  1. X-posting from the Napoleon Grills thread. Got a new grill and did a strip to break it in... The side sear station, which is super high heat for searing (not a side cooktop burner that I'd never use), gets really hot. Flames going everywhere. This will take some tweaking and getting used to... Here's the char on the first side I did. Probably left it on a little too long... And here's the other side which probably wasn't quite long enough, but I was worried I'd overcook it, which I did. There are a few things I can do differently to perfect this part, but it is a really nice feature and I think I'll love it once I get it dialed in... Here's the money shot, but I'm not super proud of it. Probably cooked it about right before I put it on the sear station, which then took it a bit over... Overall though, the build quality, features, warranty and price point are superior to Weber in just about every way I can see so far.
  2. Well, it's here and it's spectacular. Super pumped...I haven't had a proper grill in about 4-5 years (between living in a condo that didn't allow them and my new backyard build taking forever). I'm officially a convert from Weber. No doubt that Napoleon is just much more grill for the money, at least so far... Here it is with the knobs lit up... They turn red when the associated burner is on, which is kind of handy... The side sear station, which is super high heat for searing, not a side cooktop burner that I'd never use. 3. Yeah I’ve heard that too. About places in there in general, not about Royal Blue specifically. I’m guessing due to the changes with their other location in Dallas, it might have been on The Royal Blue end. But hey, when you have the kind of fuck you money they have at Highland Park Village, they can afford to change up their toy with new accessories whenever they want. Have also heard they’re doing everything they can to get Starbucks gone too.
  4. What do you mean, "you people"?
  5. Lmao And I never said it was good. Have you been to Outback?
  6. How the fuck is Dan gonna pull off short pants at Del Frisco?
  7. I’ve tried a few, just fucking around at the lake when I feel like slamming something quick and more refreshing than beer. Truly > everything else so far.
  8. Yeah, y'all are right. I was just talking generally speaking, I'd pick one or two and eat the rest of my meals on property because most of the Wynn/Encore spots are pretty great. Whenever we'd go and stay at the Wynn, we started to notice after a few trips that going off property never really seemed worth it and that we'd have been better off just eating there. But if super high end fine dining is your thing for every meal while you're in town, then go for it. I'd just prefer maybe 1 meal that way and the rest on property.
  9. Oh yeah...I was asking for my wife. I mean...yeah...umm...of course...that...that's what I meant.
  10. How’s that Topo Chico Seltzer? Love me some Topo Chico, but haven’t found a hard seltzer I really like. Couple that are okay but nothing great. Hoping the Topo one is it
  11. Unless you’ve been there done that on all the places at the Wynn/Encore and are just over them, I’d scrap a lot of those dining places on your list and just eat at the Wynn/Encore equivalent. I really only ever go off property for 1...maaaaaaybe 2 meals when I’m there. Whatever Wynn/Encore has is likely better than the equivalent elsewhere.
  12. Sorry should have said Carbone, which is totally different than the Carbone’s here. Carbone is from NY (they’re also opening one of those here). I ate at the one in Vegas (Aria) and it was outstanding. More of a high end Fachini/Charles kind of place.
  13. Grace is our go-to in Ft Worth, but I have a feeling that's probably not Patty and Dan's speed. They sound a lot like my parents and with that in mind, a place like The Keg would be perfect. That's where my parents go for their bigger celebrations (they usually do an Outback level to celebrate normal things). In fact, I think they did their 50th anniversary at The Keg. It will definitely feel like a step up from Outback for Patty, but Dan can still wear his short pants, especially if they sit on the patio. There isn't one in Ft Worth proper, but there's one in Irving and one in Arlington. @Shoxthemonkey I'm probably late on this, but they can't miss with The Keg.
  14. I hope for DDD's sake, that's what this is.
  15. User name does not check out.
  16. You will not be disappointed. Went for my birthday with a group of 10 and it was fucking amazing. Food was great, drinks were great, "scenery" was great (as @ChiTownDoc mentioned) and as far as service, they rolled out the red carpet for us. Awesome space too. Being on the 49th floor, the views are obviously cool, but the best part is that it's huge, yet they somehow managed to make it all feel really intimate. Everyone in our group was blown away and from everything I've heard before and since we went, it is thee place to go in Dallas right now. They absolutely nailed every aspect of what makes a great restaurant experience...service, scene, ambiance and food. We never go out downtown, but we can't wait to go back.
  17. Not surprised. Rumors have been swirling for a while that Royal Blue was struggling there. It was kind of a tale of 2 joints. The coffee bar part seemed to be doing really well, but about ⅔ of the space was a grocery store that nobody ever shopped at. That's some high dollar real estate for most of the rent not returning any revenue. Never been to Sadelle's but looks to be a better fit there. I'm a fan of one of their other restaurants, Carbone's, so if this is anything close to that level, I'm in. Existing locations in NY, Vegas (Bellagio) and Paris. And I'll always welcome any new variety in Highland Park Village. https://dallas.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/05-12-21-sadelle-highland-park-village-bagels-royal-blue-grocery/ Now if someone could just figure out what the hell to do with that Yo Lobster space. We liked it the one time we tried it, but it looks to be struggling big time. Every time I drive by, it's dead, when there are 30 min waits at all the other places in there. Black hole where restaurants go to die.
  18. Why would anyone have a problem with their political discussions being moved to the CR? I don't spend any time in there, but I was told it's actually a place with fair conversations based in fact and merit that follows very closely to the mix of Texas Politics. Not a cesspool, hellhole, shit show, echo chamber, circle jerk, cabal, etc. Not sure where some of y'all are getting that.
  19. You seem poor. This ^ I might even love it more in Vegas. Especially for the scoring part. Not to mention room service, breakfast in bed, etc. Cocktails while getting ready to go out. And if it's value you're after, you can get the best rooms for less money in Vegas than probably anywhere else in the world. No, I think if you don't care about the rooms when in Vegas, you're the one doing Vegas wrong. Plus there's that ^
  20. sure...minus that whole "good guys" part
  21. For me, he's kinda one of those guys that I should hate, I wanna call a douche, I kinda wanna not like his schtick...but he actually seems like a pretty cool guy. Like him better on DDD than GGG though.
  22. I met a friend at the Waldorf for breakfast one morning when I was staying at the Aria. Right next door so quick easy walk. Pretty much the same experience. No casino, and like 2 total restaurants. Really nice, but damn I almost fell asleep walking through the place it was so barren. And that's a lot more near the middle of the action that Trump's joint, I think. I'd pick somewhere else if it were me.
  23. If all the shitty restaurant workers from shitty restaurants are getting better jobs elsewhere, I guess that explains why everything else (hold times, lead times, out of stocks, customer service, etc.) has gotten so shitty these days.
  24. Wow @PenelopeWitherspoon that list looks amazing. Thanks so much for putting it together! Unfortunately, we found out yesterday that we have to postpone our trip. Damn work obligation getting in the way of our fun. Soooo...back to the drawing board. July not looking great either, and don't really want to come in August (I don't think). Might be looking at September now, which seems like forever away. Either way, will definitely keep you posted and we will grab that drink(s) for sure. Thanks again for all the recs. Hahaha, yeah will have Mrs Landomatic along for sure. But I think the two of you will get along swimmingly. She's a lot cooler than me...trust me.
