  1. Yeah, no. You’ll get WSR and you’ll like it.
  2. The calm before the BTAC. EH Taylor in general is around right now. Worth finding a single barrel but small batch isn’t bad for under $40.
  3. I found a Willett Family Estate 4 yr Rye and ECBP B518 on the shelf today. Passed up an EHT Single Barrel because I have a few pours left and an EHT Straight Rye because I got impatient and bought one on BSM last week. It’s out there in central Texas.
  4. Gold slams and goes hard. Congrats.
  5. You need to try sealing it in a vac bag and reheating in a 160* water bath. Redneck sous vide in a cooler is fine, but the results are incredible. I’ll never reheat a whole brisket or large portion any other way again.
  6. Accurate.
  7. Save your money and get the gold. I have all three and my gold is down to the last pour while my SiB and SFTB have 6 oz gone. The gold is just the best, easily the finest bourbon you can have show up on your doorstep for $120.
  8. Cochon was on point, especially for lunch and for drinking $14 Weller CYPB pours. Restaurant August was strong to quite strong for the French/Cajun/New American vibe and the best service we had anywhere in New Orleans. La Boca was also a great choice (Argentinian steakhouse) for something more low key and less crowded but still excellent steaks. Bourbon street sucked, I don’t get it.
  9. Great looking watch and the best of the three for sure. I have the Lander GMT and have been wearing it more than the rest of my small collection combined.
  10. Found Weller CYPB at a bar in New Orleans this afternoon and made a dent at $14/pour. They had it priced between WSR (store pick) and standard Antique 107. It’s really good but I’d like to compare it blind with W12 and 107 because I have a sneaking suspicion it’s not worth the $300 secondary ask.
  11. +3.5, wow. What’s the o/u, 27? DKR was awfully quiet when Tulsa was storming back Saturday night and it’s hard to even picture you guys getting fired up for that product on the field.
  12. Very nice. Especially with damn WSR 750s going for $40 on secondary these days.
  13. Just poured an EHT single barrel to keep me company while I smoke a 9 lb prime brisket on the BGE. Sorry* the Horns suck again, but at least there’s bourbon. *not sorry
  14. Had to go to three Twins to find it, but picked up an 18/01 Kathleen’s batch Booker’s for $47. Those places are cleaned right the hell out now. They might have a russel’s single barrel pick left if you’re lucky.
  15. I’m thinking about picking up a Booker’s since I’m always on the edge of picking one up when there’s nothing on the shelf and a buddy said they had a few at $55 at our local twins. I’m sure everything limited is long gone by noon at most locations.
  16. Spec’s University Ave in Round Rock. Batch 2 was $185 or so with cash discount.
  17. Found some Kentucky Owl Rye Batch 1 on the shelf today. But it was mixed in with the batch 2 so I payed halfway between batch 1 and batch 2 retail.
  18. That Blanton’s setup is so great. And after many tastings I’m convinced Gold is my favorite Blanton’s over Single Barrel and SFTB. It’s an amazing value if you don’t get shanked on the shopping importing. I’d buy a case at retail if I ever saw it at a duty free.
  19. Specs behind the Buccees in New Braunfels usually has it along with EH Taylor small batch and sometimes single barrel.
  20. Nice. I picked up a bottle for $31.99 at the hood liquor store by my office on the way home today. They charge more than retail on everything but typically have Blanton’s, W12 and other solid items for secondary or just under. They also had ER handles for $89 which makes no sense to me.
  21. Drinking EHT single barrel tonight and it’s pretty damn good for something routinely available and $65 out the door.
  22. Sorry for partying. But yeah, it seems wild out there this year. Our marina has the Travis County Sheriff boats which seems to keep things reasonable, but people are leaving the Gar pretty much falling down drunk every time we are there. And lots of morons in rental boats going full speed up the wrong side of the lake.
  23. Whistle Pig and Booker’s for $12 and Basil Hayden for $14? Ooook.
  24. I wouldn’t bother if you have kids. Boats that are heavily listed with balllast bags all over the seats and floor are the opposite of family friendly. What you want to do is find a (generally, brand dependent) ‘14/‘15 or newer 22’ boat from Axis, MB or Moomba with a gate/tab system plus enough factory hard tank ballast for a kid to surf. Most of these boats will have plumbed in soft bags or it will be plug n play to add them. Cost should run you mid $40s to high $50s and it’s a great price range for resale. And you should definitely do this, I’m already at 27 days on the lake this year in our ‘15 MB Sports Tomcat and my 10 and 11 y/o boys are surfing like mad without the rope. Our 21’ bowrider was a great start but can’t hold a candle to the fun of a tow/surf boat.
  25. It was stacked up 5 bottles deep at the specs off 35 in New Braunfels.
