  1. Went to the 7am at Harbor this morning where a host of friends (52} welcomed me as they do every morning. Watched as a newcomer picked up his first 30 day chip and listened as he shared about spending this Thanksgiving sober for the first time in his life. Reflected on all of the men who have gone before me to the big meeting in heaven and what an impact each one of them had in my sober life. Watched and listened as each person called on to share expressed gratitude for what the program has brought them. Was reminded that each day of sobriety is a day of Thanksgiving. Will be reaching out to all family members scattered throughout the country later today to tell them how much I appreciate and love them-and thanks to the program, they will return the favor. Since April 28, 1998, this miracle has been repeating itself, and it never ceases to amaze me how grateful I am today for the life I now have thanks to AA. May each one of you have a day full of joy, happiness, and serenity.
  2. While not actually a Thanksgiving prayer, Chris Cooper brings the laughter in this scene. The family dysfunction is something I'm sure most of us here on Surly can relate to and the looks on the faces might likewise remind of someone in your tribe. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you wonderful misfits.
  3. My bad. Those brain cells killed at the Oui must have blurred my vision, to say nothing of killing the brain cells which housed memory.
  4. It was Cliff & Andi's. Andi and her partner are friends of mine. She now manages Chuy's on 7th street.
  5. Looked like a Benny Hill show on the field nearly all season so would have been appropriate.
  6. Had the same feeling walking out. Cheesy dialogue throughout made it more like a B-grade soap opera than an action thriller WWII movie.
  7. You mean lame plan, right?
  8. Been there-solid pizza, fettucine alfredo, but the best damn tiramisu in DFW imho. Still prefer Campisi's but not a bad change of pace.
  9. I had completely forgotten about that location but visited there numerous times in the late 70's.
  10. It was the 2004 game but your point is well taken. 4th and 18 when Vince delivered in Lawrence.
  11. Dead heat for which is worse-Texas Defense/Ahmad Brooks announcing. Can't decide whether to jab the ice pick in my eyes or ears.
  12. 22.5 was on sale today at Nebraska Furniture Mart for $435.
  13. Pooka chanelling Darren Sproles and making this defense look like six man football.
  14. The Bud Kennedy post I saw about it said that they were getting close. But it didn't have a date. BBQ on the Brazos opens Tuesday at 10 am according to Allen Sanford, Pitmaster John Sanford's brother.
  15. Do yourself a favor-go on a Saturday, have a Reuben and a slice of the pie of the day, chocolate meringue(the filling is warmed before serving and is the sheeeeeit!!!) Also love their chili. Note-cash or checks only. I have enjoyed the food at Carshon's for thirty years and bet you will be glad when you go.
  16. Jim Schusler had a great trio at one time-the blues bar on Henderson, the Hideaway on w. 7th, and the oyster bar on university. Spent many a good night at all of these and the chili at the Oyster Bar is definitely is not to be missed. The Richlieu Grill in downtown had the best in FW back in the 70's and JJ's is on par with their quality, imho.
  17. Sounds to me that paying the $7.73 in person and asking them to waive the 250. Your past record of having paid your charges for 9 years should be enough to convince a customer service rep to remove it and restore your right to drive the CTP and other toll roads. If that doesn't work, ask to see someone who will be reasonable. Pain in the ass having to try to decipher their worthless website but even more having something from your past from 9 years ago suddenly impact your driving. Let us know what happens and call if you need bail.
  18. The only complaint I have about this outstanding show. There should be a 12 step program for this addiction-how much is enough, just a little more. I find myself jonesing immediately after the sixth episode ends each season, which is what I guess the producers are going for.
  19. This happens regularly on the 28th street location when ordering a Whataburger. I order the special burgers as they don't seem to be cooked until ordered, like the old days when you had to wait for an order.
  20. Ate a pound of panther city ribs on Friday-gonna do this again this week. Haven't made it out to Sanford's place on the circle yet, but panther city has my vote as best in FW at present.
  21. I like the Astros in 5.
  22. Still in business on Camp Bowie next to the Ridglea Theatre.
  23. Having left there in '74, it's not a surprise that some things in the old hometown haven't changed.
  24. Agree. This tripe replaced Paul Blart on the top of my worst movie ever made list.
