  1. I remember the first time I was asked to explain to my son the roles of three branches of government as well as the idea, and criticality, of separation of powers and oversight. He was 4. It was difficult but worth it. This is not worth it.
  2. "Triggered" is a bit over the top, but come on. The same Time magazine that put him on the cover as "Man of the Year" a month ago, and he doesn't know if they're still in business...
  3. That's Jon Lampley on the trumpet. He's on Colbert's Late Show band and works with Cory Wong as well. There's a cool thing going on right now, in that there's about 30 or 40 musicians all floating around with different projects within the Jazz/Pop/Funk fusion wave. Here's Jon with Dirty Loops.
  4. True, but don't sleep on the Nerd Reich.
  5. Birthright citizenship ruling today: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.wawd.343943/gov.uscourts.wawd.343943.114.0_1.pdf

  7. I'm hesitant to start yet another thread, but there are now dozens of lawsuits against the Trump/Musk administration, and I think it's helpful to have a place to discuss them and link updates/commentary- at least the more obscure ones. Here are a couple sites that have lists and summaries: https://clearinghouse.net/search/case/?special_collection=38759 https://www.courtwatch.news/p/lawsuits-related-to-trump-admin-executive-orders Which ones do ya'll have your eyes on?
  8. Yep that's the jump at the top of the front page. Here's the article headline.
  9. Motherfuckers.
  10. Not. the US has agreed to pretend to work on keeping assault weapons from coming across the border in exchange for Mexico agreeing to pretend to send a few more of it's troops to keep fentanyl from coming across the border.
  11. Not that anyone needed to be Nostradamus to see what was going to happen here, but Ben Meiselas nailed this result last week.
  12. Translation. Mexico and Canada both stood up to us, but Mexico gave us an out, while Canada wants us to take the L.
  13. Well, there's that. But, also...
  14. Colombia accepted 475 deportation flights coming from the U.S. under the Biden administration. In 2024 alone, the country accepted 124. They just don't want them treated like animals. I hate that this is being framed as a win for the Trump administration. Colombia got it's terms met, so they allowed a clearly established precedent to resume. It's really that simple.
  15. Looks like they're selling the whole business, as the owner is simply retiring after 38 years. I'm guessing that someone will buy it and not change a thing.
  16. I tried shake shack for the first time yesterday to see what all the hype is about. I don't like hamburgers, so I got the chicken nuggets, and they weren't all that great. The shake was very good, but all in all I don't see what all the fuss is about.
  17. Up here in the twin cities there are several spots that offer juicy lucys that are remarkably similar to that on the inside- obviously they serve it as a hamburger. My favorite (served only periodically as a burger of the month), is the El Guapo at the Blue Door pub.
  18. I've started at the windmill bit, but the whole vid is great.
