jr., etc.  If you haven't had your ears pinned back in a small club by one of those guys, then I think it's just a little easier to gravitate to a guy like JB.  In no way am I trying to diminish his talent or even snub those who are fanatics -- like I said, he's on the road bringing real bands to real people and I applaud him for it.  It's just not quite my thing.

I'd probably sell a kid to play like him, though.  Just kidding.  Maybe.

You were expecting one?  If you were stupid enough to ever support Trump, you're highly unlikely to ever change your mind based on new information coming to light.

Derek Trucks is fucking amazing.  Going to see him in Austin in November.

I saw Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Moody (ACL theater), and she was the one who truly blew me away.  What a voice.

Nope.  That's fake news.  Summer temps range from 70.6 F to 74.9 F depending on location.  USGS measurements at the coolest spot in the pool (summer readings) were consistently 70.5 F.
