  1. MFA is a loser idea. Perhaps there can be some ideas around expanding it, in terms of lowering the age you can start, or allowing some lower middle class people to buy into it. However most likely this will do nothing except bankrupt it faster. In other words, we need more taxes to fund it.
The main people that want MFA are people that are on Medicaid or just can't get any insurance because of cost. I don't know if Dems need this vote over potentially losing others.
I am self employed, and would guess I've paid out 100k in my life on just my monthly premiums, for maybe $5000 in benefits total. That is a lot money going to insurance companies. They get rich.
A glitch in auto payment one time and I lost coverage without notice. If i had gotten injured during that time I would have been fucked. Seriously sick and i might end up selling off property to get treatment.

Our system is barbaric, cruel and backwards.

We can't afford not to stand up to the insurance lobby. Fuck those assholes. I don't like my insurance and never have because they solely exist to profit off of me by any means they can get away with no matter how cruel.

  2. Why is he prattling on about light bulbs?  And what light bulbs are we being "forced" to use?
    The man's brain is soup.
    Laura Ingraham slurped steak juice?
    His tanning bed is down?

Led bulbs cost a few dollars, and due to past regulations almost as cheap as bulbs that use 5 times the energy and are available in the same color range as incandescent without the mercury or harsh light of florescent.

But lets waste money and replace bulbs annually to own the libs.
  3. Beto with a home run tonight.

Biden did a lot better than a lot of you want to talk yourselves into believing. Warren was solid. Bernie was Bernie. I think all of the top 3 probably feel good with their performances.

Pete had a couple of great points but came off as too wonky. Nothing memorable. Hillaryesque.

Harris and Castro both probably ended their campaigns.

Booker, Klobuchar and whoever I'm forgetting.. eh. Forgettable.
Agree with all except Biden. He looked senile, and unable to articulate much more than " I was VP for Obama". All the Hillary entitlement none of the articulated policy. He got murdered. He needs to withdraw.

Trans Am meme Biden is the only good Biden.

  4. so, I spent a couple of days last week running I20 Eastbound.  I came across 2 things.  The first was an obvious fatal truck wreck. Westbound guy seemed to fall asleep (around 2 PM) and drifted across the grass median and rolled.  The cab and sleeper were crushed.  The traffic slowed, an ambulance eventually passed me on the left shoulder, and by the time I got there, the ambulance crew were setting up triangle reflectors, and were in no hurry to transport anybody.

The second thing was better.  About 100 Miles out of ATL, the aggy equipment truck was broke down on it's way to Clemson.
    Did Large Marge send you?
  5. IT'S. ALL. ABOUT. THE. GRIFT.
All of it.  Every last bit of it.  Trump and his family.  The social media grifters like Milo and Wohl.  Falwell and Liberty.  There is a common thread running through it all, and it's not a weak strand.  It's a fucking steel cable -- GRIFT.
Yeah one of my friends is getting her masters from Liberty. Most godly person I know, rarely listens to non spiritual music, incredibly kind, and walks the path of Jesus admirably.
She's a lamb that got tricked by some evil wolves disguised by faith.
    Disgusting
  6. My grandparents made block ice in a freezer, drank from the tap, gardened, foraged, preserved food in jars, reused bags, composted, and repurposed just about anything that was salvageable.

Their boomer offspring buy water by the case and ice it down with melting bag ice, eat pre-packaged food, fill giant bins with trash every week and get bent out of shape over plastic bag bans. They are all fat, unhealthy and overmedicated just to stay alive.

  7. They are starting off after the break with some building momentum. Channel some James Taylor and fire up the steamroller...

DJ is up early this morning:
Unless that was his staff. Check notes...nope...unless the "and me" was just them being cheeky.
Potus: " There saying that without me they're would be bigly problems over their".
  8. Unexpected development with the gun control debate. I have to admit that I'm uncertain whether Abbott/Patrick have seen the light, the NRA has quickly lost power, or this is some ruse by Abbott/Patrick to walk a line to appease both sides.  Or some combo.
My guess is that the Abbott/Patrick could easily get their proposals passed even if majority of the GOP lawmakers oppose it. However I doubt they do anything without their own majority if not unanimous GOP support.
He knows he's gonna get voted out in the future if he keeps going full tea party fuckhead.
Not sure Dana has any real ethos other than power. I mean he is a closeted old lesbian that hates the gays.
  9. I absolutely cannot stand the bottled water trend. My Dad is one of those who goes through several a day at his own house and I just can't understand it.
I have smart, wealthy clients that get weekly shipments of bottled water, Gallons and 20 oz bottles, that end up sitting on the porch in the hot sun for fucking days leeching chemicals.
Buy a filter. Drink tap, its Westlake they pipe in Evian as it is.

  10. I’m ready to up the age to 25 unless you are law enforcement.  Crazies are fucking it up for everyone.
That's a prudent starting point based on psychology. Development of adolescent brains and what not.
Too bad we don't really study gun violence data under this administration. Makes things ripe for loss of rights, and when I see the open carry assholes, I cant help but say fuck em. I'll turn in my purchased guns happily to save any lives possible and turn the tide back towards sanity.
  11. Beto reminds me of a motivational speaker, great style but severely lacking in substance.
He sucks at being concise. He just can't do that or nuance. I went to several town halls and he would have the audience then ramble on and take a position too far.
    It was frustrating.
Encouraging because I feel like he's honest and not pandering.
But frustrating because he loses so many voters.

Ex A -comments on Oil industry in Texas tonight. Houston would still have massive industrial refineries even under the most aggressive green plan.
  12. In the ad they spell champagne as champaign. I mean, there's a Champaign, Illinois, but you can't drink that. Because of course this is an ad for someone who wrote a fucking book. This is the dumbest era in American history.
Nonsense we have not yet begun to defile ourselves.
  13. Perfect president for the boomers. Watch TV all fucking day and post nonsense on social media.

Sadly this is best scenario with this fucktard, at least he's not actively doing harm.

  14. I sort of think the same thing.  After he's out, all our allies will look at each us and say What the hell was that all about?, have a good laugh, then be back to business as usual.
Our credibility is fucked. Why make any agreement with the US when a lunatic can undo 8 years of planning, diplomacy, and agreements in short order. We keep careening from guardrail to guardrail. We are toxic.
  15. "And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. . . .

So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.
