Ready for the Terry Black BBQ store that is being built on 7th street here in Fort Worth to open. Hope they can produce quality like this picture shows.
  2. Let me know when and the coffee paid for.
  3. Went to visit my 84 year old best friend in recovery at a rehab facility (physical therapy) on Friday. He has been hospitalized 5 times in the last two months with congestive heart failure and other maladies. The wife and I have been friends with both he and his wife who is also in recovery for over 25 years. When I walked into the room, his wife, son, and daughter in law were there and we had a good visit. Then he told me he had some bad news-the doctors said they have done all they can do for him and recommended he return home for hospice care. I left there and sat in the parking lot for ten minutes weeping and letting the feelings and emotions flow. When I finally could see clearly, I drove to my home group where the step speaker was finishing up 10-12. Before the meeting, I spoke to her and as I returned to my seat, made eye contact with a former employee I hadn't seen in three years since retirement. He said how glad he was to see me and to know I was a member of the group. I asked how many days he had and he replied three. I then asked when he figured out he needed help, he said three days ago! After the meeting ended, we embraced, I gave him my phone number, and told him I was available 24-7 for anything he needed help with in the program. When I told my friend on Saturday about this, he smiled and said that is how we keep our miracle by carrying the message to those who still suffer. I have watched him do this and gone with him on several 12 step calls throughout my sobriety. He then said keep doing what we do and you and I will have much to discuss when we meet in heaven. There are no words to describe how much I love my friend and how grateful I am that God saw fit to put us together in a program that works as long as we work it. I agreed to officiate his funeral at his request and told him what an honor it would be. In the meantime, I plan on spending as much time as possible going to meetings, visiting with him at his bedside, and living sober one day at a time.

Hoping that this is the case when the Fort Worth location opens on 7th street. There are some great barbecue places in Tarrant County that are listed in the TM list and if the pictures posted here are any indication, one more will be added.

This is my favorite Tarrant County barbecue joint, but also the double meat smashburger (ground brisket) is top shelf too and at $9.95 is the best burger option in town, imho.
  6. Wannabe boy band yell leaders, brown shirt wearing wind up marching band, sheep abusing on a scale that has the ASPCA hotline constantly crashing, fishing tackle stadium, and a history that includes losses not only in athletic competition, but to the MOB at Rice and SMU students, so much turdition to embrace, it's a wonder anyone could possibly consider this cool.

    I-20 east.
  9. I agree-haven't had to worry about any Super Bowl shirts from any year this millennium.
  10. Had that same thought. Electrical current cannot be seen and therefore when trying to help someone who is electrocuted can end up killing both people. This is a terrible tragedy and one that a family will suffer and grieve forever.
  11. Likewise, and when I think about what could have been had I parked all of that cash in brk.a, well, I never wanted to be a gazillionaire anyway.
  12. This is absolutely correct. When Ed was married to Vickie, the occupancy rates were 95%, parking was free after 5pm, and Sundance was an outstanding destination.

I am and when in Austin, I do. But also enjoy Interstellar.

I miss the days when you could show up at 10:45 and be fourth in line for the 11am opening. Same thing that happened when Aaron Franklin was named #1. But still love the quality and experience at both of these places enough to frequent them.
  15. Glad you came to. A lot of us never regain consciousness and lose the battle with the bottle. Your BAC tells me you qualify as someone who can't stop once you start drinking and you are correct to realize that you are now at a turning point. There are a lot of us here on this thread that are willing to share our experience which is not unlike yours in many respects. Feel free to message me if I can be of any help to you finding the solution to your alcohol problem.

Found this excellent when my friend and I did our barbecue run last fall. Definitely top 10/top 5 worthy in all offerings.
  17. There are certainly better ways to celebrate a jury selection. And does ATM play NYU this year?
  18. Good for you zetjas. I was told by my first sponsor that the steps are in the order they are to achieve the following: clarity-1, sanity-2,accountability -3-9, responsibility10-12. I had none of these while drinking nor when I wasn't drinking but no sponsor and not working the steps. If you ever make it to Fort Worth, look me up at the Harbor Club on West 5th. I am there regularly most days at the 7am meeting and will buy you a cup of 90 weight coffee before the meeting starts with this caveat: We request a three minute time limit on sharing to allow as many as possible to participate!☺️
  19. You win the internets today.
  20. Speechless regarding the talking to parents who lost children in the '99 collapse hoping their undying loyalty to ATM would have diminished the grief enough for them to approve of and endorse the revival of this turdition. “The members of the committee and I are extremely sensitive to your loss. I do not want to reopen the many wounds that you have but it is important to me to have your opinion,” Bellinger wrote in the letter, asking to meet with the families. Sweet Jesus on a joystick there is no end to the insensitive moron who wrote this letter. As a parent who has lost a child, I just shake my head in disgust at these people who have no concept of what pain still must remain for those unfortunate families.
  21. Something about the eloquence in British accent when talking like a lower class hooker makes it less improper imho. Laughed until my sides hurt and learned some new rather proper insults to boot.
  22. The closing scene makes it hard to believe that Olivia Colman played both the Queen and this character, but what a talented actor.

The smashburger at Panthercity BBQ has double brisket patties for a buck cheaper. Wonder if Will Churchill taking over has anything to do with the change in the Heimburger? As far as their lower prices on meat at Heim, same as it ever was like David Byrne said.
  24. Dallas or Arlington? Sorry for you loss amigo.
