  1. man...i don't even know what thread to put this one in...i'm pretty disturbed by it tbh, prolly cause it's on the heals of several other things... one, the conversation with my French friend i shared in the international thread, depressed the hell out of me cuz in the end you kind of still hope 'maybe it's just us, maybe we see too much of the minutiae so our view is skewed'. turns out nope, the world is indeed watching in horror/glee. two, without providing too much detail for the law enforcement monitoring this board (🖕), currently assisting in a situation with a young woman who traveled many miles to get access to a service that is freely available where i live but recently outlawed where she lives. been a few fun conversations around CYA and what not to say and to whom, and changing phone numbers to escape harassment from a party that does not want her accessing said service...and being aware that said party can report her, and the friend that rode with her, for a literal bounty, and making sure there is actually no proof of anything anywhere...and, you know, all of that. fun. there's something about the dawning horror of realizing what the conversation you are having actually means in terms of being a female citizen of the US in 2025. and now...just had a puppy playdate with a new friend here, who...i can't even really unpack this one. she is nice, i like her, our dogs adore each other, politics just doesn't come up, as it shouldn't and used to be, right...and she advises she was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer three weeks ago. so she has an oncology team, and is getting a second opinion but is, at least as of now, planning to follow recommendations for the chemo/radiation then surgery treatment protocol. maybe. because... ...she's also going next month to a facility in AZ for eastern/holistic treatment. and she's started giving herself ivermectin already, and some other crap i never heard of, Mel Gibson said it worked. and thankfully Trump is in office now b/c RFK will 'open up' access to all kinds of alternative treatments. and did i mention she got laid off about 3 months ago and hasn't found a new job yet? so no insurance...but thankfully she qualified for...you know where this is going...Medicaid and so far she hasn't received a single bill! yay. i mean, i got in the car and started crying b/c one, that totally sucks, and also EVERYTHING ELSE IN THAT INSANE CONVERSATION. what is even happening😖it's an honest to god struggle to even know anything to say in response. i just kept falling back on 'uh, well...oh i am just so sorry!!' and hugging her. TL/DR - the past 24 hours basically:
  2. oh yeah, she also said "I really hope people will regret it and change that in four years 🙏" i didn't really have the heart to laugh at that one, and i don't think she would have understood the colloquiallism of 'oh my sweet summer child' lol im so glad the US is respected around the world again.
  3. chatted with my French friend last night, just touching base to gauge french civilian awareness/ reaction... their news headlines are full of US news. some of her comments... 'all is really unbelievable' 'very frightening for the world' 'really the worst thing happening' 'just come back to Europe!' (ha i wish) 'i can not look at his carrots face!' 😆 'this is really terrible, we are to Idiocracy!' (i replied that yes i had seen that documentary which made her lol) 'this is indeed terrifying for the world and humanity' she did remark that she knows it is not 'most Americans fault', she said every one of her friends is terrified. she had a couple of work trips to the states planned in the next year but that has all been canceled. so anyways, not foreign policy but a glimpse of other shit going on around the world i guess. awesome.
  4. 'DUH!' response has never been more applicable 🙄 someone is no doubt working on how to justify sending $$ to Texas and Florida but not California and Colorado.
  5. that reminds me...anybody see Wolf Man?
  6. so anyways, that dude was basically chastising this thread for schadenfreude right? do you even aggy, bro?🤔
  7. well thanks for not voting for the twice-impeached convicted felon, confirmed sex offender, compulsive liar, abject moron and top ten shittiest human alive i guess.
  8. this country was literally birthed from violence and oppositional defiance disorder and 'manifest destiny' written on our gotdamn red white and blue souls. 'land of the free, home of the brave' = 'you can't tell me what to do!!' in a nutshell. i mean that's like literally (TM Biden) bullet #2 of the democratic platform lol
  9. lmao not only didn't i see most of these i've never even heard of the bulk of them 🤣 but i am a huge fan of most of the supporting actor nominees so i can root for any of them... and if Demi wins an Oscar before Cruise...lolol Villeneuve snubbed for director is a choice i guess? i predict ratings are gonna be subpar lol
  10. yeah but Trump is gonna issue an EO mandating 2% interest rates.
  11. there are lots of reasons, but 'America fell bc the left didn't listen to the alt-right enough' will never be the epilogue. the left is full of overly empathetic pussies, the left tries to satisfy everybody and ends up satisfying nobody, the left is full of intellectual snobs, the left don't have the balls to get in the mud and fight dirty, the left thinks everybody can see the obvious and facts will change opinion...all partly to mostly true and all reasons why we are here (along with a million others). but 'the liberals didn't listen and cater enough to 4chan and TruthSocial and the techbros websphere' is just not the thing. and if it is? the world will be better off when we blow our own head off anyway.
  12. ...if we're lucky 🤞
  13. plausible because our timeline is just that stupid
  14. so this has one showing in the giant luxury Harkins CineXL theater here next week...tickets only $8 😮 my mate can't remember it and i've never done a rewatch so it will be close to watching it for the first time, cool!
  15. who they think they are who they actually are
  16. i feel like pieces of something a lot more catastrophic than grocery prices or international shame and embarrassment are floating around... but with the probability that vaccines will no longer be/can no longer be required, combined with kneecapping the communication arm of our institutions meant to educate and inform of disease/health risks...i mean... are we... like wtf is the actual end game here?? we all gonna die? where's the profit in that?
