  1. I agree, I think Nelson would be stupid to flip. I just think it's consistent with Riley that he's having to fight it off or deal with the speculation. For comparison, you're not hearing those things about Manning or any of the other top committed QBs.
  2. Riley never felt like he was able to keep people in the boat. Every battle went down to the wire, and there were late wins and late losses, but there was always a sense of "when the big guys come calling" looming over each class. You're seeing it again with Nelson, and even in Caleb Williams kicking around the idea of not following him to SC. He's probably right in that being at SC protects him from that a little more than at OU, so you might see less of that in the next couple of years if he has sustained success.
  3. All of the noise from the secondary this year is about how much they prefer having a coach who knows the position. Strong shade at Manning, but we will see if the productivity matches their optimism once the K-State and Texas games are done. KSU has another Lockett on the roster, so I'm expecting some busted coverages chasing small, fast dudes.
  4. He was trending OU for a long time, then Georgia came on strong in the past week or two. After lunch, everyone has been flipping their picks back to OU. There was word that the parents wanted Georgia, but Evans liked OU.
  5. Evans seems to be back on board this afternoon. Should know for sure in 45 mins or so.
  6. Objectively, it's not terrible, it's just that most OU fans were hoping for more of a commitment to a fan-focused atmosphere ahead of the SEC move.
  7. I liken it to the south Louisiana grandmothers who by and large will use a jarred roux. Sure, you can make it yourself, but they started doing it when that became available and that became the standard process.
  8. Think about how I feel. I came here to make the same Laci Peterson joke someone alluded to and then hit hours apart.
  9. I'm tempted to say yes, but that would involve Texas beating Bama, right? For that reason, I'm going to pursue other options.
  10. Yeah, I'm gonna need another Pole Assassin-style story to come out of somewhere to make this not news anymore. Please and thank you.
  11. That was the message in Venables' second post. I'd imagine we'll never know the full story, but he's definitely taking responsibility. The change in tone internally before any public announcement is the weird part, to me. I guess that's the point, though, if they were trying to get their position straight before any news leaked.
  12. Doesn't that mean Card gets at least a few half-hearted handjobs?
  13. We will never know for sure, but that sounds as plausible as anything else. Ikard is unobjectionable for me, and I do trust that he wouldn't lie about what he was hearing from staff and players. If he's quiet about something, there's a reason. Once he decides to definitively go on record, he's never been called out as being untruthful.
  14. Per Ikard, he was hearing exactly that Saturday into Sunday. Big team meeting, players are generally on board with a discussion and small leave of absence with an eye toward moving past it together. Then by Sunday evening, something in there changed. He doesn't know if it was Admin-driven, or if players spoke up that weren't comfortable doing it in a large session, or if Gundy and Venables had another discussion, but something changed.
  15. Jacob sounds like he needs a nap and a juice box.
  16. If some significant percentage of the players wouldn't be comfortable with him around, he's absolutely right that he would be a distraction.
  17. Had to be that, and players had to be upset about it. If it was a mistake and nobody was angry, this likely comes down to an apology. Some fans are in denial and hoping something changes, but with Venables' statement, it's hard to see a way this isn't the end.
  18. If you've ever felt cheated when a chase scene could have had the camera fly up a building and down the other side, Ambulance has got what you need.
  19. I should fucking hope so. I've got a buddy who's pretty advanced in the ag industry (KSU grad) and he says it's a cult all the way up. Apparently if you want to get in on the high level meetings, you'd better have someone on your team who can tap their idiotic ring on the table when the rest of them do it, or you're SOL.
  20. Sometimes you ask Twitter a question you should ask your teammates.
  21. It works until it doesn't. He's selling nothing but potential right now, with no negatives other than the uncertainty that comes with any coaching change. If he can keep it up and maintain that scarcity by demonstrating value, it's great. If there's any decline in that value, it becomes a joke among those who actually matter in the process.
  22. Jury is out on how well Venables handles setbacks, agreed 100%. Also don't have any arguments about Lebby. There's got to be someone who knows offense that wasn't complicit in sexual assault coverups AND wasn't previously banned from the OU sidelines.
