  1. Wow, if adding SUDS-U is the PAC’s big move, they have joined the parrot in shuffling off this mortal coil… they are an ex-conference. Is the PAC going to bring in a Directional State School as a travel partner? For all intents and purposes (or intensive porpoises), they are looking to add a program which trades losses with the likes of Nevada, UNLV, New Mexico & Fresneck State. Yes they have some success against major programs, mainly due to the fact they are a trap game. Moving to what used to be a major conference means they won’t have one game a year they can circle on their calendar. Of course, considering what’s left in the PAC, they may finish mid-pack or higher depending on who bails. tldr:/ Someone call Time if Death on the PAC
  2. It’s 2023, You have to explore the vertical synergies created by NIL and Booster Collectives… “come play for us and we’ll provide an Amazon Prime account or Apple TV+”. /sarcasm
  3. ASU acceptance rate: 88% To be admitted to ASU, you will need one of the following:top 25% in high school graduating class. 3.00 GPA in competency courses (4.00 = "A") ACT: 22 (24 nonresidents) SAT: 1120 (1180 nonresidents) Suprisingly, UA has an 87% acceptance rate.
  4. Da Utes are riding a couple of successful years with little serious competition in the conference. They are basically a poor man’s Oregon. A good friend is an alum and even he admits the fan base only started paying attention recently. When Whittingham retires, that will be the test to see if they can backup the gum flapping. If they had half a brain, they would jump on the Big12’s offer before the phone stopped ringing. The same with ASU, OSU & Wazzu. As rapidly as the PAC is disintegrating, there are going to be several schools out in the cold, since there is no leverage. The one advantage ASU has is that the state of Arizona will force UA to take little brother with them (see what happened when the PAC expanded). Wazzu and OSU bring nothing to the table. Oregon & Washington are the only value-added schools, and they will have to agree to a lesser payout. Cal & Stanford, who the hell knows what they are thinking.
  5. There is absolutely NO justification for pointing a fireable firearm in the direction of bystanders, period. Having your fingers anywhere near the hammer/trigger is beyond stupid. I don’t care how “experienced” you are or if you’ve been around guns all your life, muzzle me and there are going to be problems. If they wanted to check camera angles for the shot, then use a blue gun. Hollywood procedures be damned, if someone hands you a firearm which you fail to clear/check and you cause it to fire, you are responsible. I’ve had a training instructor bounce students for failing to make sure the gun was clear or flagging others. And that was after he handed you the gun AFTER he cleared it. So-called experts are usually the worst about getting lazy with basic safety, and crap like this happens. Bottom line he is responsible, along with the armorer, and honestly, the cinematographer who was shot was at fault as well for allowing a firearm to be pointed at her without making sure it was clear by physical inspection not “it’s cold”
  6. RIP Charlie… Fight On ✌️
  7. Hey…Speaking as a 30+ year IT guy… yeah you’re right, carry on
  8. While not wrong, who’s dumb ass couldn’t get the 1 yard on 4th down in the Rose Bowl Lendale? Trying to keep himself relevant lately, must have run out of weed money.
  9. I’m sure they’ve begun the wailing and gnashing of teeth over there, I avoid those boards at all costs. There’s a very real chance that this is his ceiling. Since he’s only had 1 HC gig for a short tenure, I personally can’t establish a pattern… yet. I can say there is a very clear trend that “Air Raid” teams only pay a passing nod to defense. That’s the dirty un-sexy part of the game…as long as we can score 60 we can win. So we’ll see if that continues. Like I said earlier, the days of shut down defenses may be long gone for most teams. The ones that do field a tough physical defense will win championships.
  10. Shitastic ending to the season, but not unexpected considering the defense that we had last year. Swiss cheese had less holes in it. I’m wondering if the college game has reached the point where scoring 40-some points isn’t enough anymore? I realize I’m old, but considering the way the game has slanted towards offense exclusively given the hurry-up offense, blatant holding on every play, penalizing the defense for hands to the face, yet offensive players can “stiff arm” to the face, etc.. Looking at some of the games this weekend, 40 points would have been a losing effort. Maybe the best we can hope for is a random stop every half and try to outscore the opponent? Anyways, good luck next year, fuck aggy, ou sucks
  11. You and everyone else on the schedule
  12. I wonder how much this adds to ucla’s ransom money
  13. Receivers were the one position we were flush. Having Drake London, Michael Pittman and Amon Ra St. Brown for targets helped rack up the yards. From my viewpoint (which is worth less than 2 cents), I didn’t see any great scheming or adjustments. I agree there must be something there, and honestly we were dog water during his tenure, so he didn’t have much to work with.
  14. Good luck to them. During his time at USC, I didn’t see anything in his offense that impressed me. Granted it was during the extreme shit-show period, but he did nothing to help his players other than throw a lot. The “Air Raid” scheme was chuck the ball downfield and hope the WRs came down with a jump ball. Toss in an 8-yard deep slow developing running play for a change-up. Without O line protection, there were no quick hits or slants.
  15. All good points. My guess is that the 4 corner schools & PAC are looking at the Bay Area TV market share. What the actual, real viewership is, I have no idea. I’m sure it was covered ad nauseum pages back. The other reason, which is unpopular and will get me slammed, is that the PAC needs Stanford and Cal to maintain the academic standing of the conference. Particularly with UCLA and USC leaving, and Washington and Oregon looking for the exit. The PAC’s stance historically, reality be damned, is that its members are premier academic research institutions (yeah I know, ASU, Oregon State, and Wazzu). In California that is the difference between the UC system (research institutions) and the Cal State system (non-research). This is the reason Fresno State & San Diego State are not in the PAC. Of course in the new world of college athletics, all bets are off.
  16. From what I’ve seen, they just play a different game than other major schools. They make their bones on the academic side, and the success on the athletic side is a bonus (think Vanderbilt but with good athletics). Despite an endowment in the multiple $10’s of billions, they cut like 11 (IIRC) sports a couple of years ago. I believe football is the only non money-losing sport. Alumni will donate to endow sports, but it’s not a rabid fan base from what I’ve seen, I’m probably way off
  17. Government administrator speak for “we’ll say it’s a smaller amount, but plan on taking the hit for the big number”. Especially after the PAC’s TV deal winds up being rubbish
  18. I hesitate to include Stanford since they do excel at Olympic sports and punch above their weight in football and basketball. So they do take pride in their athletics, they just want to do it their way. But Kal, yeah screw them
  19. The fact they made the move to the B1G shows they do. I’m not going to get into bashing them for the rivalry’s sake, but in basketball they are a blue-blood for sure. USC on the other hand, not so much. Football, they hold their own (pun intended). Other sports they are a force. I had heard that the academic side was at odds with athletic side, but that’s to be expected.
  20. That is fucked up for the bruins. Why should they have to “make Kal whole” because their athletics suck and the administration could not possibly care less about sports? You want to play with the big boys, you had better be able to ante up. Otherwise do what UC Davis and the others schools do and join a lower conference. And shaking ucla down for “resources related to mental well-being and nutrition”… seriously?
