I generally have really good luck with Airbnb for Jaco. I’m not really familiar with the condos or hotels. Crocs resort/casino also fits what you want. It’s on the beach but a 10-15 minute walk into the main part of Jaco which can be good or bad. You can also usually find some really, really good deals on high end condos in Los Suenos that time of year but that’s a 15 minute drive to Jaco. Beatle Bar is gone, it’s now a regular bar called Rolling Thunder. The hookers have all gone to Hotel Cocal on the beach.

Good. While I love MANs they are pricy to service and for cruising applications CAT is a much, much better platform. I’m sure you know this but if you decide to make an offer be sure to hire a good boat surveyor. Boats that size are a ton of fun but a lot of work and maintenance expense. Still wouldn’t trade it for anything.

MAN engines? I know nothing about Princess boats except that Viking helped market them in the U.S. and made some modifications for the American market but quite a bit about the MANs.

Silly good fishing at the Costa Rican seamount FADs right now. Headed in from 3 days of fishing. We raised over 50 marlin, got 37 bites and caught 24 blue marlin plus 1 stripe marlin and a handful of sails by accident. Almost everything was on a switch from a teaser to a pitch bait. It was mostly steady fishing but caught on fire from 7 to 9 in the morning yesterday when my wife let me pitch everything and I managed to go 5/6 on blues, 1/1 stripe marlin, and 1/1 sailfish. Tons of fun. Normally my wife does most of the pitch baiting but she was tired from the day before. Not the best footage but we are working on getting our GoPro setup to record fish on the teaser and then switching to the bait. You can see the fish on the right teaser and then eat her pitch bait in the middle of the screen. The photo is the stripe marlin. 94B70498-D589-4ADF-A3E0-6F2FDA870A9A.mov -
Yup. We are also the “home” team this year for the OU game which screws us as we lose a conference home game. Next year will be much better.

Ended up with a grand slam - 3/5 blue marlin marlin, 1/2 stripe marlin, 2/2 sailfish. Can’t complain but moving 90 miles overnight. -

Slow so far. Released 1 blue marlin 1 sail. Missed another blue and had another billfish bite but not sure what it was. Moving about 30 miles now to another spot. 0244.mp4 -

Had a good Friday and Saturday fishing about 30 miles offshore of Quepos. 3 blue marlin 23 sails and a lot of yellowfin. Currently headed 100 miles offshore for a 3 day trip for marlin, bite has been pretty good lately so hoping it holds up. -
That little stretch of Manuel Antonio has a lot of really good places to eat. Agua Azul around the corner is probably our favorite and also has a great view. Cafe Milagro across the street has no view but great coffee and food. Just down the road Victoria’s is good and a half mile further back towards Quepos are Mangata and Quepoa. In fact we are headed to Mangata today and it’s our current favorite place to eat. Peruvian food with a Tico twist. We are spending about 6 months a year down here and starting next year it will be around 8 months a year. If it wasn’t for football season and family in Texas and the heavy rains in the fall here we would probably live here year round.

We pretty much always stop there for drinks when we are passing by. Always enjoy the monkey show. That whole area south of Dominical to Uvita and especially Ojochal has a bunch of great restaurants. The best ones require reservations days and sometimes weeks in advance but it’s worth it if you can plan ahead.

Ok but after Harvey here in Port Aransas really the only way to contact FEMA was to go get in line for an hour or two at the Community Center. Calling them for an update? Hahaha. This is nothing new.

That child’s mom was widowed a few months ago and her brother died this year also.

And Houston, and San Antonio and . . . I’m pretty sure most every poster here is going to have some kind of connection. I already directly know one of the parents of the missing kids and my mom knows 2. Indirectly know a bunch more.

That would be Josh Garcia. Bay guide. Book him for sure if he’s available and if not he can give you some other suggestions. He’s a Longhorn, funny guy, and one of the best fisherman around. A good private charter for offshore is going to run you upwards of 3500, otherwise you can always book a headboat out of Deep Sea Headquarters or Dolphin Docks but you will have 40+ other people with you.
