  1. Any movie where the convoy and gunships are rolling out to SRV’s Voodoo Child is fucking doing it right.
  2. I'm going to need a beer to put these flames out. Great Mav, real slick.
  3. I would say Top Gun may be the epitome of “smash hit bad movie that doesn’t hold up at all”. I love Crocodile Dundee, the juxtaposition of Mic from the outback and 80’s New York is great, and it’s got the lighthearted Aussie vibe of not taking itself too seriously that keeps it watchable.
  4. I'm on the complete other side of this argument. The score and voiceover make Platoon and are the parts that hold up and are still relevant (This nation is still at war with itself, and the Barnes and Elias characters are just as relevant today as ever). The war scenes are bad and don't hold up at all. Blackhawk Down was a fantastic war movie that I thought did an admirable job illustrating the chain-of-command inefficiency that was noted in the book as being a significant factor in the events, along with actual heroic actions by some MOH recipients and general badasses that made a difference. Also, I thought it did a better job re-creating Special Forces missions than any other movie before it. The weakest parts that are grating/don't hold up are Josh Hartnett, Jason Isaacs, the contrived comedic relief with McGregor and Hardy, etc., which are a small part of the film, but they do date it somewhat. If the script would have gone totally hardcore war movie without the few comedic relief scenes/lines and trimmed down the Josh Hartnett storyline, it would feel less dated, but it would have probably been a little more dark/depressing/realistic that what was considered optimal for commercial viability at the time.
  5. I really enjoy this series. I went back and started from the beginning before starting season 4. I'm appreciating little details I missed/don't remember from watching the first time.
  6. Yeah, I hear you. That’s a kick ass frame and really nice G2s and G3s.
  7. That’s a huge 8. Did you score it?
  8. It was a little brisk this afternoon, but it was a great first day of the season for us.
  9. Tow-n-Stow FTW. No more shin banging, height adjustable, and always there.
  10. I hit my steel from 550 today with the 300WM, it’s just to the left of the galvanized feeder. The best part was I setup some binos on a tripod so my wife could watch/spot and she was nice enough to refrain from knocking it over and breaking them. I wish I could build another setup further back but I’m going to lose LOS pretty quickly due to topography. I might be able to get to 600 yards. I’m looking forward to going to a 1000 yard range. Also got some practice with the 375 off of shooting sticks, and broke in the new cans as well. It was a good day. Hopefully I can get my reloading operation going in the next few weeks, get my 375 load worked up and then get my ballistic turret doped and get consistent out to 400 with it.
  11. And everything else. Beautiful rigs.
  12. They actually were, the lady at the shop just didn’t see the second one until I was there to pick up the one she called me about
  13. I’m putting the Fritos in the sandwich in that situation amigo. I got this range bag at bass pro and was pretty excited about it for 5 minutes, the then a strap came loose (lower left in the photo). I am disappoint.
  14. You are correct, the only problem is the velocities they are showing are a little less than what I’d like (2850+) and they don’t have Superformance data published: Hodgdon shows Superformance as being a little slower than H4831, so I thought I’d start around that minimum for loading. I’m also interested in Alliant Reloader 26, but I’ve seen no data on that for 375 chamberings, but folks are saying they like it in most longer range chamberings. Here’s the R26 published data for 300 WBY: Lastly, here’s Hornady’s published 375 WBY loadings, which seems to me like it’s all faster powders than what would be optimal, granted they were using a 24” barrel and I’ve got a 26”: Lots of ins and outs. Luckily, I’m adhering to a strict drug regimen to keep my mind limber...
  15. Reloading Endeavor Update: After exhaustive(ing?) research, I decided to go with the Redding Big Boss 2, and their slide bar automatic primer feed system. This seemed to combine a magnum cartridge sized press with what looks to be a well designed primer feed system (I don’t want to handle primers individually if I can avoid it). I’ve also picked up a set of RCBS dies for 375 WBY, some Lyman case cleaning and prep accessories, and a Hornady reloading manual (only published source with 375 WBY I could find) Probably going to go with an RCBS Chargemaster Lite powder dispenser. My rifle really liked the Hornady Superformance ammo, so I’m going to try that powder with the Barnes 270gr LRX working up from minimums ( nothing published with this combo so going to have to interpolate some). Pics to come at some point when I get all this stuff set up. Lots of strands in ol’ Duder’s head....
  16. Man you have quite the collection. Did you find a loophole for buying guns through your IRA? Which swaro is it?
  17. It’s not as different as you would think, plus that photo makes the can look bigger than it is, here’s a different perspective:
  18. Checking fitup on a threaded barrel and new can, looking decent.
  19. I think his pop pulled it off a redcoat at Valley Forge
  20. This season I shot a couple of whitetails with Hornady 250gr monometals @ 2850fps from the 375 WBY, and they basically hit the ground like someone had dropped a piano on them. Everything runs after the shot in Africa (from what I hear), but I want to do everything I can to shorten tracking jobs and reduce the risk of losing game.
  21. I’m wanting to get a Barnes LRX @ ~2800 FPS load worked up, should be good medicine for Africa or Alaska trips I’m hoping to make.
  22. 375 Weatherby and 300 Win Mag mostly, then maybe other stuff later. Good info, thanks!
  23. Valid point. Some people say changing dies isn’t a big deal, but it seems like something that would be convenient to avoid.
  24. Oh, I did pick a little something up today as well:
  25. That seems to be the consensus, seems like auto-indexing and progressive presses are more pistol/small rifle only. I’m looking at RCBS, probably the way I’ll go. Hornady has good pricing and a broad market presence, and their progressive press has some fans, I just kinda get the feeling they are the McDonalds of the reloading world or something. RCBS, Dillon, Redding, Lee all seem to get more positive mentions on reloading forums than Hornady.
