  1. Y’all don’t remember a year or so ago when griddy had just came out and there was a event that temporarily caused wholesale prices to jump way up. There were people on here that got charged big bills because they didn’t realize it and shut off their A/Cs during the spikes. if you sign up for a energy plan that variable or wholesale rate in Tx you better be smart enough to track the rate and take action to eliminate your usage during spike. I mean griddy sent alerts to theirs customers telling prices were going to spike and the change to another company.
  2. If it’s your arm you beat off with, I would head to the ER. Counterpoint: The Stranger for a couple of days before heading in.
  3. I hope you shut off your water if your power/heat is back on an you aren’t there. Mine burst and leaked when thawed, neighbor across the street had a water heater burst and thawed after power came back on and they had left for some reason. Flooded whole house, ruined all floors and parts of the walls.
  4. In lieu of a full transfer switch, see if you can find a generator breaker interlock device for your breaker panel. It is a mechanical interlock that only allows you to switch on a breaker back fed from a generator once the main breaker is off and vise versa. The interlock, input receptacle, back feed breaker and cable can be had for probably less than $250 if you are competent in basic electrical work. Roll the genny out, connect a cable, through the main and let her rip. Small 3kw genset will run most winter time loads in an emergency situation.
  5. Yes they are very easy to work with. If your lines are copper, you might consider getting parts to establish ground across the tees and unions. Per the installation instruction “Sharkbite Universal fitting are not an electrically conductive fitting”
  6. I would be chipping and digging until I uncovered it and turned it off. Shovel, hammer, axe, crowbar, whatever until I had access to it. If you have a busted pipe when it thaws ( like mine did) you need to be able to shut off quickly.
  7. It still snowing/sleeting in Tyler and I haven’t gotten out of the house yet but after call a couple of local hardware stores checking on some plumbing parts and seeing posts on here, I did a preemptive Amazon order just to make sure I would have some parts on hand when I get back to Houston. 1/2 and 3/4 copper and pex fittings and pipe are probably gonna be in short supply in the Tx DIY retail market for the near future.
  8. Interesting the difference in wind and NG comparing 2/8 to 2/14 and how scalable our NG generation is until supply shits bed.
  9. Still at my dads. Just got a call from City of Tyler saying city in on a boil notice now. We killed the water Sunday but cracked it a bit yesterday to refill a tub for flushing water. Good luck.
  10. Some read gallons some read cubic ft. 100ft^3 = your 748 gal.
  11. Do you have a flow indicator on the meter? Mine is still old school dial and it has a small red triangle that rotates if there is the slightest drip or leak. My dads meter has a newer digital readout and shows xxxxx.xx gallons. If it is dripping you can see hundredths of gallon increments
  12. Yes, welcome. You’ve already got the wall open, two sharkbite pex coupler fittings, a 5’ piece of pex and a tubing cutter or hacksaw can fix that in about 10 minutes.
  13. Maybe my sarcasm meter is frozen by being outside jacking with plumbing but this is Uncle Joe level advice. See Col. Cooper’s Rule #2. Correct way to handle trespasser is identify if possible and let sheriff or GW deal with it.
  14. Garage ceiling not supposed to look like this
  15. This is exactly what happened at my house where my wife is by herself. If your pipes freeze and burst, the ice in the line may make a ice plug that keeps it from leaking any water. Once it warms backup the ice plug melts and water flows. I didn’t get any pics but a while my wife was getting the water shut off, water soaked enough of my garage ceiling for a 4’x6’ portion of the Sheetrock to collapse. I would at least make sure I know where the water cutoff is at and have a tool available to cut it off. Mine happened about 4 hrs after the power came back on after being off for 36 hrs.
  16. Well, put me on Team busted pipe. NW Harris co, power out since 2 am Sunday, came on about noon today. Wife’s there by herself and I’m up in Tyler taking care of my dad. Pipe in the ceiling of the garage that feeds the master bath tub on the 2nd floor let go it looks like. I guess it froze and when the power came back on and thawed out there was a gusher between the floors. Collapsed the garage ceiling onto all my shit on that side of the garage. At least it was the garage and not elsewhere in the house. Guess I’ll get to use that PEX repair kit I bought for the RV. Gotta pickup some shark bite fittings on my way back after this next storm comes through.
  17. Just go with a classic but only if you have the overcoat to go with it.
  18. Lots of snow, just make it a whiskey slushee.

Everything I’ve read on these is they have the same bullet as the ranger but without a nickel case and produced as part of US gov contract (maybe FBI???) I’ve shot some a while back but still have several boxes stashed away. Went ahead and bought these as they were about the same price as most other jhp rounds when you could find them.

Found a few components and a box of hollow points traveling up to my dads on Friday. I have several box of those win white box hp that I bought years ago at Academy for about $40 i think. and haven’t seen them for sale in a while. I had read that they are Win rangers packed like that for LE sales but don’t know for sure.
  21. Pretty much the same for any _____________ dealer. *insert whatever you are buying in blank
  22. Propylene glycol is non toxic in smaller quantities. You wouldn’t want to chug a full glass of it but residual amounts in your lines won’t hurt you. If you’re like us, your probably don’t drink water from your rv tap anyway.

Oh for the days of 2 cent 22 shells.
